Wow! this is a great Dust Collector
I ordered this for my son for Christmas to add to his workshop to help manage dust being created from his planer, jointer and table-saw. He had been using a shopvac but that was not very efficient to manage the amount of dust his planer was making. We put the unit together the other day and I would highly recommend two people doing it as there are a couple of steps in the assembly process that would be very challenging to do by yourself. Overall it goes together very easily, took us about 1 hour and the instructions were very clear. Once we had it together we plug it in and turned it on and wow what a difference compared to the shop vac. Very good suction and the unit is actually much quieter than I expected, more of a humming type sound vs. the high pitch sound of the shop vac. The two inlets are nice as well. This unit is very heavy duty, the filter works great and the storage bags (4 included) are very thick so I think you will be able to reuse them if you wanted to. Jet really makes a great product here. So if your an avid woodworking looking for a reasonably priced dust collection system I highly recommend this one.If you found this review helpful please let me know by pressing the helpful button below. Glad that I bought it.
It runs quieter than I expected and well constructed. I also placed it in the far corner behind lumber rack to shield the noise. I am very happy with its suction. It really was a great upgrade from my shopvac and now the shop is a lot cleaner. Glad that I made that decision.

Impressive, with two minor complaints
This thing is a beast, weighing in at bout 150 lbs. It comes very nicely packaged on a pallet, and you have a fair amount of assembly to do. The assembly instructions are well written. You'll need 13mm and 14mm wrenches/sockets and a Philips screwdriver. Issue #1 - the metal parts are painted AFTER the holes are tapped, so the threads get filled with paint. Do yourself a big favor and use some taps to chase them first. You'll need an M6 and an M8 tap. Otherwise, you'll spend a lot of time trying to get the screws and bolts started and tightened. Issue #2 is as reported by others. The three uprights that support the filter bag assembly are really pretty flimsy, which is surprising given how well made the rest of the unit is. The problem is the mounting foot, just too much flex. A different foot design or some cross-bracing would improve this considerably. Just don't haul it around using the filter stack. (Which, BTW, is about 6' tall all assembled) Other than these two issues, it certainly has plenty of vacuum power, the motor is massive, the impeller is real steel. I expect this to last quite a while.

High quality and low volume!
I had the unit delivered by a delivery firm and scheduled it through Amazon. The unit arrived on schedule in perfect condition in two boxes heavily wrapped in heavy duty shrink wrap. Some of the parts are tucked inside other parts or are under the large styrofoam blocks, so be sure to get those all out. Installation went very smoothly, with good instructions, all parts included and everything fitting together very well. It's actually a really straightforward assembly. The parts all feel solid and of high quality. I also purchased the Jet remote control (shop around as prices varied a LOT) and I set that up with the unit. The unit runs at about 75 decibels at about 3 feet (I have an SPL meter). I'd say it is similar to the volume of my large Ridgid shop vac, but it has a lower, broader sound. It is definitely quieter than my contractor table saw which runs at about 85db. I was really concerned about the volume of the collector before buying, but it is not an issue at all. I have a 4 inch expandable hose from Rockler on the unit connecting to my table saw, and it does a great job. Definitely moves a lot more air than the shop vac did. The cyclonic action really seems to swirl the dust around in the bag. I don't have a planer or anything making big chips, so I don't have need of a separator yet, but unless I get a tool like that I think this will work very well for me as is.I did a lot of comparison shopping before buying this collector, with a spreadsheet and everything! This was not the winner due to its price. However, as I considered the cost of adding a cyclonic component afterwards to other units, the complaints on cheaper units and how badly the parts lined up or were missing parts, etc. I decided price was not the most important factor with this purchase. I have had some regrets in the past after choosing the lowest price option and am finding I am more satisfied when I invest the extra money in something of better quality. With this purchase, I felt the extra investment was well worth it from the moment I started pulling parts out and seeing how solid they were. I think it's really an attractive tool as well, and like having it tucked in the corner of my shop! I think it will last a very long time.

A great addition to my shop
Wow, it works much better than my shop vac and it is quieter (not quiet mind you but a lot quieter). It came attached to a pallet and arrived in perfect condition. It was easy to put together but the struts that holds the bag and filter are real spindly. I built a hanging hose system to all of my tools but I would sure hate to try to move it from tool to tool, it just does not feel like the struts would take a lot of moving, coupled with smallish wheels so I am happy that my dust collector sits in the next room and all I have to do is turn it on. I would recommend a good dust collector to anyone that has a small shop or even a large shop. Be prepared to spend more for the hanging hose system than you expect. Seems fifty feet of 4 inch hose would easily do my shop, but alas it was not. I was positive I knew all of the pieces I would need to build the hanging hose system, well I just got back from the retailer with the last two pieces I needed and it only took three trips. All in all it was kinda fun though.
