Beauty of a Book and Plane - Part 2
Schiffer Publishing company has created two books to cover the Bf(Messerschmitt) 109. The first in the series takes you from the development and early models up to the E (Emil) model. This book picks up from there and covers the last versions of the 109 models F through K.Everything you would want is in this book. High quality glossy paper, clear black and white photos, detailed text covering each varient, performance data. All aspects of this excellent fighter plane are addressed - engine, weapons, experimental versions, cutaway or line drawings. This book is slightly longer than the first, has more color photos. The best are of the beautifully restored Bf-109 G models. As with the first book, some of the data plates should have been translated from German into English. No other fighter in WW2 soldiered on as long as the 109, a tribute to the orginal design. Newer fighter designs may have out classed the 109 by the end of the war, but this book is an excellent tribute to the Bf-109. I highly recommend both of these books that cover the Bf109 from development to the end of WW2. The books are well worth the price.

There are better books
Weak in detail and poorly organized. Not worth the money.

Dissapointing
I bought this expecting a good, coherent and detailed view of development, testing and production of the 109 but unfortunately the book is lacking in content and what content there is follows no coherent path, rather the order of the chapters just seem to be what ever popped in to the authors head at the time. There are a number of mistakes, in translation and in detail and many of the photos are well known. Apart from a bit of information about wooden tail units and high speed testing there is no new ground in the book. One to miss.

Do not bother
Disappointing. Many of the G sub variants not covered in detail. Would not recommend
