Grateful to Nephyr and Pierce for this book and their many contributions to the studies of Thai Medical Theory that us farang who do not speak and read Thai would otherwise not have access to ... many thanks ... oh and I also recommend reading the review "Thai Medical Goldmine" *~~~;-}

This the absolute best Thai Herbal book written in the English Language. It has more information on Thai Herbs than I have ever found in one place before. I believe the only way that a person could find more information would be if they could speak and write Thai.

You would expect that you get a guideline how to use herbs for very specific conditions in your kitchen to turn food into medicine. Unfortunately this seems to be a translation from some old texts that have no medical merits. conditions are described in earth, wind, water and fire. Good luck turning this into something meaningful.

Love it! I refer to it often. Worth having in your library if you are an alternative healing practitioner.

First I'd like to give my respects and salutations to both Nephyr and Dr. Pierce, as well as to Tracey for making this book come into existence. I am lucky to have met these fine, outstanding and upright people whom care so much about Thai Medicine, and giving authentic experiential information to the public. So much effort, time, sweat, and tears has gone into the making and remaking this book. Moreover, all three of these individuals went through great labors of love and hair-pulling to make sure that it was as legit and true to source as possible.This is one of the best, if not the best, books currently in print and accessible to the western world regarding Thai Herbal Medicine.Let's be real for a moment. Anyone who wants to truly study herbology has to go study with a living, breathing doctor of herbs and medicine. That's a given, it shouldn't even be questioned, and I know for a fact that all of the authors here state this themselves. Moreover, when we go to study with a living breathing teacher of medicine, we need medical manuscripts and materia medica to use as references. This is the great beauty of this book. It serves that purpose, and beyond.It is a book that educates its audience on Thai Medicine. It gives them the steps towards building a foundation of understanding that one can begin to successfully and safely apply. This pearl of a book gives people background information to the various aspects of Thai Medicine that have not been made accessible to those outside the Thai-speaking world beforehand. This is one of the biggest gems this book offers. To highlight this fact, and to prove its focus on authenticity, for the first time the traditional Thai medical text called the 'Wechasueksa' พระคัมภีร์เวชศึกษา - a major text on Traditional Thai Medicine - is translated within this book. Furthermore, not just the text and its translation but the entire book was verified by and consulted with Thai experts in the traditional Thai medical field for validity, legitimacy, and efficacy as according to Traditional Thai Medicine. What more needs to be said about that?Nothing. Buy it. I wasn't expecting much from this book, as it was the only book I could find on Thai herbs I thought the information would be quite scant. However, this book is fantastic, giving very well written in depth descriptions of not just Thai herbs but a great many Asian herbs that are readily available in Thailand. Not just that, it also gives a full and very detailed description of the philosophy behind THM. I have found Thai Herbal Medicine to be much more effective than a lot of western herbs. It also gives the western name, Latin name, and Thai name for every herb (both in phonetic English and in Thai script).I would compare this work right alongside Bartrams for western herbalism. It's seriously that good. Fantastic work.
