Genuine Ebony quality weapon
Genuine Ebony Maasai Rungu Club. This is a traditional tribal weapon from Africa. If you didn't know, ebony is a wood so hard and dense it doesn't float. Yet this single piece of shaped wood is warm and instantly comfortable to weild. The one piece construction ensures the head is well balanced against the length, and perfect in size and mass (21 oz.)In the hand it feels like a natural extension of the arm, just another joint and limb, but with a wicked acorn style strike face. This is a beautiful weapon in every way.

Great decor, reminds me of the real thing
Love what I got, now I haven't hit anything thing with this and don't plan too. I focus on hanging on my wall as a reminder of my trip to Tanzania and meeting a masai tribesmen. I read others that did it broke, but come on, it's wood. Smack around most any stick and it's gonna crack. So it's a decor piece, but great weight and size.

Beautiful form and DEVASTATING POWER!
I have collected arms and armor for 40 years, and I have never held a wooden weapon with such terrifying percussive force as this cudgel. A match for a steel mace, and half the weight. This is the most practical tool for home defense outside of a firearm. Aesthetically pleasing to the eye as well and feels good in the hand. Devastating power and beautiful form in one affordable package.

A Review To Set The Rest Straight.
There are definitely some mixed reviews on this item so I will tell you my findings.Shipping & Delivery:This item was very poorly packaged and I can see why it was broken when some people received it. One of the pictures attached to this review is exactly as received still in the box, nothing removed. They just threw them in together with a piece of packing paper then taped it shut, leaving it free to rattle around. I actually knew the moment it arrived at my door because they were clanking loudly as the delivery man carried them. But luckily, they arrived unharmed. The Item:I ordered 2 for the purposes of using one as a test piece to determine if it is real ebony and the other as the one to keep, it may not matter to most but I am a glutton for accuracy. This is something some reviewers claimed to be false but they are in fact made from ebony wood. But, it is a different type than it is made out to be. They were coated in a thick black lacquer to appear more like (gabon ebony) which is native to Africa and likely what originals would have been made from, also the most prized of the ebony as it is naturally very very dark with almost no visible. These are actually (macassar ebony) or another form of (black & white ebony) which you can see in the other picture I took of a club I refinished next to one in original received condition. All I did was sand off the outer black coating and it was really quite nice wood underneath but with sections of a lighter softer bit of wood from the tree. It is by no means an inferior wood and honestly I like the looks of it a bit better, but it is likely a wood originally from Asia rather than Africa. I might refinish the other one and put it through a bit more oiling to bring out the contrast in colors.Overview:I am overall happy with what I got and for the price I think it was fair, but they shouldn't dress up the wood with a darkening lacquer to make it appear as something it's not (the proper variety of ebony). They should definitely improve their packing technique because this was honestly quite bad. And, if you're willing to do some sanding, oiling, and varnishing, the piece will end up quite beautifully and worth the money. Hopefully this review helps some people out.

This item arrived on time and as described by the seller.
I just came from a trip to Africa and saw these at a Masai village. They are made out of the wood of the Acacia tree. The wood is called Ebony and is very heavy and very hard. I wasn't able to purchase and bring back one with me, but found this on Amazon. I didn't see this item made, of course, so have to take the sellers word for it that it was made in Kenya and is, indeed, Ebony. But given the weight of the item and the irregularities (hand made vs machine)-it appears to be the real deal.
