It is perfectly fine!
The case is excellent for someone who knows not to outright abuse their phone. No, it is not made of military-grade impact-resistant plastic, but it is strong enough to keep the phone undamaged if I drop it on accident. No, the front is not hinged, but it doesn't need to be. People are complaining about it not sitting flat after their fold (and crease) the rubber flap to the back of the phone so they can text. I find it easy to hold the case open with my pinkies and type with both thumbs (and I type rather quickly in this method). In fact, the position is natural and keeps the phone itself secure. No, the front doesn't sit flat if you put a cover on it. But why the hell would you put another cover on it? Phone covers aren't supposed to keep it clean from fingerprints, but to prevent scratches. Unless you have steel tips on your fingernails, you aren't likely to scratch the screen when using it. If you drop it, the flap closes quickly to protect the front. And in your pocket, the rubber flap in the front protect the screen perfectly. It DOEs open up now possibilities for your phone. You can swipe from the top down and it will open voice commands. If you tap it twice, you get weather and message alerts, with time. You can answer the phone while never opening it, and keep it closed while talking to anyone, which actually keeps the screen cleaner and keeps the battery going longer. The phone was, literally, *made* for this phone case. The case is also easy to put on and remove, so if you insist on having it off, you won't have any difficulties. The only downsides to the case are minor. 1) It might get dirty. So, to clean out the dot matrix, you simply use an electronics air can or blow on it. Wow. 2) It is conceivable that you might reach into your pocket and swipe open the voice command function, thus allowing you to butt-dial people. But it does ask you to confirm the choice, so the chances of you actually butt-dialing people are very low. So, in short, people who don't like this case are either just looking to complain or have some sort of mental or motor-function injury.

Good quality cover with cool features. Not a case though.
Pros: -Fits the phone perfectly. -It is very thin so it does not add much to the thickness of the phone. -It is very good quality with a rubberized feel. The M8 phone s very slick and slippery so it's nice that this makes it more "grippy" -The back side looks very nice, even though it covers the nice metal enclosure of the M8. -The Dot View functionality is cool and fun. Easily configurable with the HTC Dot View app. -You can fold the front cover over and it props the phone up at an angle when viewing videos -You can interact with the phone screen without opening the cover with up/down gestures. -The price from this seller was great <$20. $50 elsewhere is ridiculous. Don't pay that! Cons: -Dot View is hard to see outdoors or in full sunlight. -Will not protect the phone well if dropped (it is more of a "cover", not a "case" -The front cover can't be completely "folded over" the back. -The front cover is "spring-loaded" (though it has no physical spring) and wants to constantly close itself, making it hard for one-handed operation. You need two hands to take a photo.

Good not great. Cause it always seems to break.
This would be the 3rd case I've gotten that has broken even without me dropping my phone so I figure it's probably time to give it an honest review. The corners snapped off once when putting the phone into the case. Another instance was when I was putting it into my back pocket. Other than that the case is alright. It gives the phone a bit more texture allowing for better grip. And as most HTC owners already know. The phone itself can take punishment so the case offers lightweight and functional guard against minor dings and scratches. To some degree water resistance. Despite the repeated annoyances of case snappage I really do like the dot view. It offers some functional ideas that have made it easier to use the phone. And it seems like Dot View is being actively developed. Time will tell. I wouldn't ever pay MSRP for this case but is fun to use and does it's job for as long as it can...

so you will chip or crack your screen easily on rough surfaces
A neat product but it does not offer much protection for your phone. The side of your phone with the volume buttons has no real protection if your phone lands face down, so you will chip or crack your screen easily on rough surfaces. Luckily, I have not had that happen. However, my phone fell from my lap onto hard office carpet (approximately 2 feet) and the corner of the case snapped off. These really aren't meant for any sort of phone protection other than scratches on the screen from being in your pocket. Other cons? It makes the camera nearly impossible to use with a single hand. The rubber picks up lint and smells from your hands. (smokers and cooks beware) HTC customer service is lacking. I inquired whether to if it had a manufacturers warranty or not and they told me to contact Amazon. Overall it's a neat case to look at and some of the functions are pretty sweet, but it is NOT to protect your phone and screen. Too many exposed edges and very brittle plastic. This case lasted approximately 2 months and I was not even close to abusive. The biggest plus is I didn't spend the $50 on it at the Sprint Store.

