## Description

desertcart.com Biting fleas are more than just a nuisance for your cat. Left unchecked, they can cause serious disorders such as flea allergy dermatitis, secondary skin infections, tapeworms, and even anemia. This topical flea treatment stops fleas before they become a problem. Providing a full month of protection, it begins working in minutes, killing 98-100% of the fleas on cats within 12 hours, and 99% of flea larvae within 20 minutes. Plus, since dead fleas can't lay eggs and dead larvae can't hatch, the flea's life cycle is halted. Any new fleas your cat encounters are killed within two hours--preventing re-infestation for as long as four weeks. In fact, Advantage does such a good job breaking the flea's life cycle, there's no need to treat your cat's environment. Applied before the start of flea season, it helps keep your cat from becoming infested in the first place. Used year-round, it prevents fleas from over-wintering in your home to feast on your cat the next season. Safe for kittens as young as eight weeks and as small as nine pounds, Advantage is also water-resistant. This package includes 4 pre-measured doses in easy-to-use applicator tubes. Warnings Hazards to Humans: Causes eye irritation. Harmful if swallowed. Do not get in eyes or on clothing. Avoid contact with skin. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and warm water after handling. Review: IT WORKS! 24 hours after application and NO LIVE FLEAS. - I like to know things. One question I had was how in the *#*@ does an indoor cat get fleas? I looked it up and it's a lot more common that one might think. Fleas are jumpy little things that find their way onto shoes, clothing, and other things people bring home with them. Unless one never leaves their house, there's a very good chance of bringing fleas in with you without ever knowing. Long story short, once I noticed the fleas, I took steps to get it under control. A flea comb is essential! My vet recommended a topical, so I spent the big money and went with a FRONT of the LINE solution. It was supposed to be the best in the biz. I followed the directions and it did absolutely **nothing** for my cat. I was still combing live fleas out of her by the hundreds. It was a total waste of money. A week later I applied another dose of the FRONT of the LINE topical. Again, it did absolutely **nothing** for her. After which, I tried a flea spray to no advantage. She hated it, it smelled terrible, and because she hated it, I couldn't get it far enough into her long fur for it to do any good. We ended up using the spray on our furniture and her carpets. We did NOT want to put her in the bathtub. I mean, if you've ever bathed a cat in less than a full suit of armor, you know what I'm talking about. I purchased a dry flea & tick shampoo along with the same brand of spray. The waterless flea bath "does" kill fleas after a few seconds in the foam, but she hated it so much her behavior changed drastically. Drastically enough that it scared the crap out of me. She stopped coming in the living room, stopped perching on the back of my chair, wouldn't jump on me for cuddles, was lethargic, and stopped sleeping on my chest after I went to bed. She wasn't acting like herself. At. All. That said, I was still combing live fleas out by the dozens. That number would have been a lot higher but since she was already not acting like herself, I didn't want to stress her out even more by doing more combing. Enter Advantage II Large Cat. I always do a lot of research before using a new product. I had seen the nightmare reviews of skin burns and worse. Even so, there were a lot more good reviews than bad...and I was getting desperate. Using the Advantge II Large Cat was my 2nd to last resort. IF it didn't work, she was going to get a water bath...and I don't have a suit of armor. I was looking as forward to doing that as I would look forward to dragging my body over razor wire...which is essentially the same thing. I am very happy, thrilled in fact, to report that this product worked beautifully! I properly applied the product on 10/29/25 at 3pm. I was very careful to make sure I parted her long fur enough for it to get on her skin. The product takes a full 12 hours to reach is max potency. After 12 hours, I was coming less live fleas from her. It is now 10/31/25 and at last combing, there were NO live fleas. Zero. Ziltch. Nada. Her behavior is returning to normal, she's not scratching/biting like a little banshee anymore, and she had no adverse reactions to the product. I will continue to be diligent with the flea comb to see if she needs another treatment next week. Knowing what I know now, I wish I wouldn't have wasted my money on the FRONT of the LINE solution and used Advantage II Large Cat from the get go. I could have saved my cat and myself a lot of undo stress and worry. I highly recommend this product. Note: If one is worried about their cat's skin, I recommend using one or two drops to "test" how your cat will react to it before giving the full dose.
Review: 72 hours later, we are flea free! - My particular boy hates all oral meds and rather than fight to the death, I decided to try this based on the ratings. Parted his hair while he was snoozing, applied the treatment on his skin between his shoulders and neck, and let it do its thing. I did a thorough flea comb before applying to try and get out as many as possible, I combed him every day for the last 3 days and today we’re pulling nothing and no flea dust is visible! I’ve not noticed any side effects whatsoever, and he’s just as happy as ever. I did also treat the house with clear spray to prevent a bounce back.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Why is the item called "Bayer K9 Advantix II Flea and Tick Control Treatment for Cats"? The Bayer K9 is, of course, for dogs.**
A: Please be sure to use ONLY Feline Advantage on cats and use ONLY the dog Advantage on dogs! The use of canine Advantage on cats WILL kill them giving them severe neurological damage! I wish that Advantage would make the packaging TOTALLY different for cats and dogs, it would help. Especially with people who may not see the difference at first glance. My elderly mom accidentally applied the large dog Advantage to her cat and it had to be put down. Mom has felt horrible about it. Awful experience. Also about dosing, I have a 19 year old cat and I have used feline Advantage on him every summer for about 3 months for well over 17 years. It works wonderfully for him. I have always used the large cat product but since he has lost some weight this year I called Bayer and asked if I should use a smaller dose. The person at Bayer explained that Advantage works on body AREA as well as weight. So even though my cat has lost some weight (he's 9 pounds) his body AREA is still the same (loose skin) and so I have been applying the large cat dose and it has worked well for him this summer with no ill effects. I cannot speak to the authenticity of this Amazon product as I purchase my Advantage from the local pet store.

