Update.
At first glance this was a nice light. I liked the light weight build, and the multiple settings. I bought this to replace my Cygo lite 700.Unfortunately, this light has made it 4 months before the light dimmed, now only has two settings; very dim, and very dim flashing. It was a fair price of $40, which is $10 a month for use. My Cygo Lite is still going strong after 2 years so I know where my next investment will be going.Update:After posting this review, received a message from Alex in Customer Service within hours of posting. Needless to say, he sent me a free replacement, honoring the year warranty they offer.Based on that type of customer service, I had no choice but to give a 5 star rating, as I received my new super bright light in a matter of days.

Very Bright! A true headlight for a bike.
UPDATE: This lights up the night! At first, I thought a quiet car had come up behind me, then I realized my own light was throwing all the light in front of me. This shows me the road ahead at least as well as car headlights - on the low setting. I'll use medium or high if I'm on trails at night. They're brighter than I need on the road. Low is sufficiently bright to light up at least 200 feet in front of me, clearly showing debris in the road, branches, potholes and leaf piles. The included rear red bolt light seems very bright and very well made; solid. Both lights secure with a stretchy strap for quick removal and ease of charging. My light arrived quickly. It's impressively packaged in a sturdy good quality cardboard box that reminds me of the packaging my iPhones had. It came with two USB cables, one short, one a more typical length. I charged it overnight. When I checked it this morning everything works properly, on the high setting, it's very bright, and it appears to be well made, clearly worthy of the box it came in. I'll update after I've put this through some night rides on my commute through unlit streets with piles of yard waste, rubbish cans, and road debris.

Six Stars!
Unbelievably bright! I have an electric bike that will do nearly 40 mph and needed a light I couldn't "out run" at night. This thing is brighter than any flashlight I have ever owned. The light path has a wide even circular spot in the center area, and a wider secondary, slightly dimmer, rectangle area that floods a wide swath well beyond the center spot. The rectangular shaped outer area is good to help control the coverage and keep the light out of folks faces and aimed where you need it. Of the dozens I looked at, I narrowed my choice to two. The Shark 500 lumens or the Shark 300 lumens light. $40 is a bit pricey, but for $10 more I decided to get the 500 lumens light because I figured it is better to use the 500 at medium power and lasting longer, that saving $10 and running the 300 at full power, and shorter duration. If there was I six star option, I would choose it. The 500 at medium power is plenty. When you need that extra shot of light for that full power run, its available. And when your going slower and in well lit areas, back it off to medium or low to conserve power.I really can't see needing anything with more lumens unless you have need something for the light bar on your 4 wheel drive monster truck or trying to illuminate and runway. You can pay $8 for something to strap on your handle bars and pretend you got something, or get serious and invest in a light that you will truly love to own. Last thought; I bought larger iClever Boost Cube, dual port USB wall charger instead of using one of those small 3/4"x3/4" wall adapters. The larger iClever wall charger will supply the amperage the light needs without getting warm. The small adapter does get very warm; that means its working too hard. The dual ports mean you can charge both lights at the same time. Onward and upward!

Great likght while it worked
Review Update: I repurchased this product hoping for better results and I couldn't be happier. When I purchased item I was contacted by seller to make sure I had no problems with transaction. I mentioned I had purchased item previously but it became unusable shortly after purchase. Seller refunded initial purchase under warranty and I received the new light. Seller mentioned issues with previous model had been addressed and after more than two months of daily use 1 to 2.5 hours per day I have had no issues. Works perfectly and very happy with product and seller.Great light while it worked. I use a bike light about an hour everyday. Provides a bright, even light beam that illuminates obstacles in path ahead of you and also provides great visibility to vehicles so you don't get run over. Problem was that about after a month a daily use, the light would turn off randomly. At first, one press of the power button and it was fine again, but over a couple of days problem got worse and light would turn off repeatedly within thirty minutes. Light would cycle through different modes and then turn off. I always fully charge the light every night so I'm sure it's not about the battery being charged. Too bad because the light works well otherwise.

Works well in really dimly lit areas, good battery life and has a low battery indicator
Works best in lighting up my path when it gets really dark and that’s what matters to me. The flashing mode on the smaller light is very useful. I’ve installed it beneath my bike seat to improve my visibility on the road. Was easy to install and warned me before the battery died out and lasted a good 15mins which allowed me to complete my ride. Would consider buying it as a gift for my cycling enthusiast friends.

Great light, but mount is not my favorite.
This light works great. It is bright, easy to use, does exactly what the seller says it does. So why only 4 stars? The "rubber band" mounting system just does not work well for me. It is easy to use, quick to attach, and doesn't fall off. My problem is that it moves around and won't stay aimed the way I want it. Every time I turn it on or off, or try to attach the USB charging cable, it moves slightly. If this light came with a rigid clamp type mount, it would get 5 stars from me.The little tail light is also nice, but has the same problem (for me).

