Great Set—Minor Fix Makes It Perfect
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Great chess set. Just as advertised; the pieces have a nice weight, and the vinyl chess board is durable and well crafted.❌ PROBLEMS: • It does not come with storage bags for the chess pieces.• The quiver is not sturdy so the mat can easily bend making it look "limp."✅ SOLUTION• I inserted a 3" diameter PVC pipe in the quiver.👉 The PVC pipe should right below the seam of the top zipper flap of the quiver. Now this chess set is a perfect 5 stars.

I've wanted one of these for 20 years
This is exactly the sort of chess set that you will find most professional players using. This is just a good, sturdy, high quality chess set. It comes with a standard roll up board with ranks and files marked for helping you keep track of moves. The pieces are a nice weight and regulation size. If you are serious about tournament play or just want something that doesn't come in a cardboard box this is a great set. It comes with extra queens and a carrying case which is nice but not as sturdy as I remember. The material just seems to be thinner. It also seems like they could have used a little higher quality zipper for a few cents more. I haven't had any malfunctions or anything but with items like this some people care about quality. I'm kind of picky. I guess.Oh, and for anybody that is griping about the board not lying flat I have a solution for you. Roll it up with the bottom facing in next time and then when you unroll it the crown of the material will be up. Gravity will take care of the rest. If it remains a problem try lying it in the sun for half an hour. It will smooth out. THEN roll it up with the bottom to the inside. If you still can't figure it out buy a football.

Exactly what I needed
For $25 this is pretty much the best club set you can find. The pieces are definitely weighted (I do not understand the reviews claiming they are not; these are plastic pieces with ballast clearly in the bases. They aren't stone. They aren't supposed to weigh a pound each) Everything fits nice and neatly in the bag (Two thick ziplock bags included to separate the black from white pieces) Its not the best quality but I dont see it taking a massive beating. I guess the board could be a bit flatter but that's being pretty nit picky for the price point. Maybe try rolling it up in reverse to prevent this but its more than playable out of the box.Pros:-Price point-Weighted pieces (especially for kids)-Extra Queens-Carry bag-Easy on the eyes, visible colorwayCons:-Bag build quality isnt the best-Board doesnt always lay perfectly flat

Worth it if you play, not just move pieces.
Great weight and feel. The board is thinner than my last travel mat, but seams plenty durable. The pieces feel great, no complaints at all. The case is a bit lame, but I consider it a freebie as the value was made up in the set. I recommend using a 3.5” OD tube to protect the board once rolled up so it doesn’t get crushed. I also love these round leather bags to keep everything organized. I put a clock in-between the bags inside the carry case. Works wonderfully.

Very functional for the price.
Overall, I'd say you get your moneys worth, especially if you treat the mat with tender care, so it doesn't get nasty creases in it. There is plenty of coordinates on the sides to help you quickly figure out the name of the square a piece is going on. The pieces feel great, but its a very tight fit if you want to cram them back into the same bag as the mat.Pros:- The pieces feel very nice.- The mat is full size, and has a nice grip.- The mat fits nicely into the carrying bag.Cons:- The bag is not very sturdy, so the mat can easily bend in undesired ways, that can make pieces be a bit lopsided when you're playing, if you don't wait long enough for gravity or a weighted-surface to flatten it out. Thus what I learned is its important not to put much weight on the bag when the mat is inside.- The pieces may fit in with the mat, but it's a rather tight squeeze, so I recommend keeping the pieces in a separate regular bag. I keep mine in a zip lock bag (labeled and separated for each color), and then put that zip lock bag in my backpack. Then I buckle the provided bag onto the outside of my backpack.- The mat is not the most flattest right away, so perhaps not the most ideal for travel. But it's inexpensive, so it should do the job if for instance you want to play on a picnic table.- the d-file and e-file markers are missing on one side, with the logo taking their place. It's not hard to tell what they are based on the others, but I think it was a poor design choice.
