fluidmaster 540 replacement
package arrived open, not sure why but it could have definitely happened in shipping, I installed it and adjusted the chain and it seems to be working perfectly, if you have a fluidmaster 540 3 inch these will be a good replacement if needed, the quality of the flapper seems to be pretty good

Much better than the one that came with the toilet
My old toilet flapper had warped over time, and our toilet tank had started refilling almost constantly due to the failed seal. The rigid structure to the flapper means it won’t warp over time like the cheap rubber one that came with my toilet. It stopped the problem immediately upon installation. Installing and adjusting this new flapper is also MUCH easier than the old one, because the piece that fastens to the lever is a much more practical design. The “bulb” is really interesting as well; you can turn it to let in more or less water, which causes it to float longer or sink faster, thereby closing the drain slower or faster, depending on how much water you want to use or how strong of a flush you want. I chose to keep it all the way closed, so it stays full of air and floats on top of the water as it drains down. This causes almost the entire tank to drain before the flapper closes. I did test it with the bulb at different levels and it makes a BIG difference in how quick it closes and how much water gets used, but the toilet I was installing this on has issues flushing sometimes, so a stronger and more consistent flush is part of what I was looking for. Pros: • Works great • Won’t warp over time • Adjustable water-saving feature • Easy to install and adjust Cons: • A bit more expensive than some of the other options. I needed two new flappers, but chose to only buy one to make sure it worked. Despite it being more expensive, it was so easy to install and fixed my problem so immediately that I came back and bought the same one the next day.

super easy install and removal
Just gotta say, these newer type flappers are great. They have a snap on end that goes on the tube side that was pretty easy to snap on, much easier then wiggling the rubber off those end pieces that stick up. I had to remove it once to adjust the water, so it just snapped off just as easily. To adjust flush water amount, that clear bulb like thing, just pull up on it and turn it to adjust it to the number, higher means it flushes more water. I set it to 9, which my toto toilet supposed to use 1.3 gallons i think at setting 6, but i found that i prefer it to flush more water down to insure there are no clogs. So far so good, but when i first installed at 6 not only was the water level lower but seemed to flush much less water. I adjusted my korky fill valve, which is highly recommend, super easy to adjust fill level. So water was only filling up half way but after adjusting the fill valve toilet works great as it always has and this flapper seems much more heavier duty since it uses more plastic then the rubber which with hard water tends to deform after time and you get the middle of the night leaks or ghost flushes lol. So do i recommend this, yes it worked great and it seems universal for most modern toilets that have a 3" opening.

Easy replacement for 3" flapper toilet valve and adjustable
Installs easily and is adjustable (rotate the wheel on top of the flapper) to vary the amount of fill. Almost always recommend to replace when you are installing another inlet valve.

Inspires confidence - And now time-tested: 9 years!
Easy to install. Instructions were adequate. Expensive, but if it works a long time, will be worth the money. For my Toto toilet, it seems the 'spread' adjustment for the pivots needs a spot in between A and B. I put them in between, but there is no detent, so I don't know how well it will stay. Adjustable flush volume is a nice idea. I have not checked to see if the default setting of '10' causes my 1.6 gpf toilet to use more water than it needs to. If it survives the durability test, I may work on fine-tuning the flush volume. The original Toto flapper is a disaster. It is made of soft rubber/elastomer and is not rigid enough to span the 3" flush port. The weight of the water in the tank eventually deforms the flapper until it leaks. Only lasted a year or so. The rubber doesn't degrade, the flapper just deforms till it can't seal properly anymore. This Fluidmaster design appears to address this issue by using a rigid plastic structure to support the soft elastomer seal. UPDATE-03/30/2014: This product has passed the 6-month point with no further issues; still functions as expected. In fact, I had forgotten about it until something else reminded me. (A good thing.) Bottom line... I'm happy so far. UPDATE-08/23/2015: Now in service 22 months. No issues. I can say with confidence that it beats the original. I have hopes it will continue to serve well for several more years. UPDATE-02/18/2017: Still working well at 40 months. No issues or adjustments. I had (again) forgotten about it until a friend told me about their own toilet maintenance trouble. I can definitely recommend this flapper. UPDATE-05/5/2020: Still working well after 6.5 years. A few months ago, I began to hear the toilet refilling on its own - a sure sign of leaking. However, I removed the flapper, cleaned the elastomeric seal and reinstalled it (because it looked fine). No more spontaneous refilling; it's still working well. UPDATE-09/16/2022: Still working in the Toto. 9 years. I have not seen any evidence of bubbles forming in the seal as reported in more recent reviews. Hopefully, Fluidmaster has not changed the material or process.

Perfect fit.
Perfect fit 😄. We have extremely hard water and the flowmasters products have stood the test of time.

Easy to install but may loosen over a short period of time
Installation was simple and it worked great initially. After about a year, the hook tends to loosen and fall out of the pole it attaches to, which can prevent the flap from closing properly. This happened on all my bathrooms around the same time, so be aware it might not last long-term.
