I have always loved the sound of these speakers and now having a pair of my own they’re amazing! If you want a clear sounding speaker this is one I recommend.

Amazing outdoor sound!
I Love love love these! I purchased 2 for my backyard and mounted under the eves of my house over the back porch, the sound from these speakers is the absolute best combination of clarity, output, bandwidth and price available, period. Jbl has really perfected this sector of the market in my opinion, if you compare one of these speakers to, say, a pair of bose 251 speakers, their is no comparison, jbl has a much better product. Of corse this is my opinion. I also find that the output and bass response is far better than the offerings that the other "consumer" speakers offer, but klipsch does definitely have a "higher quality" sound (the expensive outdoor klipsch speakers) the jbl is loud, clear and full, which I believe is what you should expect for outdoor speakers. I intended to use the matching subwoofer with these speakers as I did not expect too much bass from these, I was very wrong. While these may not be ideal if you listen to rap, electronic or any other heavy synth bass music, the bass response from these speakers is super clean, punchy and quite deep (my ear tells me it's useful down the the 40s, but could be wrong) and very musical. If you need a lot of bass (and don't have neighbors nearby) you might want to look at the control 30 or think about adding a control sb210Another thing worth mentioning is the really cool built in protection circuits, that you WONT find in comsumer grade speakers, these incorporate actual light bulbs that "burn off" or resist excess current if you turn the volume up too loud, while not really affecting the sound too much (you have to be pumping pretty loud at this point) which gives me great peace of mind when the rowdy friends are monkeying with my music...Another final point I believe is worth mentioning is the repair-ability, these speakers are easy to take apart and service. If you happen to blow out a woofer or tweeter, or just want to replace the grill, you can buy just the component online and replace it, instead of having to replace the entire speaker as you would with most consumer speakers.Oh yeah, they work in the rain too! :)

These speakers are used at Six Flags (GA) and sound awesome!
These speakers are all over the place at Six Flags over Georgia. Some of them are turned up very loud and sound amazing. If I didn't love them so much, I might be a bit frustrated - sometimes my family and I can't hear each other when near one.JBL always seems to have some of the best sounding stuff available. This is another example.

Pricey, but worth the cost
Before you purchase this speaker, you need to realize it's intended application. Unless you've seen this speaker in action, and prefer the sound, you'll probably be able to get "better sounding" consumer speakers for the same price. However, you won't find one that's as robust as this. These are used in many theme parks and commercial applications throughout the world. The Control 29 is probably the brainchild of JBL Pro's extended speaker lineup from the original Control Contractor line, which originally only included the Control 23, 25, and 28. Along with the SB-210 and the Control 30, these are designed differently from the original line. Unlike it's bigger and smaller siblings, this speaker has underwent two revisions (29AV and 29AV-1). Though it uses an 8" driver, the same size found in the Control 28, the frequency range and overall output is much higher than you'll expect. It also has more suspension options, which include points throughout the speaker, though the Invisiball mount is still included. It also included a more durable grille design than the Control 23, 25, and 28. Accessories are also included with this "premium" speaker, such as a weather resistant cover for the terminals that normally cost around $30 with the small Control speakers. Overall, if you're looking for a weather resistant speaker that's capable of high output, I suggest you take a good look at this speaker. If you need more power, consider looking at the Control 30. If you're looking for less, but still want a good sound, look at the Control 28.

great sound tough case.
These sound great clear highs, perfect mid tones, and matching bass. Overall its a pretty balanced speaker. And all the great sound is housed in a hardshell case. That wont crack or chip. And a thick metal screen over the front protects the speakers from damage. These have the sound quality to be in a recording studio. And the durability to take anything a gig can throw at them.
