Not perfect, but better than I'd anticipated
Based on other reviews, my expectations for this were fairly low. I thought there was a good chance it wouldn't perform as claimed, or that it would be an enormous hassle to use. So, I was pleasantly surprised to find that, actually, it's really quite good. No, it doesn't get right into the corners of the windows. Yes, it's a bit fiddly to set up. And yes, it will fall off the window now and then, particularly while you're figuring out how to set it up properly, or if you try and move it too fast. But, it's the only gadget I've found that's been able to satisfactorily clean our high sash windows. And so, overall, I'm happy. Finally, yes, it is expensive. But last time I got a professional window cleaner in, they charged £50 for our flat, but the long pole they use to access the windows wasn't adequate to clear off the several years of grime that had accumulated. So, compared to that, I suppose the cost isn't quite so exorbitant.

It works, but can be a bit of workout!
So bough this to use on upstair Velux windows which are at angle. Have tried other methods before, but the D4 has definitely been the only product that has helped clean the outside of the window at the same time, which I would normally never be able to effectively reach and clean properly. For the gliding to be easy you do need to put liquid on both sides of the window, sometimes this isn't ideal if the window is on top of you/ on the roof, but to get around dripping cleaner on me, I used the the microfibre cloth on the inside and cleaner on the outside. The magnets are very strong, so need to use them with care, they can separated if they come together (support were very helpful) , the magnets can also end up magnetising other metals near by, so need to watch out for that. One of the dials was faulty on mine after a single use, but again Customer Support have been great with prompt responses and will be sending a me a replacement. I do think it is a tad expensive, but it does get the job done!

Ouch…… but good
Not a bad product…. Trixy getting into corners though…. And BEWARE…… the magnets are that strong they will cause a nasty injury if you catch your fingers between the cleaning paddles…,!!!!! As I have found out to my peril…. Bit pricey but overall…..worth getting…..

DO NOT PURCHASE IF USE IS FOR TRIPLE GLAZED
I purchased this after reading mixed reviews but thought it would work IT DOESN’T for triple glazed windows. It clearly says in description that this is suitable for triple glazed. I have triple glazed sliding doors upstairs and thought this would be the answer. It barely holds. It’s perfect for single or maybe even double but DO NOT PURCHASE if your intention is to use with triple. Total waste of money and wish I never bothered. If anyone knows of any other products/solutions that will work let me know otherwise a useless product for triple

Really pleased I took the plunge and bought this
I spent a long time wondering whether to buy this or not. I read a lot of reviews and it was the clearly excellent customer service offered by Tyroler that made me decide to take the plunge. I could see that if I was not happy, they would do what they could to help. My windows are double glazed with an estimated 28mm width. From the reviews I decided not to risk the D3, but to pay the extra for D4 because I could see that it was adjustable and if I had overestimated the width, it would still work. I carefully followed all the instructions as I could see that some of the reviewers' problems were caused by not doing so. Spraying the cleaner on the window was an interesting initial challenge, but luckily I like to clamber, am fairly flexible and don't mind half hanging out of a window. I went slow but sure to start with. I didn't do the S-shape, I moved the magnets vertically down, it leaves an initial smear, but that comes off with the second wipe with the cloths. I fairly quickly adjusted the magnets until I was confident I was able to move them without them becoming detached. I really like the flexibility. Don't do what I did once and put the magnet without the string on the outside of the window! That is silly. Do check the string especially the knot as it arrived with a weak granny knot. After my first clean, the results are not perfect, but they are definitely good enough for me and I am delighted. I am so enjoying looking through my clean, shiny windows. I'm sure I could improved on the efectiveness too if I cared enough. The cloths with velcro on would have benefitted from better stiching and velcro on the sides too perhaps as they rucked up. I would have liked to support the window cleaner, but he just used a brush on a pole and water and the results were worse than what I have now. But hey! Not having my 6 windows cleaned for 9 months, I saved £90 which was enough to buy the Tyroler D4 (green knobs)

