OPTIMUM NUTRITION Gold Standard Pre-Workout with Creatine, Beta-Alanine, and Caffeine for Energy, Flavor: Fruit Punch, 30 Servings

I’ve tried a lot of pre-workouts over the years, and this one from Optimum Nutrition has quickly become one of my favorites. The energy it provides is very clean and consistent—no jitters or sudden crash halfway through the workout. Within about 15–20 minutes I can definitely feel the boost in focus and motivation, which makes a noticeable difference when lifting or doing longer training sessions. The Fruit Punch flavor is actually pretty good compared to most pre-workouts, which can be overly sweet or artificial. It mixes easily with water and doesn’t leave clumps at the bottom of the shaker. I also like that it includes creatine and beta-alanine in the formula, so it covers multiple things I normally supplement separately. First, I'm not a body builder or obsessed with the Gym. But in May of this year I started a special diet (Alkaline Diet) to lose weight and become more healthy overall. I was 205 lbs when I started the diet and as of today, Oct. 7th, I'm 167 lbs. I'm 42 and about 5' 9" tall. Now I did a lot of research on the Alkaline Diet and what Supplements to consume and of course what to eat and what not to eat. For breakfast a Whey Protein Powder was highly suggested with Soy Milk. So after researching Whey Protein Powders I found that Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein was the best one. BTW, the double rich chocolate with the Soy Milk tastes great. My first order of the Whey Protein powder included a free sample of the Pre-Workout fruit punch powder. I put the sample aside because at the time I was just dieting and not working out. I wasn't even a member of a Gym yet. After about 3 months of my diet I was close to my goal weight and began taking walks to lose those stubborn few extra pounds and be in even better physical shape. Once I could see and feel the results of my dieting and walking almost every day I decided to go even further and joined the Edge Fitness Gym around the beginning of September. After going to the Gym a few weeks about 3 times a week I remembered I had the sample of the Pre-Workout mix. So I followed the directions to mix it with 8 oz of water a half hour before going to the Gym. I started with cardio as I always do but within 15 minutes of being on that treadmill I felt like pushing myself further than I had in my first few weeks of being at the Gym. Point is that instead of 30 minutes of cardio I did almost an hour and ran/jogged through most of it and was drenched by the time I was done. Not once before I had this Pre-Workout mix did I ever have that kind of motivation and energy. After the cardio I did an hour of weights (upper and lower body) and was there just over 2 hours. Before the pre-workout mix my Gym sessions were no where near what I did that day. I track everything since I began walking in August on my iPhone and using a Fitbit Charge HR so I know what I've accomplished in a given day and that day was great. So I obviously knew this made the difference that day. So I read a lot of the reviews here on Amazon about this powder and ordered it. Since then my workouts are longer and I always find myself pushing even harder at the Gym. Now as others have pointed out some of the ingredients are not considered to be the best "all natural" ones but with me still following the strict Alkaline Diet those few ingredients the days I go to the Gym are not going to negativity effect me. The added boost this powder mix gives me every time I use it is so noticeable that only if I don't want to end up being at the Gym for 2 hours would I not take it. The fruit punch flavor tastes fine and like others have mentioned it does not FULLY dissolve no matter how well you stir it, but boy does it do the job. The price is great and it works for me. I will continue to use it unless I notice anything negative, but I can honestly say I doubt that will happen.