**Q: When using this medicine, do I also need to flea bomb or spray the apartment ? Or will the medicine kill all fleas in the apartment, as well?**
A: You'll find a wide range of advice on here. I can only tell you what has worked for me on several occasions. This topical treatment will kill only the fleas that get on your cat. There are several options for your home. They range from safe/natural formulas to strong pesticides. The all safe/natural offerings work for a short time and only kill the fleas that come in contact with the spray. I keep a bottle outside to spray on my feet and ankles to kill the fleas from outside that have hopped on me while in the yard. Great for this and for bedding. Next, as for bombs - there is only one that I have found that works. Most bombs are cans of spray that has a button that locks down to empty the can of spray. They may work but only cover a very small area effectively. Raid makes a bomb that you drop into a supplied plastic cup with about an inch of water in it. When the bomb canister hits the water, it will begin to smoke. The smokenfills the entire area. Three cannisters come in the box and can cover a small house effectively, every nook and cranny. It is called Raid Fumigator. I have NEVER had to use it twice. This type of treatment requires you to remove ALL pets for about 6 hours, but it does work. Raid also makes a carpet spray that works well. But again, pets must not be around it until the fumes die down - about 30-40 minutes. Two other options are Boric Acid or diotemaceus earth (food grade!). These two products are applied similarly. You sprinkle them on carpet or furniture and take broom or brush to rub them in. This will take a few days to a week or so to get control of a home invasion. They work by cutting the exo-skeleton of fleas, roaches, etc and cause them to dehydrate. The Boric Acid can cause irritation to some pets or people, where the diotemac ous earth is 100% safe other than breathing the fine dust that occurs only when you are applying it. Both work great! The problem with a lot of people complaining that a product doesn't work is that they don't realize that the flea you see is only 5% of what is in your house. The other 95% are eggs (laid about 50 at a time) and the larvae. There is a cycle that last up to several weeks. When these doubters kill the 5% adult fleas and then find more fleas a few days later, they think it doesn't work. But in reality, they are see new hatchlings. That's where the Boric Acid and Diotemaceus earth come in handy if you can't use the Fumigator. An infested home can seem unsurmountable but try the products that you feel safe with, give it time and vacuum everyday you can and you will win!

**Q: Is this 6 month supply a 6 pack of tubes?**
A: Hi Doreen... Actually, I bought the 4 pack because I have four cats. I had earlier in the month bought a 4 pack someplace else, so I had two treatments for each cat. I did the treatments three weeks apart (the instructions say it is OK to do if you wait seven days). I bought the 9+ lb. package as three of the cats are well over that weight. One cat is a bit smaller and I didn't use quite all of the tube on her. None of the cats had any bad reactions, and it worked well for three of them. The other cat (partial Maine Coon) had some results, but not so good.

**Q: Does this kill ticks? If not, what do people recommend for ticks?**
A: To get rid of fleas and ticks use Frontline Plus. I started to use it on mine a year ago it killed the ticks and fleas. I reapply it every other month and I haven’t seen one since.

With my review i am going to address points from reviews posted. This review is only based on my personal experiences. 1. Price. Yes, this product is expensive. However, it's absolutely worth it. It works very well and I've always felt that my cats not suffering is more important than the price tag. Also, here on amazon is significantly cheaper than other places. (Saved $20 buying it here instead of 1800petmeds) 2. Balding. There are a few things that need to be known for this product. Make sure you are using the appropriate dose for your cats. Weigh them. Do not assume their weight. If they are on the borderline, use the smaller dose or dont use all of the larger one. Also dont put it all in one spot. Make a line from the back of their neck to their shoulder blades. 3. "Frontline is cheaper and does the same thing". Incorrect! Frontline is cheaper but in order for frontline to work, the fleas have to bite the animals. This product does not require them to be bitten. 4. "Fleas didnt go away." You cannot expect any flea product to completely rid your home of them. It takes a minimum of 3 months to completely get rid of them if you actively fight against the fleas. You need to vacuum your floors and furniture every day at least for awhile. You also need to keep up with your laundry and wash blankets regularly, including your bedding. And its also very important to be spraying your furniture down with flea spray. RAID or Hotshot work wonders for this! Spray your furniture and bedding down every night. I also spray in the crevices of my apartment because fleas like to hide. 5. "Fleas were going everywhere so i had to give them a flea bath." Do NOT do this. Them jumping off your pets is a GOOD thing! That means the product is working. If you bathe them before the product has time to set it, you just wasted your money. This is why you need to be keeping up with prevention in your home. Theyre jumping off your animal because the product is working. Vacuuming, washing, and spraying is what will combat the infestation. You CANNOT get rid of fleas completely in a short period of time so dont expect a miracle. That's where people get disappointed. Let the product do its job and play catch up for the next few months. And make sure you're keeping up with the doses!!
