Thanks again! Great product. I had replaced check valve 8 years ago. Took the noise of sleep awakening hammering down to minimal. Worked great for 8 years. Recently ejector pump failed. Should have done myself, but short on time, so paid $1000 for national outfit to replace pump. During my oversight, asked if we should drain sump and look for debris.... no need was answer. 3 days of new ejector, sounded like helicopter hovering over house. Found to be stuck open check valve. Cut out the valve, found large shards of metal in valve - likely rusted out housing of ejector pump 10 years ago or old impeller parts. Took pump out and cleaned sump. A lot more of large metal shards and old hose clamps in the sump. Just waiting to jam and destroy new pump or lock up check valve more. The check valve was functioning great, just had shards remaining in the valve reservoir area. But had to replace because it was solvent weld and could not salvage enough pipe length with proximity to ball valve. Thank you for the new upgrade of screw fittings. And advice to others- do the project yourself to do right, or make hired help drain and clean sump to clear of debris that would surely lead to early failure.

Using in a basement sump pit with grinder pump. Before installing, my pump was running for long periods of time (it typically only runs for 5-10 seconds at a time to empty out the sump pit). I wasn't sure if a) the pump was bad, b) the check valve was bad (my original valve was not a 'see through' design) or c) my pipe had a clog somewhere.Turns out it was my old check valve that was bad. The install was easy (basic PVC cutting and gluing) and it comes with PVC attachments that let you unscrew out the valve if needed. This might be handy if I have to replace someday -- can just screw another one in without having to cut or glue.This valve lets huge amounts of flow through, and best of all it is COMPLETELY quiet. If I have problems in the future then being able to see the water flow will let me know if water is flowing to help with the diagnosis. No more water hammer when it shuts off, you don't hear it at all. Why didn't I buy this years ago?I've had it installed for about a month, so I can't yet speak to it's longevity but I see no reason it shouldn't last a long time. Completely satisfied.UPDATE - 15 months later and working perfectly. It's one of those things that you 'enjoy' every time it works. Sounds silly for a check flow valve but it's quiet and works so well. If you need a valve you must buy this. I paid full price for mine and have no relationship with the manufacturer!

Like many people have reported in their reviews, I had been putting up with a loud "clunking" noise for years every time my sump pump expelled water from the sump pit. The cause was an old Legend check valve with a rubber flapper. After reading the 95%+ positive reviews on this site, I decided to buy this "quiet" check valve in hopes of eliminating the irritating clunking noise. It arrived from the shipper, LA Pond, within 3 days of placing the order on Amazon. There were no installation instructions included with the valve, so I did some internet research and figured out how to properly install it. After removing the old valve, I discovered that the new Campbell valve was somewhat longer than the old Legend valve, so I had to cut 2" off the end of one of the existing PVC pipes to create the required 8" space between the ends of the two existing PVC pipes. The recommended way to install this valve is to glue the upper and lower couplers to the existing PVC pipes. Since I already had a can of PVC cement and a can of purple primer on hand, no trip to the hardware store was necessary. After gluing the couplers onto the pipes and letting them cure for 10-15 minutes, it was then just a matter of fitting the main body (the clear part) between the couplers and securing the unit in place by hand-tightening the threaded end caps. I then plugged in the sump pump, opened the shut-off valve above the check valve, and slowly filled the pit with a couple buckets of water to activate the pump. The result was just as I had hoped: no more clunking noise! And no leaks either. This is a wonderful product -- just wish I had installed it 5 years ago when I bought this house.UPDATE January 2018: After 4 years of use, this valve still works flawlessly.

About five years ago I went on a quest to silence a sump pump. I was tired of the water hammer that that followed every triggering of the pump. During and after any considerable rain there was a predictable hum and thump from the floor as the sump cistern filled and was emptied out in the yard. I did all of the recommended steps. I got rid of as many 90° turns as possible, I moved the piping away from joists then fixed it in place with thin foam insulating it from the wall and the clamps holding it. The last thing I did was install one of these valves. I can honestly say I don't know if the sump is still operational unless I'm standing staring at it when it runs. The clear body allows you to see the valve move.Cut to three weeks ago when we utilized new space in the basement. A family member slept in the newly renovated bedroom and made comment about the thump the sewage pump makes Everytime the cistern fills. When I ordered this I didn't expect it to be clear. When I received it I almost sent it back. I've been staring at the last three weekends. I finally gave in and installed. It was simple to place because of a ball valve I'd installed above the original. Unplug the pump, shut off the top-side valve, wrap the whole thing in paper towels and remove the old valve. I made a single cut on the bottom stretch of pipe to make the proper amount of room. A little primer and adhesive was used to set the end connectors in place and screw the flanges down to the valve housing. It's silent. The noise you hear in the video is predominately water from a toilet flush and sink running into the cistern to trigger the pump.If you have a noisy sump or sewage pump, don't hesitate to find one of these. That spring holding against the pump's water pressure will save your sanity.

