Really good beginner pens
This is an excellent fountain pen for a beginner. Inexpensive and true to the finickyness of fountain pens in general. If new to this pen watch a video on how to install the cartridges. I had to get a small pair of pliers and very very gently squeeze the cartridge (while protecting it with a cloth) to get the ink to move into the nib area and then still had to coax the flow by lightly moistening my cloth and tapping the nib on the cloth to get it to write. That being said, well worth the money and you can buy refills for what is basically a disposable pen. Win win. As stated above find a video on “you know where” if you’re new to pens or this pen in general. I like to draw and this set will be fun for writing and drawing. Would have given it a five but for the thickness of the cartridge.

The best first fountain pen, and second and third. . .
The unique snap cap keeps the tip from drying out, the nib and feed work well with even somewhat non-standard inks, you can refill the cartridge with a blunt-needle syringe and forego the converter, and especially at this price, get a whole set. Most of the inks that come with them are not beautiful, but the green and pink are quite nice. The blue and black are grayish, the red is a strong/dark peach, the purple is almost magenta. The yellow is a true yellow, so while a good color maybe not very useful. These pens can use the Kuretake Karappo empty cartridges.

Size wise
I was concerned that there would be a big difference between the PSQ-400 .2 and this one, the PSQ-300 .3. I really like the tiny nib as it does not bleed if I use cheap notebook paper. This size is nice as well. I really enjoy these pens and I never have a problem with them drying out, even if I don't use them for a month or 2. I like to rotate pens. I am very happy with this purchase and would not hesitate to buy another set if I needed them. The cartridges fit perfect but do have a metal ball inside that you can hear and notice which some may not like. It does not bother me, but some have said it does. This is a GREAT fountain pen experience as it is reliable and not experience needed. I refill my cartridges with a blunt needle and syringe, but you can buy more cartridges if you choose. Some have even made this into an eyedropper pen. So many options for such a great price!

Not perfect, but terrific value for money
[EDIT: This review just went down to 2 stars; the pens seem to dry out a bit and start skipping after two days sitting idle. For me, yellow was the most affected but green is pretty bad too; purple was the only one not affected, but I think that's because it's defective in the opposite direction (too wet). Unless you use EACH color EVERY day for more than three lines of paper, these pens seem fairly unusable as a set of colors. It would probably be suitable for a daily use pen in ONE color that you use constantly. The primary point of a pen is to reliably get ink on paper, and these things are a huge struggle; I'm going to drop $10/pair for a much nicer set of pens.]Okay so this is actually between a 4 and 5 star review for me.As a preface, please forgive my handwriting; my application to medical school was rejected due to poor penmanship. What does this product have going for it? Price. At a bit over $2 per pen in this 7-pack, the pens deliver outstanding performance. That's a $2 pen WITH a cartridge of ink. The price is blindingly good. But, let's look at what these pens deliver for their $2 price point:Does it write? Yes.Does lay ink down on paper? Sometimes. I can definitely see variation between units. My above picture represents one single pass per pen. The black pen is the worst about skipping, but the red one has some issues too.Does it write smoothly? It's acceptable. If you want a pen that glides across the paper then you shouldn't spend only $2 on a pen. It's actually not bad at all; the pilot petit (not pictured) is a pen with twice the price tag and twice the scratchiness. Is the line width acceptable? Yes; it writes like a Japanese fine nib should. This writes only SLIGHTLY broader than a pilot explorer/metropolitan fine nib (Pictured: Dark purple, third from the bottom). Notice, however, that neither pilot nib I used has much line variation. These Platinum branded nibs have an impressive amount (but obviously they don't deliver as much as a flex nib, pictured second from the bottom)Other observations: First, a LOT of work went into engineering this pen. The caps are spring loaded to ensure the tips have a really tight fit. The nib units can be easily pulled out and replaced without emptying the pen and without getting ink on your hands. Why would you want to? I'm not sure; they don't really sell replacement nibs by itself. They DO sell marker and highlighter tips, so that's an idea for you.Half the feed unit is built in to the nib unit, with the other half of the feed unit being built into the grip. Cleaning this pen may be a challenge, but I haven't tried it yet.The pen is fairly comfortable to hold; it's a round cylinder of ABS plastic with zero ergonomics. For me, it works, but if you're picky then that may be an issue. It fits very well within my smaller hands whether posted or unposted; however I have yet to meet a pen I can't use unposted. I believe that men who wear size 14 (US) shoes might have an issue with writing unposted, but posted should be fine. For those of us within two standard deviations of average hand size, it fits fine. This pen uses some of the most annoying proprietary cartridges ever. They've got little metal bits in them that rattle around all the time. Very noisy. Very annoying. On Hecate I will convert all of these to eyedroppers if I can't fish those metal caps out of the cartridges. But again, the price cannot be beat. For my use-case, I needed a lot of different colored pen bodies in a narrowish nib size which were inexpensive and able to be transported in a notebook for the purposes of plotting multiple lines for math homework. These pens, while imperfect, are perfect.

Excelencia, calidad, consistencia, confiabilidad.

A pleasure to write with
These pens were recommended to me as a fountain pen for a beginner, which I am.Once I worked out I had to load the cartridge - total beginner when it comes to fountain pens - I was good to go. They are easy to write with, the ink flows smoothly and the nibs don't feel scratchy on the paper.I wasn't expecting much at this price point, but these pens exceeded my expectations. I would buy again.I like the fun colours, too.

Plumas Inconsistentes
