12 minutes to hard boil eggs. Super easy. Auto shutoff.
2/26/2019 Update: After using this a half dozen times, I still really like it. Boiled eggs on all salads now. I have noticed that some rust is starting to appear on the heating surface. I saw the same thing happen to a water boiler I have, so make sure you dry that surface after it cools down after using.I now wish I had one of these years ago. It works great for making boiled eggs without under or overcooking them. (But if you know what you are doing, a pot and some water may be simpler.)Before getting started, the manual says you should fill the tray with water and let it boil off, then repeat this a few times. Once that is done, it's ready to be used. You have a base with a metal heating surface, then a tray that goes in that holds up to 7 eggs, then some inserts for doing an omelet or poached egg. You also get a little measuring cup with lines clearly marked showing you how much water to add based on how many eggs and how you want them cooked (soft, medium or hard boiled). The bottom of the cup pops off to reveal a small pin that is used to puncture the eggs.To cook eggs, just fill the measuring cup up to the line based on the number of eggs and how many. Pour that into the metal base, then put on the egg holder tray. Eggs are place on the tray with the small side down, and the top gets punctured by the pin. Put on the top, then press the power button. That's it.The unit will then heat and after "approximately 12 minutes" it will automatically shut off (the light will go out) and the eggs are ready. The unit then needs to cool down before it can be powered on again (and should always be unplugged when not in use). After using it a few times, I'm sold on the concept. Boiling eggs is not a complicated process, but I never do it. Now I do it regularly (and can have a few boiled eggs to go in the morning rather than making scrambled eggs or whatever).Be sure to write the included e-mail address to "register" the product and get the warranty. I also asked them some questions about the 12-minute time. It was unclear to me from the instructions if you were supposed to shut it off after 12 minutes, but they confirmed it will shut off when it sense the water has boiled away. 12 minutes is just an estimate. (I assume this is because water boils differently depending on your altitude.)The build quality is not very rugged, so if it falls apart I will update this review. So far, so good.I did not try to make poached eggs yet, or omelets (making an omelet is just quicker with a microwave gadget I have), but if I do, I'll update this review.Great and quick response from the manufacturer. Good product.

If you don't have a stove
For what this does it is just too complex and unnecessarily too much work. It's a lot easier to just put the eggs in a pan of water. This won't last long. The switch on ours broke right away so we would have to unplug it to turn it off. Except for the main pan this is all plastic, thin plastic. Not dishwasher safe yet you will have all these parts to wash by hand: lid, egg holder, measuring cup with pin on the end, etc. You must wash dishes and utensils if using them with eggs. With a pan on the stove you just add water and heat. This has a set of ten steps plus a table on how much water to use. Before you use this the instructions have you do two boiling steps to clean it or sterilize it. So you put water in heat it to a boil and then you have to pick it up and dump the water either hot or waste time waiting for it to cool.It takes at least 9 minutes. So what's the point? If you don't have a stove, sure this will work for a while. College dorm? But if you have a kitchen more than likely you have everything you need and less effort. A steel pan lasts a lot longer.

Fast, hassle free way to make perfect boiled eggs.
This product, at first glance seemed somewhat light and flimsy but it does a surprisingly good job of making boiled eggs. You choose how firm the result will be by the amount of water you use to cook the eggs in. There’s a handy little spike thing included in the bottom of the measuring jug that you pierce each egg with. ( to prevent the egg cracking) Then press a button and walk away. Few minutes later you gave perfectly boiled eggs. No muss, no fuss. I have actually used this item every day since I got it. The omelette, and poached egg function works as well in a similar process. Two eggs can be perfectly poached at a time. The drawback to the omelette function is that the end result is so tiny the omelette is not satisfying, so I won’t use that function often. What would like to see in an updated Model would be, a better indicator when the eggs are done. Yes, the device turns off when the water has all evaporated but the indicator light is very hard to see in daylight conditions. I would like a little ping or something when the eggs are done.

Eggcellent
Honestly, "eggcellent" is a bit of an eggxageration -But what a neat little egg cooker! it performs 3 tasks.... it boils, poaches & scrambles eggs....And this device does eggxactly what it claims to be able to do.... & with a little practice does it pretty well.Yes, there is a bit of a learning curve, but it is not steep & once crested, making all the previously mentioned eggs dishes will be easy as breaking an egg.OK - the directions need to be studied before using this cooker, and it needs to be cleaned before using. The cooker I recieved was a bit "uncooperative" at 1st.... or so I thought :)The unit will not heat up without water in it.... so when I had it plugged in & pushed the button to turn it on, nothing happened..... so I thought I had a problem, but no, just part of the learning curve.Anywho - I thoroughly tested this unit, boiling poaching & scrambling eggs.....And yes..... it really really works :)Once you get the hang of it, cooking eggs with this Alcyoneus rapid egg cooker is easy & fun.... is it better than conventional methods? Not IMO - but that is only because I am such a great cook! lol seriously.... & making breakfast is my "thang" & I like to cook - but thats just me.As I see it I will use this on occasion, but cetainly not on an everyday basis..... & I will in all probability use it mostly for boiling eggs.So all in all.... I believe the Alcyoneus egg cooker clocks in at around 4 stars - it performs as advertised & on occasion it should prove to be usefull enough to justify taking up space in my kitchens cramped quarters :)
