    Save a surplus power supply

I recently picked up a generic PC power supply rated at 350 watts from my local Goodwill store for about $7.  Testing it, I found that the cooling fan barely turned.  Generally, people are discouraged from opening switching power supplies, but a fan is an obvious candidate for replacement if it is not moving much if any air.  Fan replaced, and the unit tests out fine.

It didn't work. At all. It took us forever just to get it in there because of overly complicated wiring inside the tower, and we finally get it all set up, and nothing happens. To be fair, it could be something wrong with the pc itself, but that remains to be seen. For now, the fan just doesn't work.
