Office Hippo Desk High Cupboard, Lockable Oak, 80 x 45 x 73 cm

Update: I have now had this for some time now and got to say I am happy with it. My original review was rather harsh. The cupboard has lasted well and still looks good and is very sturdy. I would change my original review to say that I would recommend this product and I would buy again if I needed to. I added a few more stars than original review because the seller did send replacement parts of the damaged items, it did take a week though. I did have the option for refund or replacement. There were a few chips on some of the replacement parts but not as noticable. It was easy to put together and everything lined up ok. The cupboards arrives in 7 packages, 3 of the 7 were open as the sides and corners of the boxes missing. There is no packaging material to protect the parts so most of not all bad corners chipped, even the shelves and those boxes were not damaged. It is easy enough to put together, if you had all the fitting included. I didnt. You do need plenty of room as you have to pay it on the floor to assemble. There was a bolt missing, so I couldn't fit top, one no fitting at all for the doors. I have bought several flat packs and usually the cheaper ones, Those we're better than this. I thought I was getting a better quality product considering know if double that of the ones I usually get. I do not recommend this product.

This is an an incredibly high quality, heavy duty and solid piece of flat pack furniture. Not like IKEA it is robust. I didn't get any notifications for when it was arriving, it was pretty much next day before 9am. The packaging was damaged and scruffy, consequently there were a few bits missing and a chipped shelf. The item went together well. Better with two people and if you are experienced at building these things. The customer service is first rate all the replacement parts, plus a lot more were left at the door the very next day before 9am. My advice to the supplier is tape up the seems of the boxes or get the manufacturer to improve their packaging. I would recommend this product.

I bought this size cupboard and the next smaller size. Both are robust and were easily put together by my handyman, a very experienced individual with a lifetime of practice of fixing, mending, replacing and sorting out all kinds of household problems. He found both cupboards easy to assemble but there was one problem common to both cupboards which he was unable to fix, despite trying several adjustments using the screws on the door hinges. The larger cupboard was less affected than the smaller one, but in both cases my handyman said that the door hinges should have been of a better quality than those provided. As a result, there are gaps which are a little too wide where the doors meet when the cupboards are closed, or where the doors are attached to the side panels of the cupboard. With better door hinges, those gaps might have been rather less. I can see that as a result there will be an element of dust always accumulating inside the cupboards where the gaps are. This is a pity, because the cupboards look very nice and really are sturdy; even though there is only veneer to cover the chipboard, the quality of the veneer (and the chipboard) is very good, permitting handling in the precise assembly of each cupboard without any damage. Despite the shortcoming, I do like the cupboards very much and have awarded 5 stars, but would have awarded 4.5 stars if that had been possible.

This is a really good cupboard. It arrived 48 hours after despatch which is brilliant considering I'm on an Island so the ferry normally adds some days to any delivery. The delivery man was helpful and polite and the packaging wasn't damaged. All of the parts were present. The instructions were a little brief but if you have ever put a flat pack together it was very straightforward. All the bolt holes had threaded metal inserts placed in the sides, back and top and all screw holes had nylon reinforcing inserts. This made all the joints very sound. The cupboard has a solid back and the cupboard when complete is very rigid will take a lot of heavy items in it. I have placed it on a carpeted surface which doesn't help with stability so I have taken the precaution of screwing two metal right angled brackets to the top and fixed these to the wall to prevent any chance of it overbalancing. Very happy with the whole experience.

Pleasantly surprised with this item! For the office it's just what was needed and came in exactly the size and finish I wanted. It was straightforward to assemble - I'd say 'no nonsense', with just two screwdrivers and perhaps a light mallet to tap the wooden dowels home. Unlike other pieces from 'other outlets', I was able to get the doors balanced more or less perfectly (see photo) by quick adjustment to the hinges. One very minor setback was a single cam & screw missing - which didn't affect assembly, but an (immediately answered!) call to efficient customer service has rectified that. A great product at a good price with excellent after-sales service - whats not to like!

Would have been 5 stars but for it seems the pack containing the screws and door handles had been previously opened. as a result 1. Missing screw for right hand door 2. Although excellent build quality - having a slight issue aligning the doors (maybe it's my OCD) 3. The shelf not quite tall enough for my A4 Box files (about and inch ) Generally, very solid, premium look and feel. Good value and would recommend purchase if you don't need space for Box A4
