Good product to use to help grass grow on inclines
We used this on an area of our yard where there was an incline and the rain had washed away any grass we had. We put down Dillo dirt, grass seed and these to make sure the grass grew. So far, the grass has done well. We made sure to water twice daily and the grass has really grown. I would recommend using this in the spring when there's more rain. We put them down in June. I did think this would cover more area but I should have done better with measuring the area. So far, I am very happy with this product. I think the most important key to success is the prep and daily watering.

A non working gimmick
Don’t waste your money. It just won’t work. It requires a lot of maintenance and constant watering. The grass grows very unevenly and not thick at all. I regret wasting time and money on this gimmick. It also never decomposes fully. Just a disaster

I have grass now!
Followed instructions and also used pins to keep mat in place. Watered 3x a day and I have grass growing!!Where I live its difficult to grow due to the heat and rainstorms which were pushing my seeds back up and across the lawn. This product worked perfectly to negate those issues and allow it to actually sprout!

Inconsistent Quality
I purchased 2 100 foot rolls of this to fill in some bare spots in my lawn. These rolls were ordered at the same time and delivered together. The first roll I put down worked as described by the manufacturer. The second roll, not so much. If you look at the picture that accompanies this review you will see part of picture has lush, green grass growing and you cannot even see the fabric of the roll. This was from the first roll. The rest of the picture has sparse, somewhat straggly grass growing and you can still see most of the fabric it comes on. This was the second roll. They were planted on the same patch of bare earth, using the same care and attention and responded very differently. Maybe the second roll was last years production, maybe it was stored in a bad part of the warehouse, I don't know. If the second had been like the first, I would be recommending the heck out of this product but since it was not, I am not nearly as enthusiastic as I would wish to be.

It works and it is super easy!
I did this with my 7, 4, and 2 year old, We added 3 bags of top soil to the area. No tilling just spreading the soil evenly. Our soil is hard clay so I didn't want to risk it (I live in Los Angeles, CA). I just rolled out the mat. Covered the edges with soil. Watered it. I watered 3 times a day the first 2 weeks. Twice two weeks after and once after that. I started on October 15th and that whole week was super cloudy in LA so I don't know if that delayed things but I didn't really see any germination until almost the second week. But after the there was growth everyday. I only gave it 4 stars because it's not a lush full lawn in 4 weeks as they advertised but it's pretty darn close to it and it was super easy. It's way cheaper than sod but pricier than seed. I've had bad experiences with seed. A lot of weeds grow along with it. This had 0 weeds. The few weeds that came out were what I already had. So definitely worth it. I will be buying more to do the rest. This was a test run and couldn't be happier. By the way my kids loved the project so include the little ones. They'll love seeing the growing process.

So far so good
We read the reviews carefully and took note to carefully prepare the ground. We made sure the ground below was free of weeds, rocks or any other objects and was freshly turned. We watered the ground the night prior and used miricale grow as stated in another review. After just one week we has sprouts across very finely. At two weeks they had doubled and began to thicken up. Word of warning make sure to keep this moist, but not overwatered. We sprinkle the ground 4 - 5 times a day. The paper has just now started to desinigrate just the slightest. The grass is 2 inches already and I will update the post at 4 weeks to see how it holds up once the California Heat rolls in and the grass is more establishted. As of 2.5 weeks I am very satisfied. We planted grass seed in this large dirt patch several times but it was always washed away or eaten by bugs. This stuff works!UPDATE (July 17, 2020):The heat came and went and the grass is still going strong! The paper was almost completely gone by week 5. All in all, this is a great product.

Save your time, money, and grief
Total waste of money. Took 3 weeks to receive after placing my order. Followed instructions as well as some hints from other reviews and 2.5 weeks later not a single seed has sprouted.

Definitely grows grass for a while maybe
Added picture after 2 weeks. Sporadic! We used both the 2ft roles & 1ft roles. The 2ft seems to work better than the 1ft also could be different batch runs. In the pics you can see the lighter & less sprouted 1ft role at one end and in a few spots where we had tears & wind blown pieces that stuck together. Don't do if there's thhe slightest breeze without staking they're very hard to reposition when even a little wet it falls apart, holes in role shown. We preped ground with BlackCow 50/50 fertilizer & also with fresh top soil prior to laying out Growtex. Some of it is great and on other areas it looks anemic so only 3 stars currently. Still have another 2ft & 1.5 1ft roles to play with so gonna do a test in another area against HydroGrass that you spray on as opposed to a role just for kicks. Stay tuned.7weeks later we added 3 more pics of it dieing almost 1/2 of the area laid out. It either was stunted growth or it grew and died see brown spots in added pics. Also seems to be a delicate strain of grass when compared to my existing centipede type very thin blades.
