If so can you explain why it does** A: Thank you for your interest in TheraBulb. I am one of the owners of TheraBulb. The bulb in question is what is known as a broad spectrum incandescent bulb. It emits energy in the wavelengths of 400nm - 1000nm. This includes near infrared energy (700nm-1000nm), which is not visible to the naked eye; red light (650nm-699nm), which is visible; and other visible light (400nm-649nm). It also produces heat, reaching a peak temperature of 270 degrees Celsius. The output I just described is the product of electrical current passing through a tungsten filament, which is how all incandescent bulbs work. If you do not want heat or want specific wavelengths, such as near infrared only, you will want to look for an LED bulb (which we do not sell on Amazon). LED bulbs have electronics in them that can be programmed to emit specific wavelengths only. **Q: Can you advise what lamp I can use for this bulb** A: A brooder clamp lamp works well. In the coming months TheraBulb will have our own brooder clamp lamp.
