This book gives really valuable advise on measurements and considerations for a good fit, things a professional might point out after!! the items have been purchased. I recommend reading this book before reading anything about designing a bathroom.

I am very impressed by this book. It is a wealth of information and I highly recommend it! It begins by giving the reader info on the history of everything to do with bathrooms. It includes pictures of how bathrooms have progressed throughout history and is quite interesting, even funny. It takes you through bathroom designing, step-by-step, from start to finish. It tells you how to get started, gives planning guides, info on codes, standards and pretty much any little detail you could ever think of or not think of. It is really a step by step guide to teach a designer or anyone for that matter how to design or remodel a bathroom correctly, in the most efficient way. It is full of pictures of styles, has check lists for things like job-site inspections, bathroom storage requirements,inventory, window measurement charts, fixture measurements, sizes of the client or you and the size of everything in the bathroom to fit the people using it. It is full of great suggestions on the ergonomics of the person using the bathroom, how to make it function properly, allowing enough room for movement, adding special elements like a coffee bar, ironing board, dressing closets, items for kids or disabled,etc. This book is a wealth of knowledge for the student, designer, home-improvement enthusiast, etc. This is really a stand alone book that is all inclusive. GREAT BOOK!

The National Kitchens and Bath Association have put out a very well written book that verifies and reflects their understanding and knowledge of Bath Design. If you are a contractor like me or a homeowner planning on remodeling or building a new bathroom, you will probably find this an invaluable resource. Pros: - Expansive. Begins with a historical perspective on Bath design up to modern day thinking. - Organized. Gives step by step bath planning and guides you thru the process. - Industry Standards and Codes Compliance. Rest assured your bath project will meet or exceed your local building ordinances. - Illustrations and Checklist included in text. Formatted like a school textbook with learning aides. - Comprehensive. Includes planning for individual needs based on height, handicap, age and future needs. - Progressive. Embraces and touches upon modern and future trends as well as the fundamentals. Cons: - Pricey. But what textbooks aren't. Not really a con I guess. - Technical. If you are looking for a book of good bathroom ideas and photos then you may want to look online at Houzz dot com or at some of the other DIY Bathroom idea books out there that may have more of an inspirational flair to them. This book is really more the nuts and bots of bath design. IMO. This is a 5 star text. Just what I was looking for,.