Works brilliantly. I wish they had an opaque version. I'm using it for my basement sewage pump and I really don't want to see what's passing through it. Plan to keep it covered. I'm using a 1½ " version on the sump pump for the past 4 years - no issues (knock on wood!)Careful when cementing the coupler piece to the PVC pipe. When I inserted the pipe into it with both pieces cleaned and cemented - the pipe nearly completely popped back out instantly. I was able to immediately push the pipe back in and give it the required twist and hold the pieces together with pressure to fuse the pieces. So make sure that you hold both pieces under pressure from 30secs to a min to give the pieces time to fuse. Otherwise it will likely pop out and you'll end up with a weak or leaky connection.Docked a star for their non-existant customer service. No way to reach them. Which is a bummer!

Our sump setup previously had a cast iron backflow valve, with rubber "fernco" couplings. The cast iron valve failed, causing excessive vibration, which led to the rubber couplings slipping off the pipe. Needless to say, I urgently sought a better solution.This is it!Easy to install onto standard PVC pipe, with standard PVC primer and cement.When I first installed and tested, there was a slow leak. Realized that the o-ring in one of the mating faces had shifted out of place when I slid the whole fitting into place.Easily remedied, and now I have no more leaks!I also immediately noticed how much quieter this unit is compared to the old cast iron valve and rubber couplings. The cast iron resonated, and the rubber vibrated every time the sump pump kicked on. Now, it's about as loud as running the sink or a quiet toilet flush. Much better, especially because the sump is installed next to a couple bedrooms.This is great!

I bought this to help my daughter and her family. They live in a nearly new home with a sewage pump located in the basement. It would run every so often and then shut off with a loud bumping sound that was clearly audible throughout the house. They found it distracting and embarrassing when guests were there. The majority of the sound I thought was from a pipe in the basement ceiling that probably hadn't been secured well enough, but the ceiling was nicely finished so I couldn't reach it without making a mess.So after reading the reviews here, I took a leap of faith and ordered this product hoping that it might at least quieten the noise. My son-in-law and I installed it last week. Here's a tip--the pipe is not exactly under pressure, but it does have standing waste water in it that extends several feet upward, so when you break loose the old fitting, expect a brief shower of water that you don't want to think about. You can minimize the splashing by wrapping a rag around the fitting to keep it from dousing you up and down. Also, of course, have a handy bucket to capture the drainage.We also had to take it loose twice because the coupling leaked a bit after snugging it up. I just used PVC glue to fasten the top fitting to the 2" pipe to prevent it.The result? No more noise. The pump even sounds quieter now than before and it pretty much inaudible upstairs. When it shuts off, there's simply a cessation of pump noise. No more banging! I can't believe how effective this product works. The old check valve even has a swollen body to it and is the same shape as this one, but the difference is night and day (or banging and silence). If you have noise issues, give this baby a try.

Anyone who has an ejector/sewage pump in their basement and has not changed their check valve will definitely want to consider this unit. The difference between this quiet valve and a standard clap valve is tremendous. An added benefit to this unit is that it eliminates the jarring blow back caused by the ejected water coming back down on the old check valve.This is actually what prompted me to change out my system to be honest - I kept dragging my heels, ignoring the audible thump each time the pump kicked in. Over time, the vibration to the PVC pipe by the older check valve caused leakage to some of the joint fittings. I ordered this quiet check valve - ran to the hardware store picked up some PVC pipe, a few couplers and some PVC pipe glue. If you're a do it yourself'r this is a perfect weekend 1-day project.Results - more than I expected. The hinged spring loaded clapper creates a constant push back in the valve housing. When the ejector pump kicks on, water is expelled past the valve. As soon as the pump is done, the valve forces itself closed preventing the harsh slam that would normally take place. Standing next to the unit, there is a very slight sound of the unit at work - I no longer hear it from any other location within the house, which is great. Previously I would know when the unit kicked on when I was in the master bedroom up on the second floor!

I had tried several check valves and all were very noisy on closing. I was sceptical about the claims made by the manufacturer but for the price I thought it was worth a try. I was amazed by how quiet this valve is and well worth the price, which is not expensive. I would recommend this valve over and above any regular type to anyone who requires a quiet functioning one way valve and as a plus they have very fast shipping.

Fast shipping and as described.Used on my 2 inch sewer sump pump, which thumped repetitively for about 10 seconds, likely the fluid neared bottom of the sump trying to pump last bit out couldn’t overcome head pressure.Put this back flow preventer in and it worked great, no more thumping. Hopefully this lasts, but for the price you can’t go wrong. Not sure why it’s clear, maybe so you can see when it fails? Hope that’s not for quite sometime.

The mold has seams where the seals are , lightly sanded like reviews had mentioned soNo leaks I’m really hoping it lasts a long time because it is silent when the pump shuts off !We used to hear a bang threw out the second floor before so I def recommend this quiet valve .

Since it’s used for a sewage ejected system the clear plastic isn’t very attractive. But it works very well. Ultra quiet

What a difference. It lives up to the hype. Wish I would have know about this quite valve when the system was installed.