Unreliable after a few months..
After using it for several months (around 10) it started becoming extremely unreliable. While it's fully charged, it won't last for more than 5 minutes, it's non responsive in cold conditions (like 10oC or below) and it turns off at every minor bump the road has. Extremely frustrating as people suddenly won't see you. I need to stick my hand on it and turn it on every time this happens (every few seconds!). I will request a full refund for this and return the item. Thank goodness this happened before the 1 year of purchase expired. Though I contacted the manufacturer and they haven't responded yet. AMAZON, you better step up before my warranty expires.. 😔😔

Does not last.
Bought this last year, and it is now just out of it's one year warranty. Which is a shame, because for the last few months, it has not been holding charge for longer than a few seconds - which means having to hover my finger over the on button in order to keep turning it back on. It also has a habit of turning itself completely off very suddenly, which on one occasion happened to coincide with a particularly dark, unlit stretch of downhill road - I nearly rode into the kerb at speed but managed to break in time. This light works for a period of time, but then becomes positively dangerous, and for that reason, I would not recommend.

Awesome
I have more than one set of these and they are brilliant not only in terms of the output of light but also the fact they are rechargeable by USB and that you have a choice of light strength to choose from including flashing. I love the little blue light on top and the fact that it tells you when you're running out of charge. I generally cycle for about an hour at a time and it more than copes with that.

Brilliant
I don't usually write reviews but I thought this was important. I have been really pleased with this bike light. The front light is incredibly bright and has allowed me to cycle with confidence on unlit cycle paths. I usually dip it when other bikes are approaching as it is blinding to them. The battery lasts well - I have to charge it after every 3 - 4 hours of constant usage on the brightest setting. The back light was a real bonus and I really like it. The only problem I have had is that the rubber bung on the front light, that protects the usb port, is fairly flimsy and after 1 year of use it went missing. However, I contacted the seller to see if I could buy a replacement bung and they kindly sent me a new one. I have been very impressed. Well worth the money

Very bright. Poor lifespan.
Very bright, even on the lowest setting. Good beam width too. Battery life isn't great, but it has a low battery warning light (30mins remaining) so you're rarely caught without light. The rear light is also fairly bright.BUT I've had it just over 2 years and the front light is now very very dim - can't use it to see by, and barely any good to be seen by.Either the battery is failing or the LED is decaying. I'll have charged it a maximum of 100 times over 2 years (once a week at most), and used it for fewer than 500 hours so either way that's a poor lifetime for a modern battery or LED.Won't be getting an exact replacement.

Shark cycle torch review
I purchased this item in March 2017, but delayed writing a review because I don't think you can give an honest assessment until you have had a product for some time.First, the good points. The constant beams are more than adequate for cycling in total darkness, even on the dimmest beam. The rubber strap supplied to strap the unit to the handlebars is a bit of a faff, but you soon develop your own method of attaching it to the bike. And now, unfortunately, the bad points. It doesn't take long for the small rubber covering shielding the charge point to come loose and then eventually come away altogether. Then the unit is susceptible to water entering it and then once that happens, it's lights out.The worst thing though is that not long after a year of owning it, it developed a mind all of it's own and displayed total disobedience. The first thing to happen was that the light would just randomly turn itself off, without warning, and with plenty of charge left. This is annoying when it was in strobe mode during daylight, because you couldn't tell it had turned off unless you looked down and saw that the "on" light was not showing. Then you had to go through all the phases of pressing the button repeatedly until it came on - not advisable whilst riding. However when it switched itself off when you were riding in pitch darkness, with no street lighting, whilst on full beam, this was downright dangerous and terrifying, requiring an emergency stop. Then it got worse. When I tried to turn it on, the beam did not correspond to the number of times you had to press the on switch, so it was a matter of guesswork of repeatedly pressing it until you got the right beam. Then, worst of all, when you tried to switch it on, it would flash 3 times, and then turn itself off. Regardless of the amount of times you pressed the button. When it had nearly a full charge. It was a matter of luck when it came on again. And it still keeps switching itself off, with plenty of charge left. After a while the unit rattled whilst on the bike and something has clearly come loose inside. It sounds as if the main insides have come adrift from the casing. No doubt that might have something to do with the total disobedience as the circuitry now has a mind all of its own.And so, after little over a year, I can use it as an occasional torch for short term use (at least until it randomly turns itself off again), but is totally unsafe for cycling. I suppose with the state of the British roads, which more resemble the surface of the moon than a public highway, it was inevitable that it would eventually succumb. A year is more than some units I have purchased, notably those of Chinese make, some of which have failed straight out of the box before even attaching it to a bike. But I need one which is dependable and long lasting, and this doesn't fit the bill either.

