Does this battery compatible with Samsung NP305E5A-A01US?

I don’t know. It did not work for my laptop

Samsung R580 but why is the connector appears backwards than actual battery?

They fit well but returned the battery because mine lost power almost immediately.

What are the instructions for charging the battery for the first time? Noticed it mentioned in comments.

Put the battery in the laptop, and plug in. When light is green, the battery is charged.

How long should the charge on this battery last with normal use (email, a couple of youtube videos, web browsing, etc.)?

The length of run time is going to be dependant on factors such as video streaming or any high CPU function usage. Normally, I'd venture to say 2-3 hrs. safely. I will advise that a good cycle or two of the battery does help. Charge it good, operate your computer without the charger and discharge it down to ~10%. Fully charge it again and cycle it again down to ~10%. Maybe even a third time! This will condition the battery to take a deep charge and definitely increase the run time.