Effective but use with great care.
Very useful and well designed. Relatively easy to use if you go slowly and follow the instructions. My windows have small glass panels so the overall cleaning process was is a bit fiddly (I’m sure it would be easier with larger windows), but I still think that the tool is useful. It’s not perfect at the corners but the overall result is satisfying. The cloths it comes with (one pair) are not very good quality, one of the Velcro patches got torn after few uses, nothing that a little sewing won’t fix but not a good sign. Ah and you need at list two pair of clothes, one to use with detergent, the other with clean water. Also, I recommend the 4D version as it allows for more flexibility with glass thickness, mine are double glazed (I’m not sure about their actual thickness) and I’ve had to use almost the highest setting. Had I bought the 3D version (also recommended for double glazed windows) I’m not sure it would have worked. The safety string is a simple but very efficient. When in use, unless clamped on glass, keep the two pieces far away, as per instructions, even the slightest distraction can lead to very painful results, I’ve learnt it the painful way. Following from that keep absolutely away from children!

well made & works a treat
Brilliant, Because our back window is over a conservatory weve never been able to clean it for about 20 years. That just changed. A touch expensive but worth it.

Canadian window approved!!
I was so hesitant to buy this because at 149 plus tax that’s a steep price. I was also discouraged by the comments saying it doesn’t work for Canadian windows so I was half expecting to buy this and return it. I’m here to say this works fantastic for thick Canadian windows and I’m very impressed with the results!! I will not be returning this. A few things to consider, firstly I know there’s many warnings about the magnetic force but it’s no joke, you need to be very careful holding it, using it, removing it etc. keeping the pieces far away from each other and never letting your fingers sit on the magnetic side. Second, It’s very important to have the window soaking wet making the pieces glide smoothly. I think some people who were unsuccessful maybe had the window too dry, causing the outside piece to fall. Also note I was using it on the most powerful setting with the knobs fully dialed in. I recommend this 100% my windows look fantastic!

Product works well. Needs better instructions.
We have large 5th floor sliding windows, which are impossible to reach all the way across from the inside. Since some of the sliders overlap when they are open, it is impossible to reach all of the outside surfaces of some windows unless they are all closed, which means there is no way to clean them from the inside. This product worked great for our situation. We opened the windows just enough to thoroughly wet down the outsides, reached the outer half of the unit around to the outside of each of the windows, mated it with the inner half, and then closed the windows so that there was no overlap among the sliders. With this system, we could use the unit to squeegee the whole surface of all the windows, one at a time. Follow up with the included microfibre cloths, and the finished product is pretty good. Not quite as perfect as if you could access the whole window inside and out with a professional window cleaner, but we do not have that option. Some important tricks that we learned: 1. People have complained that the device broke or damaged their windows when the magnets pulled the two parts together on the glass. DO NOT allow the two parts to approach each other from directly opposite sides of the glass. This is how people broke their windows, and blamed it on the product. Place the outside half against the glass, then place the inside one against the glass at least 8 inches away. Then slowly slide them together along the glass until they match up; this way there is no impact against the glass. THIS SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE INSTRUCTIONS, since it would have easily prevented the broken window issues people had. 2. Learn how to do a proper S pattern to squeegee the glass. Some video reviewers had no clue how to do this during their demonstrations, even though it was mentioned in the instructions, which will result in leaving streaks. 3. Hold the inner unit by the base as you move it around the window. If you hold it by the top which is more natural, it will tend to tilt the inner unit and break the magnetic connection. Loosing the magnetic connection this way is another common cause for complaints, and should be addressed in the instructions. 4. When you are making the return curves in your S pattern at the edges of the windows, take your time to carefully follow along the edge of the frame. If you bump against the frame, it may knock one of the halves enough to break the magnetic connection. I sometimes knocked the connection loose on one set of magnets, but the other set always held until I could realign the separated set. 5. We bought the more expensive D4 model, which has the ability to adjust the strength of the magnetic connection in order to work ideally with different thickness of windows, and the number of thermopanes in the window. This makes a huge difference, and since some of our windows are single pane, and some are double pane with a large space in between, it is important for us to adjust the unit for the type of window we are cleaning. If you have different types of windows, pay attention to this. 7. We have 8 large windows. By the time we got to the last window, the microfibre cloths were starting to smear a little dirt. In the future, we would only do four windows at at time, and then wash and dry the microfiber clothes before doing more windows. Alternatively, just buy more clothes so that you can switch out during a job, as they get dirty. Along with the better instructions, I would suggest two other improvements to this great product: 1. In our case, the safety string is too short to reach all the way across our largest windows, so we had to do without it on those, and will eventually add a longer string. Luckily, so far so good. 2. The velcro patches at the ends of the microfibre cloths are not sewn on perfectly, so after only one use, it looks like the stitching might be weak. We will see.
