Great mixing palette!
I love this porcelain mixing palette! It feels dense but not too heavy & the wells are just the right size to not overfill with paint. Although it's petite, some may say the wells are ”mini”, I only had to fill them one additional time during my 3-hour painting session! It’s super easy to clean & doesn't stain like my plastic palette so I’m never scared that the leftover paint will reactivate & ruin the fresh paint.I agree that it shows you the true color of the paint & I like mixing on the lid. However, if you have a large brush like the Da Vinci Casaneo watercolor brush in size 6 then this mixing palette will be too small unless you take a smaller brush like the Da Vinci Casaneo watercolor brush in size 2 (the one I have) to apply the color onto the lid first then pick up the color on the lid with the larger brush to paint the page with one stroke. That can be inconvenient so that's why I give it a four for the value in money.Other than that, this palette is nearly perfect! I personally like the size, that it's easy to clean, using it as pans to hold tube paint & that the color of the porcelain doesn't distort the shade so it looks the same on paper.

Great little palette for a small space or a a second, companion palette!
I was looking for a small palette with multiple, wells that had a flat mixing area and wouldn't have much of a footprint on my desk, since it would be sitting next to my main watercolor palette. The lid provides a flat mixing area and tiny wells hold just enough color to get more out of my pan paints without sacrificing to much desk space. Where this palette really shines for me is when mixing up concentrated colors from tubes (watercolor and gouache), liquid watercolors (Ecoline) and colored inks (Dr. Ph. Martin's Bombay India Inks). I use a row of wells to mix different concentrations or ratios of colors side-by-side. This is very convenient when I'm working on illustrations where my color varies from one small are to the next. And, with concentrated colors, a little goes a long way, so large wells aren't necessary. When I do need larger mixing areas, I either add in a couple of ramekins or switch to a larger palette and give up some of my work space. Most of the time, I don't find that necessary.

I will never use plastic palettes again!
I will never use plastic palettes again! The whole set overall is great! I use watercolors all the time therefore I'm constantly painting, the paint washes off perfectly, no more scrubbing to get paint off! My art table is a drafting table, and I was looking for something that would fit without having to take up a lot of space. This is perfect in size for my table. While the lid does not fit flush I'm not sure that is possible with porcelain, its okay since I use it as extra space for mixing my paint. In the future I will order more if I need one. For now this has become my new favorite!!!

Very Hand Made
It is a nice palette and does feel very “hand made”. Meaning, it is not 100% laying flat or straight. To some this doesn’t matter and can be a cute aesthetic but I can see how to others that want to use the lid for mixing watercolors etc., or to have something that locks in place/is more airtight, it is a fatal flaw. The circle spaces for the paint are easy to scoop out but are also pretty small so you can only put a small pea sized paint glob or they’ll get messy and mix together later on. Overall I like the palette, it feels nice and artsy, but I am returning because of the non flat edges and think I’d rather have square shaped spaces for paints.

Top/Cover Piece Imperfect
I would rate the product much higher if it was not defective. The lower portion of this mixing tray is very nice, but the lid is not flat. It is bowed so the middle dips in and does not fit the mixing tray. You could hold water on the outside of the top. Unsatisfactory quality control. The top was damaged in the firing process. I plan to use the inside of the top as a mixing area, but I will need this to be replaced before that is a possibility.

Great little watercolor palette.
I love this little palette. I watercolor cards so I do not need a large amount of paint squeezed out of my tubes at one time. All thou this palette does hold a fair amount of paint in those holes. If you have never used a ceramic palette before than you will find that the ceramic palettes are wonderful!!! They are heavy so they can not be knocked off your table easily. So easy to clean with no staining. Plastic palettes stain easily and can block the color you are trying to mix on them. And I do take this palette with me. I just wrap 2 thick rubber bands around it and away I go! I use a small butchers tray to mix my colors in. I love this palette so much that I threw away all my plastic stained ones.

Mixing dish problems
The paint palette is good however the mixing tray is bowed. While it does sit flat on one side, it rocks when placed on the opposite side. Disappointed in the quality of this piece.

A lot bigger than I thought!
I bought this for my new Winsor and Newton gouache paints. The tubes are small and stains, so I wanted to use a smaller palette to make my tubes last longer. I am planning to add little cushions on the edge of the lid so I can close it without panicking about breaking it. It seems pretty sturdy though! It's not airtight, so a way I'm planning to keep my paints fresh is to put it in a little baggy. This palette is a lot bigger than I anticipated, which was a nice surprise. The top doesn't lay flat, so you could grab a rag and put it on it if you like.
