Sturdy convenient safety!
Solid heavy safe with 2 ways to access. Fingerprint reader works well. Makes life easier by having the drop slot. Much more secure then just having a lock box. Plus they have great customer service.

Gambled and Won
This is not a bank vault. If that is what you need I suggest you look elsewhere. However, if you are looking for a high-quality medium duty depository safe this is the best deal for your money then this safe is for you.My first depository safe was a Barska but since it stopped working I decided to try the new Viking depository safe. Since I already own a Viking 52BLX in-wall safe and It is of good quality I decided to take a risk on buying their new depository safe. I Gambled and Won with this Viking safe! It cost a little more than the Barska safe, but the quality is SO MUCH better.Check out some of the differences.1. Viking’s weight is about twice what the Barska’s safe weight is. If you bang the top or sides of the Barska you can sense how much thinner, it is.2. The Viking Safe has a light to make sure you leave no deposit bags behind. The Baraka has no light.3. However, the MOST IMPORTANT DIFFERENCE IS the Viking has a long protective chute that prevent fishing out deposits. The Barska has a BIG gap that allows wires etc. to be used to pull out money. (Pictures to follow) As you can read in Barska reviews multiple people claimed money "mystically” disappearing.4. The Viking doors are laser cut so you cannot pry it open. The Barska has a small gap that may allow it to be pried open.5. The Viking keys are high security Keys that are B-rated. They are long double sided keys, looks like 2 keys in one. The Barska has cheap barrel keys that can be opened with a paper clip.6. The Viking has 25 mm looking bolts and a MUCH stronger hinges. This can prevent a hammer attack. The Baraka just has two small hinges.7. Viking comes with an LCD screen - Barska does not.8. Viking has a spring opening door. Barska requires turning of a wobbly handle to open.9. Viking has motorized opening and closing. Barska requires the cumbersome wobbly handle which is the part that ended up breaking.Oh! one last thing, they also have a larger model for those that need more space.

Fantastic Depository Safe!
The Viking Security Depository Safe VS-40DS was an excellent choice. We are using this drop safe in our Church to secure the counted funds until it can be taken to the bank for deposit.Positive Notes:1. Well made! The outside casing as well as the drop door appear to very well made.2. Allows for two codes. The master code as well as the employee code can be changed to any three to eight digit number that you would like. The instructions to change the codes was very easy to follow.3. Backup Key - I went with this safe since it has backup keys just in case the digital lock were to ever die. Some other safes rely totally on the digital mechanism. I love technology, but you have to always prepare for a failure.4. Anti Fish Design Drop Door- Once the item is put into the drop door and the door is shut, there is no way for it be pulled back up.5. Can be Mounted - Pre-drilled holes are already in the safe on the back and in the bottom. It also comes with the bolts for securing the safe.6. Lights - As soon as you enter your code to open the safe, the electronic door will open, and the lights will come on. Yes, its nice to see what's inside!7. LCD Screen - Its a great feature to see what's happening!8. Motorized Opening and Closing - There is no handle to turn. As soon as you enter the correct code, the locking bolts retracts and the door pops open. Beautiful!Since I have a pretty big lockable bank bag, I do have to fold it one time for it fit in the door and be able to go down the chute. I had no problems with the disposable bank bags going down the chute or regular size envelopes.Very pleased with the product. I would definitely consider this if you are looking for a drop safe. I am glad I went with Viking than the Barska!

No More Fishing!
The main reason I bought this safe is because company employees had somehow been stealing money from our old depository safe.I did not know how at first because the safe seemed perfectly undamaged. It became obvious once I looked on the internet on how to steal from a depository safe. Look up mailbox fishing.Basically put duct tape to a string and pull the items out. Our old Barska safe had such a big gap I was able to pull things out in less than a minute. Took me awhile to get the string and get the tape but once I had it going it took seconds. Now forward to the Viking box. Biggest reason why I bought it was because it's supposed to have the best anti-fishing design on the market. I was skeptical at first but the results were great! As soon as I got it, I did the same test I did for the Barska depository safe. Although I was able to get the tape and string into the safe, every time I tried to pull something out it would be yanked back in! No more fishing! The safe seems pretty heavy duty. It's not a vault by any stretch but it gets the job done. It has some nice extra features like a spring opening door.Ability to have a master code was also important so I can let employees open safe but they can never lock us out if they try. Some other nice extra touches that I’ve found - LCD screen, motorized opening and ambient lighting. The latter is much appreciated for it does help in making sure nothing gets left behind.I’ll highly recommend buying the Viking VS-40DS depository safe. The extra money you pay is well worth it and will be easily paid off by not having any money stolen.
