The Dogs of Christmas

A Delicious Read
I have so many Books it borders ridiculous. I bought this some time back and got done with it awhile back. This was a Really Good Book, though a bit into the middle of the Story I wanted to rip it in half and sail it across the room, (now you got to understand, "I Love Books" and dont like to see them damaged) it was very emotional at that point and I was really angry with Mr. Cameron with the way the Story line was turning out, so I put the book up, fuming. But it turned out alright. This Story is very emotional at times but was well worth every bit of the cost which is very reasonable. For the couple comments I seen of Ppl putting this Book down they should be ashamed of themselves as was a Beautiful Story of Endurance and Love. I do understand not all Ppl like the same kind of Book's that other's do so you just need to make that choice yourself. Myself, I cant gush enough about Mr. Cameron's Book, in fact I just finished a different Book and since I had this Book of Cameron's still laying out I reread the last chapter, but wasn't quite what you would call a chapter, you'll see if you read it. I keep Book's that I've read if I really liked them and reread them. I have a pretty good Library, as I call it and this book will go into the Animal section and I will read it again someday. This is a Wonderful Story of a Young Man who at first is alarmed by his situation but gives the Dog's the most Loving Care. Like alot of Ppl comment on Animal Story's, If You Love Dog's don't pass this Book up. If I could I would give it a 10 Star Rating.

the author is great, and the story made me laugh and cry. I have read several of his other dog books and plan to read them all.

... and Noble and knew automatically I was going to love it. The cover had me hooked
I found this book while browsing Barnes and Noble and knew automatically I was going to love it. The cover had me hooked. The minute I bought it I could not put it down. This is a heartwarming tale of love, family, and of course puppies. After Josh Michaels loses his Ex to another man and lays around depressed, he gets a call from a "friend" who wants to drop his dog off. Though reluctant, Josh accepts the dog and begins to worry about her pregnancy. During a conference call, his new dog, Lucy, goes into labor and he rushes her off to the vet, worried about her and her puppies. After the visit to the vet and receiving a litter of 5 puppies, Josh begins to rebuild his life, now revolving around the 6 dogs he has. After a call to the local animal shelter, he meets, and falls in love with Kerri, the woman who runs the animal shelter. She is eager to give these new puppies a forever home and bring joy to other families. But as time gets closer for Josh to give up the puppies, he thinks of his own family and is struck with the feeling of not being able to give up his new dogs.I particularly love the sentiment in this book. While at first Josh was reluctant to foster Lucy and then the puppies when she gave birth, after spending some time with them, he grew to love them and though he lost his own family, he gained a whole new canine one. Though Josh is a bit of a recluse and hard to like, I love his connection to the dogs and how he feels he can't send them off to other families. Though it felt like most of this book revolved around his pursuit of Kerri, it lent itself to the story because it gave Josh an inner conflict: does he choose to push her away and keep the dogs, or win her heart and do as she wants? That small romantic twist added suspense to the book because while Josh wanted to be with her, he wanted to have his dogs, which made him whole again. There are a host of small themes throughout the book, which I love how each of them interconnect. I will definitely recommend this book to all dog lovers, puppy lovers, holiday enthusiasts, and any one who just loves a good heartwarming book.

Wow!
Cold, snowy day, bought this book on a whim AND cannot believe how much I enjoyed it. I like most books about dogs so that part would be no surprise but everything about this book was so good. Truthfully? The best to me was how the author writes a good story but he, most importantly, tells why and how humans and dogs are made for each other perfectly. The dependence upon each other, the look of love in both the people's eyes as well as the dog's eyes. He reaches in and grabs your heart as you root for the couple to get together but also for the dogs to feel that love, that bond. Although this book was about dogs, any animal and human can share that bond, that love. Glad also no huge sadness of abuse and neglect. Also glad to read rescues and the underground dog railroad were included to educate readers on the plight of homeless or abandoned animals. Now on to one of Mr. Cameron's other books!

Great read
I have to say I’ve read many books about dogs but the way this was written in the feeling that was put into it touched my heart more than any of the other books I have read. I will certainly look into the other books by this author.

The Perfect Christmas and Anytime Gift for Animal Lovers
Bruce Cameron speaks the heart and soul of the dog. How can the same author who writes such exquisitely funny humor as “8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter” (and more) compose the eloquent prose in the “The Dogs of Christmas?”Bruce is a master storyteller who draws the reader in from the start. You’ll feel like you’re sitting with the puppies, feeling their squirmy little bodies, watching their eyes open for the first time. There’s love, suspense, a message. “The Lesson of the Dog” is, alone, worth reading the book for. This is the story of love and redemption that plays out every time a dog rescues a human and vice versa. It (and all of Bruce’s New York Times best-sellers) is the perfect special occasion gift for those who love animals or need more love in their lives. And Bruce is a huge animal welfare supporter, so you’re doing the cause good every time you buy his books!

A Wonderful, Touching Story
This story is a beautiful tale of love and redemption and of a man's awakening, guided by his love for his dogs and the deep lessons to be learned from these most forgiving and generous creatures. Funny, loving and insightful. One of the best books I've read in ages.

W. Bruce Cameron has once again delivered
I love this book! Dog lovers will love it, but so will the romantics at heart. Even if like me, you are into crime thrillers, this book is a refreshing change. A doggy/human relationship, well, there's really nothing better. Mr Cameron has a dog's heart and I really don't mean that to be a derogatory opinion! :-)
