Backyard Entertainment That Brings the Woodpeckers Without the Messy Scatter
This Kaytee Woodpecker Seed Cake (1.85 lb) is a solid rectangular block, about the size of a small loaf of bread, dense with seeds and nuts tailored for woodpeckers and similar birds. The color is a mix of earthy browns, blacks, and cream from the embedded peanuts, sunflower, and other bitsโlooks premium and high-energy. We hung it in our Kansas backyard feeder right after it arrived in March, and within days the woodpeckers showed up consistently, along with some other visitors. It holds together well in our variable spring weather (rain hasn't turned it to mush yet), and the cake format means way less seed waste on the ground compared to loose mixes. Easy to mount in a cage feeder, lasts a couple of weeks per cake depending on bird traffic, and provides good entertainment during morning coffee. Attracts the target birds effectively, minimal mess, and the high-fat content seems to keep them coming back. Sadly in heavy rain it can soften a bit on the edges (though it didn't disintegrate), and it's specific, don't expect it to draw every songbird in the neighborhood. Compared to loose seed, this is cleaner and more targeted. After six weeks of refills, the birds are happy, and so am I. Simple, effective backyard addition.

Easy to use, and the birds love these cakes
Since the recent blizzard, I have not been able to get to my backyard feeders. Thus, to feed the birds here, I have relied on these great seed cakes in myna seed cake feeders. I have put these seed cakes, and suet cakes, out in the feeders, on the ground near the front of my house. It is the only way to have food out for the birds in the last several extremely cold weeks. The Kaytee seed cakes are easy to use and, as they disappear quickly, they must also taste good to the birds!

Multiple LOVE this one and it attracts many different ones in droves!
The year round and migration birds love this, but so do the year round squirrels. They'd eat the whole cake in a day if I didn't take it down and put it back out the next day. With the crew in our yard, one cake lasts about two and a half to three full days-only if I put it out at 7am and take down at 5pm. It's definitely one of the more popular cakes we have bought that seems to attract multiple types of birds to dining on it. It's fairly priced and goes on sale every so often so watch for the deal and double up! It has no odor, is not messy and stays together better and much longer to other cakes we tried. We have wrens, warblers, woodpeckers, blue jays, mockingbirds, painted buntings, cowbirds, cardinals, meadowlarks, and all the doves presently enjoying it so far here in "fall" of eastern FL.

Foxes love them.
Our resident fox jumps on the bird feeder to get these.

Birds Will Flock to this Seed Cake!
The ingredients are varied and colorful! Beautiful, yummy, appetizing, a nice variety of bird seeds (BIRDS, my dogs would love it but I'm not sure what their health would be afterwards. (Dog health) The effectiveness is fine ... I don't have a "holder" for it, so I strung it up and am hoping the birds will come anyway. I'll order a holder eventually. Still muttering about dog health in the "ideas" for reviewing. Blame AI.

Excellent product and of good quality
Been using these "seed cakes" for a long time. They attract the correct type of birds to our backyard. Long lasting, tough and a good price, too! Highly recommended!

Squirrels like it more than the birds do
Because this contained mealworms and safflower seeds, I was hoping that the squirrels would mainly leave it alone. Unfortunately, the squirrels were all over this soon after I put it out. The squirrels like it much more than the birds do...
