great machine for the price
This is a quality machine. I recommend it over just an elliptical because it gives you the chance to sit and pedal when your thighs are burning. That being said, you get what you pay for. It is all mechanical so yes it's a little noisy, There is a belt that spins around a wheel. Not recommended for the upper level of an apartment building but it's fine for the user. This machine is not for a large person. I am 5"7", 170. Anything much more than that I can feel it would be unstable. Also, I wear a size 9 women's shoe. There is only an inch or so remaining on the pedal so a man with large feet would not be able to fit his foot on the platforms. The led display is a joke. You can't really see it but you don't really need it. Just set a timer and take your own pulse. Those things aren't accurate anyway. Assembly would have been impossible without the video. I did it myself, as a woman, but it wasn't easy and took hours. Had to label all parts first and then take things a step at a time. I would suggest you have someone who has general knowledge of tools and assembling things. And if you had to return it, it would be impossible. Luckily mine works fine. Been using for 30 days. No problems. You can get a sufficient cardio exercise and it's more diverse than just a bike or just an elliptical. But again, this is an inexpensive piece of equipment. It is home-grade and nowhere near the quality of gym equipment. Plus side is it has a very small footprint. And I received in 3 days. Good Luck!

Getting used to the new norm....
5/2021 Update: Sooooo, itโs been over a year and now the equipment is showing wear and tear. The wheel is rubbing against the left side of the casing, causing the pedals to stick. The tension knob is really just decorative. It served the purpose during the pandemic, which is still ongoing, but its life cycle may not last. Update: itโs not the elliptical machines from the gym, which arenโt whisper quiet either (not meant to be). I havenโt had any real issues using it. Like many others, I have a gym membership I canโt use right now, but still appreciate the cardio. This is fine for the interim. It started out so wonderfully! I put this together myself, using the video and instruction booklet (every nut and bolt numbered). Everything was soo easy until I got to the foot petal bars. You have to turn the right side clockwise; left counter clockwise....No problem there! The problem I had is that the holes are drilled too small to easily screw in (donโt be fooled by the video). The left bolt was screwed together so tightly, I couldnโt get the nut off to even insert it into the hole. The right one stopped partially in. After much WD40 and aching hands later, I gave up and moved on. The last problem I encountered was that one bolt in the seat was screwed in too tight. Again, WD40 and aching hands later, I gave up. Iโll seek help to finish and tighten.

Good value and does what it's supposed to
I have owned and used various ellipticals and stationary bikes over the years. If you are looking to not spend a lot and get both of those machines in one, buy this one. I have had it for a month now. It gets used almost daily by my son and I. It's holding up perfectly. As far as the noise factor other people have mentioned, sure it has had some sounds come and go. But nothing that I haven't experienced with all equipment like this. If you are trying to find something "silent" I wish you luck! I'm always listening to music or watching something anyway as most people do. So it's just not an issue for me. This is a sturdy piece, meaning the parts are mostly pretty well constructed. But it is not sizable, meaning is doesn't have a large base or excess weight. I can move it around fairly easily which I like compared to the last beastly elliptical that I had. So anyway, I would think twice if you are a very large person. Stick to the weight recommendations. As far as smaller people. I am a 5'4" female and I use it set at the smallest settings. But I am also just 120lbs so if you are a little shorter but have a bit more in the trunk it should work fine. Assembly, did it by myself took 2 hours for everything, unpacking and complete assembly. The instructional video online was awesome. It gives clear and accurate instructions. Best I've ever seen. Printed instructions were perfectly fine too.

Useless as a bike, elliptical function is passable
Staring with positives that made me give it 3 starts and not 1. Pros: - Not hard to assemble if you have some prior experience (my husband did it under 2 hours, said instructions were easy to follow) - bike seat is very comfortable - it's fairly compact and can be moved around by one person - elliptical works OK - not very noisy - sturdy enough to last at least a year Cons - Parts keep coming loose, have to tighten over and over again - Elliptical is wobbly so you cannot go fast - No resistance, which makes it useless as a bike - No customer servie Now, details, starting with the bike function. Resistance is almost non-existent. Rotate the resistance knob all you want, you will go from 0 to may be 1 and that's it. Called the customer service thinking the knob could be bad. Call goes straight to voicemail, and nobody ever called me back. This was early 2021, so may be it was the pandemic, but I never got any customer support. On a closer look, it seems that resistance is created by a thin, straight strip of felt rubbing against the front of the flywheel. The strip is very flimsy, and everywhere in instructions they caution you not to tighten it too much, or it will snap. Rotating the resistance knob pulls the strip closer to the wheel. How this flimsy strip contraption can slow down a very heavy flywheel in any noticeable way is beyond me. My conclusion, it's not a faulty part, it's just a bad design altogether. To be fair, husband says he can feel some resistance and for his 80 yo mom it could be a workout. To me (average female) pedaling the bike requires absolutely no effort on the highest setting, instead feels like be wheel almost rotates itself. As a result, I get no workout, strength or cardio, and the bike is useless. As an elliptical, it's OK. I've been using it for over a year, every other day, and it didn't fall apart yet, so that's as plus. Parts keep get loosened, I keep tightening them. My biggest complaint, It wobbles. If I try to go faster it becomes a balance exercise instead of cardio. I would not recommend it to people who are prone to falls. It's still a moderate exercise, and easy on my joints, and that's why I still use it. Overall, you can find a better way to spend your money. I do not recommend this product.

