This precision monitor can detect symptoms of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar in diabetics). It is a self contained device that incorporates two sensors located on the rear of the product, which is designed similar to a wrist watch. These sensors, when in contact with the skin of the wrist or ankle, respond to perspiration and body temperature (cold sweats) which are two common symptoms of low blood sugar. If a cold sweat is detected, a built in vibrator operates along with a tone beeper alarm. The persistent vibration from the alarm is sufficient to disturb most users from sleep, enabling a blood test and remedial action to be taken quickly. This alarm is for use when sleeping - it is not intended to be used as a day time alarm. When used in accordance with the instruction guide, it can detect early symptoms of hypoglycemia and thereby helps to reduce the likelihood of more serious health complications. The device has a comfortable adjustable elastic strap that exerts sufficient pressure to hold the sensors firmly against the skin. The outer case is manufactured from a durable ABS material that is durable and long lasting. The only ongoing maintenance required is to replace the lithium 3V battery (CR2032) - which is likely to be required a couple of times a year. There is a low battery warning tone to advise of battery replacement requirement. Operation of the alarm is very simple and it provides confirmation beeps for button operation, so is also usable by those who may be sight impaired. By keeping a record of night-time alarms, the data can be used to adjust insulin doses to prevent nocturnal hypoglycemia. The alarm is lightweight, only weighing 17g with a small case size - width 34 x height 54 x depth 14.61mm (1.25 x 2 x 0.5"). Note: It is normal for your device to sound occasional false alarms. These can be minimized by ensuring the band remains snug during use or wearing on the ankle to keep at a constant temp under blankets.

Disappointed
This didn't work for my mother. Every time she took her arm out from under the covers in her sleep, the alarm went off and woke her up. It went off twice in three hours. The only way this will work is if you keep your arm on top of or under the covers at all times. I think that it will probably go off outside the covers if the air conditioner comes on and blows on your arm. I was disappointed because I have found her on the floor on more than one occasion when she tried to get up during the night after her blood sugar dropped too low.

Not a dismil failure
I'm a bit disappointed in how this works. I've had several false alarms, which is quite annoying. We've discovered that when I sleep I have my arm under the blanket, but with the heat we have the air conditioner on above the bed. When I take my arm out from under the blanket and the cold air hits my air, the watch thinks I'm low. It's also gone off a few times for no apparent reason.

It worked for 2 nights then it broke.
Since reporting the incident and asking for a replacement and/or refund, it has been more than 1 month to get a resolution currently of a denied claim. In my opinion, this product and company is only out for a profit with no real assistance to those that live with diabetes.

It works.
It works as it should. The false alarm is when the room temperature rises and the arm gets sweaty. The alarm is loud enough to be audible by someone in another room.

Finally I can sleep at night
My wife is Diebetic and I would have to monitor my wife for cold sweats to make sure she was ok. There are countless times that I have woke up and she would be in a cold sweat with her blood sugar 40 or below. The Night Sweat Alarm has woke my wife up when her blood sugar was high and low. On occasion it does alarm when nothing is wrong. However, this is rare. I attribute this to her wearing it on her arm and while sleeping placing it in front of the fan she sleeps with every night including the winter. But I do sleep better knowing it is not up to me to wake her up. I would hihgly recommend this product.

rip off
it did not look or feel like 140>00 worth the wrist band was cheap, and the battery compartment looked and felt very breakable. They charged me $20.00 upon return because I open the tape seal on package to look at product.
