It takes at least 4 weeks for them all to hatch.
They hatch after one day and are great

Minus One Star
I recall having fun as a kid watching these grow and wanted my kids to have the same experience. The kit is a lot smaller than I recall and pouches are almost empty, but anyway follow instruction to a T and ZERO hatched, probably expired product. I was thinking to have a refund but finding so many bad reviews I'm sure it's gonna be a waste of time as well.

Be patient…they are resilient!
The media could not be loaded. I bought this one year ago for my son, but this soon became mine!We used distilled water and prepped it with packet 1. The following day I emptied in the eggs, packet 2 into the little tank. Several days later we saw swimming specks. And that’s when we began to feed them on a weekly schedule. They grew quickly over the next couple weeks. We kept them near a window but never in direct sunlight, we never used a bubble wand or a little heater or light. Also algae never grew for some reason.Majority of the little guys only lasted a month or two, we didn’t remove their bodies. Two of them outlived the others to about 4 or 5 months, it was cool watching them swimming around, sometimes attached to each other or what seem like chasing each other. It was a cold winter and I had believed that had an impact on their lifespan, HOWEVER, after the last two died, I placed the tank (still containing the dirty water and all the little decomposed dead bodies) in my kitchen window while I debated either buying more eggs or a whole new kit with new tank. Well, several weeks later I noticed algae growing and…new…babies!Something to note is that the weather was still as cold as before, but the difference in my case was placing it in different window which had direct sunlight. I think that is what ultimately created the perfect environment for any remaining eggs to hatch and the algae to grow like a lawn.Take a look at the video, there are different sizes swimming around, I feel like they are really flourishing here. I leave the tank in the same new window which gets about 3-4 hours of direct sunlight daily and still feed them on a once a week schedule. It’s been about 3 months and they seem happy!

Lasting long an easy to care for
I was trying to find a unique gift for my son and I saw something similar on the Walmart app they were called hydro pets but the reviews were horrible one person suggested sea monkeys instead because they lived longer in there experience. I'm not sure what the hydro pets are I think a different species of sea monkeys but I did do research and I found a YouTube videos an everyone liked the sea monkeys brand. The upkeep has been easy you feed once a week and oxiganate once a week as well but I do that twice a week. And yeah we got these started on January 9th and today is February the 21st and they are doing just fine they even reproduce already but I should have had another tank to separate the Mama's because I think that they ate all the offspring one day there was tiny critters the day after next none. And I already knew that was possible but didn't know it would happen so soon. I'm looking into a bit bigger tank and a electric oxiganator with adjustable pressure. This package did not come with one of any kind, first I used a Popsicle stick to sturr the least suggested method now I use a old medicine syringe I cleaned an sterilized. Like I said so far so good simple to care for an neat to see them grow.

Perfect for teaching kids responsibility
I was telling my 14-year-old daughter about same monkeys and so I decided to get this for her. Although the tank looks disgusting, the sea monkeys are thriving! After my 8 year-old got to see her sister begin this kit, I got her one as well and she is finding pride in “raising hey babies.” This is a great tool for teaching responsibility of having a pet before you actually have a pet! Not to mention, the monkeys are always super cute. You care for them right and let them thrive! It’s really neat watching them grow from a dot you can barely see to a chunky little monkey that is well nourished and thriving. I’m also happy that this tiny tank is the way it is because my kittens cannot get into it! For some reason, they are obsessed with water and have tried to destroy these sea monkeys to no avail!! It is also a great way to bring a science project into the home!