Nice exercise bike for the price
Works well and easy to assemble, took about an hour. I had a spine injury years ago that left me a paraplegic for 6 months and this is very handy on days I don't feel like going to a therapy gym. I have read some bad reviews on the assembly, particularly the pedals. Common problem with all bikes if you are unaware the right and left pedals are different direction threads. The right side is a typical clockwise rotation to tighten but the left is counterclockwise rotation to tighten for safety issues because it would loosen when in use. I've seen these complaints on researching bicycles for my family also. I am ok with the Elliptical, but the arms are rotated a little far out placing you in a position angled slightly forward instead of being upright (my wife feels the same). I will probably rotate them into a more comfortable spot, mark the hole location and drill a new one. But I am using it without any modifications and it does make for an easy workout at home.

After 3 moths of use it crapped out
So after using this machine daily for three months it has started to grind, squeak, shudder and shake, and I have to constantly keep oiling it to keep it from falling apart. Ultimately the wheel hub snapped and the machine stopped working. A helpful customer service person shipped me a new flywheel. I replaced the wheel and noticed during the repair that the welds holding the pedals to the crank were snapped. Customer service again sent me the pedal/crank assembly without a hassle. When I replaced this part I was able to finally see how flimsy the bearing mechanism is. I had to re-pack the bearings in grease since they were dry and binding up. After essentially rebuilding the machine twice, after owning it for LESS THAN FOUR MONTHS, it worked well for maybe a week before it started grinding and seizing up again. This thing will probably last you awhile if you use it mainly as a place to throw clothes, but if you plan on using it every day learn from m y mistake and put out a couple more bucks for something sturdy. And GET THE WARRANTY!!

Actually I am kinda impressed
So I managed to get this on sale and I am pretty happy with it. After some of the reviews I expected it to be shaky but I am 6 ft and 190 and it handles just fine. Yes, it will take some time to put together but think of it as part of your workout. My only real complaint is the timer, which is off ... and I don't mean a little. When compared to 2 other timers (my phone and and an echo) 35 minutes shows as 37.5 minutes on the equipment ... consistently. I have never seen an electric timer run fast, well until now. Anyway, if I could give it 4.5 stars I would but I won't ding it a full star for a minor issue.

Smooth And Sturdy But Arrived Broken
I'm writing this review after using the Trainer for a total of about 15 minutes on day 1. I'll update if something changes significantly with further use. The item arrived broken. As shown in the picture, the "encased" flywheel is surrounded by brittle plastic that cracked and shattered during shipping. The pieces in the second picture were inside the "encasement" when I took it out of the box. It's not a significant enough breakage to warrant packing this beast back up and lugging it around to return it, and it doesn't seem to have any effect on the operation, but it was less than optimal. That's really the only negative thing I can say about this. It is sturdy and operates very smoothly. Initial impression is very positive. Assembly was a workout on its own. It wasn't difficult, but it was pretty physical with bending and kneeling and maneuvering. I'm at about a 7 on a 1-10 scale of handiness with a fairly decent set of tools, and it took me about two hours from opening the box to hopping on. I watched the assembly video that was attached to this listing when I purchased the item to kind of get a feel for what the process would be like. I think that helped. The instructions themselves are very clear and straightforward, though, and the parts are well laid out and labeled right down to the individual bolts and washers. You'll get a little messy because things are pre-greased. If you've ever put furniture or other semi-complicated equipment together before, though, you'll find the process clear overall. Where you really get the "low cost" feel of the item is in the "computer." It's a very basic timer/distance/pulse thing. It's not going to give you a structured work-out or anything like that. That said, it does what it sets out to do well. Just don't expect more than it is. As for the actual mechanical aspect, this trainer really seems to outperform its price. When you're on and doing your thing, it doesn't feel cheap at all. It feels very sturdy and stable. I'm not a big or heavy guy, though, so YMMV according to body type, etc. For me, it's perfect and very stable. It makes very little noise when you're using it - just a woosh. I was very happy with that. I like to listen to music when I exercise, and this unit's silent operation lets me focus my attention on the music rather than on any annoying clicks or bangs. It is very smooth in operation. It adjusts at all the important points: The elliptical bars, the seat forward and back and the seat up and down. As long as you're in the range of sizes given in the description, it seems you will be accommodated. Except for the breakage during shipping, I am very pleased and impressed with this trainer.