This GREY case is the perfect fit for me. PROTECTION LEVEL: Scratches
This case has had some mixed reviews, and you will love it or hate it depending on what you're looking for. First things first: The picture of the black case is a little misleading. The case is definitely grey (the same grey that all the other retailers picture.) HTC does not offer black or dark grey. I would say that this grey compliments the gunmetal grey of the phone. Now, you will like this case if: You know how to hang on to your phone and are just looking for something to protect it from scratches. You don't like screen protectors. You sometimes like to use your phone with a case, and sometimes without. I am that type of person, and that's why I love this case. I've always hated screen protectors, and they won't work with this case (the cover won't close enough). This case provides minimal protection against drops, but that doesn't bother me because I can hold onto a phone and I'm always conscious of what surface is under me when I'm using it. The case is easy enough to put on and take off, so when I want to show my beautiful m8 off, I can take it out. TEXTURE: The back is about as slick as the phone itself, however, the front is very grippy, and I always set my phone face down so this keeps it from sliding around on the table or your lap. It can make it a little difficult getting it out of your pocket, however. But only slightly. COVER: No, it's not the ipad cover with a magnet that holds it in place. It springs shut, and upon first getting it, the cover didn't seem to close all the way, but it gets a little more pliable within a couple of days, and I haven't seen much of a problem with it closing. It can be a little awkward trying to use one-handed with the cover folded over the back, and it will spring shut if not held in place. I find holding it book-style is the most comfortable. For prolonged use, I just take the case off completely. You can take pictures with the cover on, but again, if you are going to take many at once, I would take the cover off. One thing I like about it is that while it doesn't operate as a kickstand, you can lean the phone against an object on the table by sliding the cover under something solid and that keeps the phone from sliding down and gives you a comfortable viewing angle. DOT VIEW: This is mostly a gimmick, but one that I love. You can read other reviews on it and watch the HTC video, but my favorite part is that when someone is calling, you don't need to swipe, you just hold it up to your ear and it automatically answers. In my opinion, there are no perfect cases, but if you want something that compliments the phone and doesn't turn it into a brick, has some nice features and you can overcome a little one-handed awkwardness, this is a great choice, especially for $25. I would have said no for $50.

Almost perfect.
Amazing case, one of the reasons I chose the One m8 over the LG G3 or the nexus 5. It really completes the phone, if this case gets cracked or ruined you bet your sweet ass I'm getting another. the one flaw i can see is that if you do put a screen protector, it will not shut all the way. I am surprised HTC expected people to NOT put a screen protector on a $700 phone. If theres anything else I could complain about its that I wish the back had the same texture as the front. The back is hard plastic with a subtle texture, and the front cover is a rubbery flexible... rubber. it feels nice. The back is boring. They could have put a layer of the rubber over the back, it probably would have helped impacts as well. I have to give this 5 stars simply because it's actually useful vs. just protecting the phone. The swipe to call works well. I rarely need to open it at work which saves battery immensely. Also - the "Warm Black" case is nowhere near black. I've been a graphic designer for 8 years and it's a joke to call this warm black. It's just dark gray. Which I knew and wanted, but if you're looking for black this is the wrong place. compared to rgb on screen, its R51,G40,B40.

Bit of a novelty
There's no doubt that this cool compliment to an amazing phone, but there are some glaring flaws that make it a must have for m8 users. The biggest knock is what do you do with it when its open and you actually want to use your phone? It's hard to hold and operate with one hand with the case open. The other knock is protection. I'm gonna keep it on till i get something more substantial since i have a toddler that loves to play with smartphones. The advertised features like checking things through the case work great most of the time, but after you've impressed all your friends, there's little incentive to leave it on. The one thing i don't get is why can't you skip tracks when play music though htc's music app? Looks cool on paper, but not as great when you get your hands on it.

Great quality, Perfect fit, Sleek design.
There's a lot of people giving bad reviews to this case because they did not receive the color they were expecting, that's dumb, disregard those reviews. Pros: - Perfect fit, not bulky at all. - Great quality. - Sleek design. Cons: - Typing is a bit uncomfortable / awkward (you get used to it, not a big deal). - You cannot longer use your phone with one hand, you need your left hand to hold the flap (not a big deal for me either). - Notifications are limited to the htc apps, unless you root the phone and modify/replace the dot matrix app. - The case is not extremely protective, right part of the phone is always exposed (If you do not take good care of the phone like I do, stay away from this case and buy an Otterbox or similar) Note: All the Cons to me are not significant compared to how nice the phone looks with the original accessory and the dot notifications.