Outstanding customer service
The customer service provided when purchasing this item has been outstanding. Initially the torch I was sent did not charge properly. When I contacted the company they immediately apologised as they knew a faulty batch had been distributed but could not track them. To compensate they gave me a full refund and then immediately sent out a brand new set free of charge. I then used the product very happily for several months. Unfortunately the rubber seal that protects the USB connector at the back of then torch came away which meant water got in and stopped the torch from working. I then contacted the company who, once again, immediately apologised and sent a brand new set. When purchasing and using electrical items, it is understandable that at times things go wrong. Why I will now always use this company and their lights is because I can be guaranteed full immediate support if there are problems. A friend of mine first introduced me to these lights as he has been using the torches for a couple of years with no problems so the problems I have experienced are certainly not the norm with this company.

SO DISAPPOINTING - HAVE NOT PROVIDED A REPLACEMENT
So disappointed with this light. It worked amazingly well for the first winter I had it, however I have now tried to use it again for second winter (just within the first year of having the item) and it doesn't charge - the blue light stays on permanently but no light comes out of the torch any more. Despite contacting the company, they have not sent me a new one as they promise in their guarantee!

Satisfactory.
Shark 500: I like how it lights the way a lot. But when it's total dark, the blue "on" indicator on the front light kinda disturbs my eye, I think it's a bit too bright for when it's dark. Also, I pulled the USB charging slot seal on the back too hard I guess, now the hinge part is out of it's slot, hopefully I will be able to put it back in there.Tail bolt:The strap for the back one is not as convenient as the front one, but it's alright.Seeing as how much the price for bike torches vary, I think this one has high value for money.

Great front light, mediocre rear light
Front torch is great, very bright and illuminates the path/road in front of you well and makes sure you’re seen... the rear light has a little more to be desired, it’s small and not the brightest, have nearly been struck by a car from behind with this rear light so don’t rely on it alone to be seenThe front light has a good feature where it flickers and lets you know when it’s running low on battery, very useful then just diminishing in power of brightness

Great Product and Excellent Customer Service
Bought this on the strength of the one a friend has. When receiving it however mine refused to power on towards the end of my first time out with it. Even worse, at the time there was some sort of issue with Amazon with regards to contacting the seller or getting a replacement on this particular item. It may have been because I bought a pack of razer blades at the same, I honestly couldn't say. What I can tell you is that once I actually made contact with the company, they were excellent and a replacement was despatched straight away. We all get duff kit from time to time including stuff from supposed premium brands. For me therefore, customer service is everything in these situations and these guys didn't disappoint. Oh, and the light is fantastic too. I have a couple of Lezyn 400’s and whilst good and compact they only tend to run for about 40 mins at full brightness which isn’t much help on the dark lanes of Lincolnshire during the winter. This thing has a superb battery and awesome levels of light. Give it a whirl, I doubt you’ll find anything better for this sort of money.

... honestly say that I think the light has an excellent build quality
I purchased the Shark 500 in Jan 2017 and can honestly say that I think the light has an excellent build quality. The light has 4 settings, 3 levels that control the level of brightness and the fourth being a flashing mode. On the brightest setting, the light is amazingly bright and even on the lowest setting, seeing the reflection in windows you can see that it gives car drivers good visibility that a cyclist is approaching. The small rear light included with the Shark 500 is equally good and I personally use this attached to my cycle helmet. I did have to use CycleTorch after sales support after a battery issue arose and can say that they provided an excellent quality of service and were able to provide a solution to the problem. I certainly have no hesitation in recommending both the product and the company

Shark 500 USB Rechargeable Bike Torch
The Shark 500 USB Rechargeable Bike Torch Is Brilliant, I Wished I Had Something Like This Around 20 years Ago, Used To Scare Myself When Riding A Bike Going Out Of Town On The Road To Work In The Early Hours With No Street Lighting. If You Wanted To You Can Use It As A Normal Torch To Look in The Garage/Shed/Garden Etc As It Is Very Bright. This Bike Torch Is Worth The Money.

Powerful light at a bargain price!
This is a cracking light. Easily powerful enough to light up an unlit road at night even on the lower settings. Battery life is as quoted, and might be the only negative point if you need something for longer rides, but the USB charging makes it easy to top up. Haven't used it in the rain so can't comment on water resistance. Overall at the price you probably won't find better and with a bonus tail light you can't go wrong!Follow up: After a year of use, I stick by my original review and would add that I’ve since used it in snow & rain and it’s never missed a beat.

Great design but doesn't hold charge after 3 months use.
Bought 3 months ago, great design, super handy - but after approx 3/4 days usage per day for the last couple of months (around 15mins per day) it's now only holding charge for around 30mins of light, which is pretty dismal given it needs charging all the time. Amazon processing a return and will purchase another one in the hope it's a faulty one off.