I work in an office from 9 to 6, so most days when I get out of work and head to the gym, I'm already a bit tired. I do a lot of high volume lifting (bodybuilding stuff), and it really takes a lot out of you. Over the past few months I've been trying a few different pre-workout formulas to get a feel for what I like. I'll try to keep this as unbiased as possible. Flavoring: 10/10 The fruit punch flavor I tried tastes really good. It's a bit sweet, very flavorful, and reminiscent of my childhood where I could drink Kool-Aid all day long =) Energy: 6/10 There isn't a lot of caffeine per serving in here compared to a lot of other (stronger) pre-workouts. I'm not very sensitive to caffeine, so anything under 250mg doesn't really 'do it'. This doesn't give me as much caffeine as a lot of other pre-workouts, but it does make me less jittery. Lifting sessions after taking this stuff are usually pretty calm, focused, and strong. I have yet to 'crash' after drinking this. Cost: 7/10 If you compare the cost of this pre-workout to a lot of the other options out there, it's relatively inexpensive. ON is a great brand, very trusted, and generally makes affordable supplements that are generally accessible. No complaints here. Quality / Trust: 10/10 One of the other reasons I really like this pre-workout is that I trust ON as a brand. They've been the most consistent, high quality supplement provider in the fitness industry for a while now, and are always consistent with their products. Overall: 8/10 Overall, I'm giving this an 8/10. It's a good product, not too much caffeine, good flavoring, no sugar, almost no extra calories. It's a good price, and you can trust ON to give you quality ingredients. Also: if you're looking for something more hardcore, and want a HUGE burst of energy, you can't go wrong with Cannibal FEROX (Watermelon Warmachine) . It's a LOT stronger, has way more caffeine, makes you pretty jittery, and is more expensive.

I still don't understand why they haven't eliminated the artificial colors in all their products. The blueberry lemonade and the fruit punch have artificial coloring. Blueberry is still great and honestly doesnt impact me negatively. Because their Watermelon Candy was naturally colored with beets I had assumed the fruit punch was naturally colored as well-was my fault. However, when I added water to the fruit punch the red was obviously RED DYE 40. They add a SIGNIFICANT amount of dye. I thought about tossing it but drank it because I already paid for it...didnt want to waste. The next day I woke up and would barely walk like normal. swollen fingers, horrible brain fog. Very strange feeling I had never felt before and realized later the only thing out of my routine was drinking the fruit punch the night before. I had to toss the fruit punch out. Please be aware of how much artifical dye used in some of their products.

I am 16, I began lifting on this pre workout. For the past several years, I've tried to get into weight lifting, but I've never found the motivation. This is my honest review of the product, I bought it myself and it took me about two months to finish it. When I took this, since I don't really drink caffeinated drinks that much, it gave me an unreal boost of energy for the first few days and I was super jittery in the workouts. It has 175mg caffeine, or the amount in 2-4 cups of coffee. It faded pretty quickly as I built up a slight immunity to it, and still worked great as an energy booster for the next month of taking it everyday. After that, I started to cycle one day on/one day off so its effects heightened when I took it. Now, I'm sad it's gone, but it doesn't really have a huge effect on me anymore, besides the placebo of an energy boost. I've built exercise into my daily routine and don't struggle with motivation anymore, so I probably won't buy anymore pre workout and find the energy in myself somehow. It's perfect for you IF: you don't have a high caffeine tolerance, and you are new to working out. In this scenario, it will have the best effects on you. It's not a crazy amount where you will get a heart attack unless you have a very small body and a very low caffeine tolerance, then I'd be wary. I'm 6'1 180lbs, and I was fine. It will give you all the energy you need and make you happy and willing to go to the gym. Just take that first step, taking that preworkout- then everything else follows suit. It seemed like a lot of money at first, only for 30 servings, but it lasted me way longer than I thought and I can see a major gap between myself and my friends who didn't use any pre workout. I am pretty strong naturally, but still, never having worked out lower body before, I am now at 185 bench, 240 squat, and 385 deadlift 2 months into working out. I've come a lot further than them in these past 2 months, and I attribute an amount of that to my boost in energy because of this product. Don't buy this IF: You drink a lot of caffeinated drinks, and have a high caffeine tolerance. It's basically just a ton of caffeine, so if you've taken other pre workouts before or drink coffee a lot it probably won't have a huge effect on you. If you really want to use some pre workout, don't drink caffeine for a month to loose your immunity to it then buy this. I have to say it again... if you struggle with motivation and energy AT ALL, like I did, this pre workout is a MUST. It will change your entire outlook on exercise. Good luck out there!
