This back scratcher gets the job done. My back starts itching in the middle of the night. I’ll leave it on my nightstand and extend it when I start itching. The design is appropriate. The size is great its lightweight and its lengthy and extends pretty far down your back. It’s heavy duty and relieves your itch.

I have bought this several times. One next to the bed, one in the office, and I have given several as gifts. It's nice looking, and feels solid. Great for the price.

It's very sturdy and the telescoping handle has just the right amount of tension so that it will not slip out of position when I'm scratching my back. It's long enough for me to reach the edge of my pants when reaching in from the top with the handle fully extended, so I don't have any problems reaching any part of my back. The hard rubber on the handle has a good grip and I have no problem keeping the claws toward my back. I keep one of these in my bag and it's great to pull it out whenever I have a terrible back itch, which I always get in the middle of my back between my shoulder blades, the most difficult or impossible part to reach. It's not perfect, however. I read another review that mentioned the sharpness of the claws and apparently this is known as the the sharpest (or one of) the sharpest back scratchers on the market. I've never owned a bamboo or plastic one so I can't compare but the wooden ones look much duller than this one. For me, it works to calm the itch, but it's just not as sharp or satisfying as having actual fingernails scratching the itch. I think it's a combination of the sharpness and the size of the scratching surface (an adult's hand with five fingernails vs. this tiny claw can cover a lot more surface area.) Nonetheless, it does it's job well and it's convenient to have on hand.

My friend came up with a great idea to access a part of my gutter that I just wasn't tall enough to reach while on the ladder, without risking a fall: use a backscratcher to extend your reach, since it has a hand on the end. :-) So, I did some searching and this one is ideal! The little hand is metal and strong; it is telescoping so if you only need a few inches, no need to extend it out - thus making it stronger. This is a very good quality backscratcher - all metal - stainless steel, it says; easy to extend and collapse - for precise reach; just really well made. Use from 8-1/2" to 23". Comes in a very nice box - perfect for a gift!
