WARNING DO NOT EAT WHILE WATCHING THIS
No need to wonder what hell is like kiddies this is an introduction to and preview of it. Homicidal maniacs + murderers + some good old fashioned cannibalism = this stomach turning story. A woman visiting friends in a nice house set in the woods later on along with her friends has a horrific experience a family of murderous cannibals men women and kids living in the woods and dressed like tribal people raid the house and go on a killing spree/an all you can eat buffet. The survivors are dragged off to the cave where they live and tied upThis move is one big gore fest violent deaths beatings abuse etc and tons of blood, the blood and body parts being eaten look so damned real. my stomach will never be the same this is by far the nastiest cannibal movie ever and I thought ( Night Of The Living Dead ) was gross. Unless you have a very strong stomach do not eat while viewing cause I nearly barfed

The Ultimate Movie Review! -[...]
This is one movie that is not for the faint of heart. It is a creepy, twisted, blood bath, that holds absolutely nothing back...and that's what makes it awesome! From the creators of the Evil Dead trilogy, and the masters of the modern horror movie, Ghost House Underground. Offspring is everything you could want in a horror movie. Not just blood and gore, but a truly scary story. This movie has it all and I can honestly say I enjoyed every minute of it! Fans of horror and gore get this movie!

Why couldn't I fall deep in love with this!? After all, it is a cannibal flick.
I don't know Jack Ketchum's novels so I really can't judge this movie from its novel. So with that being said, here goes. 'Offspring' isn't the worst Horror I've seen at all, and I've seen plenty of stinkers over the years. It has its moments; the good is mainly the gore and the bad is low tension and suspense. I would of loved to have given this a five star rating since I'm a fan of cannibal flicks, but it had too much goofiness (mainly the look of the cannibals), in a film that tries to play out a serious vibe. I loved the musical score which reminded me of the same sounds that can be heard from many 70's grindhouse pictures!Although, the special effects are great and the acting is fair, 'Offspring' lost me with its cannibals. The reason why that is is because I find it hard to picture cannibals looking and behaving like cavemen in modern day America. There are more flaws that connect to this but it is this one that really gets to me. haha. Again, I'm unaware of the novel but for this film, I'm thinking these nomadic cannibals should of had a much more modern approach. Pretty much the same image of what Near Dark did to vampires should of been done with these cannibals! Wait, buy doing that, it would of been an entirely different flick. I don't know; I'm confused. haha. The flick also lacked in scenery. I would of loved to have seen more of the forest and coastline. Little background was shot. However, the ending is great! I loved the ending! To me the ending is the reward besides seeing some splatter action. All and all, not a bad flick that I wouldn't mind watching again later on. Oh, and I love the cover art for this flick!

Don't Expect Too Much, and It Will Deliver on a Few Levels!
I have not yet read the book. I'm sure it is better than the movie, as that sort of thing usually goes. That being said, I see two major flaws in the movie. Number one is that the story is not quite being told. What is going on here? Who are these cannibals? How does this other guy fit-in, this ex-cop who experienced these people before (was there an earlier book and movie that came before this one)?On the other hand this movie depicts a similar idea that I've often thought might be interesting. That is "just how primitive and wild were our early ancestors?" Don't hold back, how wild were they? How wild did they have to be to survive? When you fight up close with your prey and opponents, and you are using stone tools and weapons, it gets gritty! What would an average day be like. Okay, that might should be a separate movie! And the second problem was the directing of the "cave people." As stated, I have not read the book, so I don't know exactly how they are worked-in, in the book (or even if they are explained any more than in the movie). But in the movie there is a sort of (my interpretation) interesting depiction (well for folks who are not too put-off by the gore), of the wild, caveman cannibal, meeting the twenty-first century, middle class family. What would you do if you suddenly met a wild early ancestor, who was ready to serve you raw, to his family for dinner? It just wasn't exactly directed that way. Was not to, more in keeping with the book? And lastly the movie is a laugh (again, if you are not to put-off by such things). In a similar way as last century's "B-movies!" There is a little bit of comic relief built into the movie. And the plot (what plot can be discerned) openly invites the viewer to not take the picture to seriously! Laugh darn it! Laugh! That's all I got!

Nothing really spectacular or scary here
I needed to waste some time which is why I chose to watch. I agree with the low star reviews. Nothing really spectacular or scary here. The "wild" kids needed a better acting instructions/teacher/coach if they had one in the first place. A number of unrealistic parts take place. And what really annoyed me was the "cops" at the very end when they go off in the woods with the kid (trying not to be a spoiler) but why didn't at least one of them follow the kid up? Oh & the jerk gets off way too easy in the end....torture would've been more fitting....just saying.

What?
Very choppy...disoriented...and confusing. I'm not really sure I watched a movie that made sense...from start to finish. I tried to understand what was going on...but even the police in the film didn't have a clue but for a alcoholic retiree. There was plenty of second rate gore and pain, but gore needs to be partners with a sensible plot. I couldn't find one. "GHOST HOUSE" should be ashamed that they placed this one in their horror collector's file. You've lost a lot of credibility with me.

Woman, where it began.
Yes, well. I was not aware of this movie until I started hunting down "Women." So I purchased it as it was the first in the series. Not very good really. You find out where Women came from and all the background, add in some mindless killing and eating of people. Abduction of babies etc. Mindless entertainment.

An amazing movie which is raw
An amazing movie which is raw, unrelenting, and does not hold back. Very primal and graphic, the way it would be in real life; no sugar coating this one.

Entretenida
La película llegó en perfecto estado y en el tiempo previsto. Ya esta pues se nota que no tiene mucho presupuesto y que su guión da para poco más que un corto, pero entretener entretiene que es de lo que se trata.

Nasty little movie
I saw the Offspring in the wake of The Woman. Some fans told me that there is a prequel to The Woman and I liked that one so much that I had to see the other film. I was surprised how gruesome and how great the performance of Pollyanna McIntosh was (again). I was fascinated how you could turn a beautiful woman like she is in such a feral beast. Thumbs uo for a cool film and a promise for things to come for the second one, so if you haven't seen them, watch them in chronological order.
