Mortal Engines [Blu-ray]

Great movie. Saw it on cable, and had to have it. Much better than the reviews.

Some drawn out dramatic scenes but overall a good action film.

The concept may be a little silly, but with all the great fx and great cast this is a fast paced thrill ride.

If you can let go of reality and accept that the cities in Mortal Engines have decided to become mobile, then this movie becomes much more enjoyable. However, I do think it would have worked better as a series. It seems like too much is wrapped up in a short amount of time. I'd love to see a sequel, or even a prequel to add more to the story.

I am not keen on this type of movie. However, second opinion person was eager to watch and it was a great movie. Good quality.

Boring boring

Action packed movie set in a far future Earth. All you have to do is suspend disbelief, sit back and enjoy.Great movie for the sci fi and fantasy crowd.

A futuristic post-apocalyptic fantasy drama which is overseen by the legendary filmmaker Peter Jackson.After the sixty-minute war which has devasted most of the infrastructure of the world leaving just remnants of humanity, who survive by hunting down and devouring weaker settlements, many of the remaining towns and city's are mobile predators, such as the mighty London.The film centres upon Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar) who as a child witnessed the man she'd looked upon as her father Thaddeus Valentine (Hugo Weaving) kill her mother, seemingly to possess an old machine he saw as imperative to his future plans.Before her mother died she passed on a locket that would prove of importance much later on, but could the 8-year-old who was also under threat by her father cling onto it?Years later whilst living on a small mining town called Salzhaken, it becomes the victim of the super-town London, Hester becomes a prisoner along with the town's other members.Escaping she comes across someone she thought she'd never see again -Thaddeus, a man of power within London, also a man with world domination ambitions.Hester tries with a knife she had concealed to avenge her mother, however, although she inflicts injury she is prevented from completing her intent by a historian called Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan) who gives chase toHester. However he is betrayed by the man he'd saved, both Hester and Tom disappear down a chute, Hester had jumped, Tom had been pushed.Surprisingly both have survived the fall, however, there is no trust between them.Not satisfied the two had died, Thaddeus sends out search craft, however, the two are saved and find themselves in a mobile town called Scuttlebug,However all is not as it first seemed, they have become prisoners to be auctioned off as slaves, enter Anna Fang (Jihae) who has been sent to save Hester as it is believed she will have the means to prevent Anna's home behind the great Sheild Wall (anti-traction) who are under threat from the great predator London.Can Hester and Tom really save the day?Although perhaps not the strongest story-line the film more than compensates by it's extraordinary and stunning visual content.The film is, without a doubt, fast-moving and often action-packed, and is, in my opinion, an exciting watch, if like myself you are a CGI Junkie this is certainly worth a viewing, it will not disappoint.

the movie is very good, the 3d is fantastic, recommended.

A nice dystopian movie: enough action to make it interesting, with a mild love story that gives a soft touch.it is also different from other SCI-FI movie to get the attention of the audience. An original story line. Good acting and a good scenario on top of that.

Um SUCESSO que acabou se tornando um completo FRACASSO !Visualmente e em termos de cenas de AÇÃO e de efeitos computacionais em CGI o Mortal Engines teria TUDO para ter arrebentado as bilheterias, uma vez ter sido lançado no ano ANTERIOS ao da pandemia.O fracasso de público mostra que os AMANTES de EFEITOS ESPECIAIS assim como os COLECIONADORES de MÍDIAS estão em COMPLETA EXTINÇÃO, assim como as pequenas cidades móveis mais do que bem ilustradas neste espetacular filme, justificando minha compra da versão em 4K por contar com uma riqueza ainda maior de detalhes Gráficos e de Paletas de Cor.Por ter sido uma das últimas grandes produções ANTES da PANDEMIA, contou com recursos de captação DIGITAL de imagens com um elevado grau de realismo, sem as típicas granulações de obras primas do passado, registradas em celulóide.Em termos de CLAREZA e NITIDEZ de imagens na versão 4K o MORTAL ENGINES perde apenas para PASSAGEIROS e ELISIUM filmados em resolução SUPERIOR e se equipara a ALADDIN que também foi uma das ÚLTIMAS produções da Disney ANTES da pandemia.Uma versão em 3D seria bem interessante para colecionadores e amantes de efeitos especiais, especialmente as cenas de combate aéreo.Outro filme que tinha tudo para ser um Grande Sucesso e também NAUFRAGOU foi JOHN CARTER Entre Dois Mundos, e que igualmente tinha incríveis cenas de BATALHAS AÉREAS, e que neste caso como 3D ainda estava em moda, acabou merecendo uma versão em 3D.Um detalhe curioso, como no caso do filme VALERIAN, é que os USA primeira potência produtora de filmes, acabou sendo um dos PRIMEIROS a ABANDONAR e BOICOTAR o formato 3D, de modo que só se consegue um Blu-ray 3D do VALERIAN para regiões B na Europa, por ter sido produzido na França e originalmente dirigido pelo mesmo diretor de O Quinto Elemento, de modo que para o público Norte Americano acabou não sendo lançada uma versão 3D do VALERIAN na REGIÃO A das Américas.Isso explica o porque de vários outros recentes lançamentos de um passado não tão remoto, como ALITA, X-MEN FÊNIX NEGRA, além dos demais filmes já citados, não terem sido oficialmente lançados em 3D no Brasil, pelo simples fato de os USA terem ABANDONADO este formato, inviabilizando a produção de conteúdo em MÍDIA 3D apenas para a América LATINA, uma vez que na América do NORTE o padrão 3D tenha ficado supostamente OBSOLETO...São essas incompreensíveis RAZÕES ditadas por um ATUAL mercado global e aparentemente SEM NEXO ou qualquer perspectiva futura, e sem nenhum LAÇO com as Glórias do Passado é que vem DITANDO o ILÓGICO curso global que o CINEMA vem sendo forçado a traçar.

The movie is fantastic--so much so that it inspired me to read all eight books in the series. So great..... so creative.Really wonderful science-fiction.
