A penultimate dreadnought from the company that invented the dreadnought: this is the Martin Standard Series D-41 with a natural finish over the Sitka spruce top. The D-41 is a workhorse of an acoustic, built with beautiful pieces of East Indian rosewood for the back and sides, forward-shifted Sitka spruce scalloped bracing, Style 45 appointments, and classy abalone reduced hexagon fretboard inlays. The D-41 is a dreadnought designed to turn heads just as much as it will grab ears.

Why Not Obtain One Through Martin
Why Not Obtain One Through Martin? They have a fantastic website & even custom shop. In fact One can literally design & select what appointments they’re interested in, bindings etc. etc. & that I’m and of itself is pretty fun to see the instrument you’ll be having built. I’ve personally never had any bad experiences with Amazon but in shelling that kind of cabbage out for a new Martin in my unprofessional opinion one would be wise to just with make the journey to nazareth Pennsylvania or for us unable to make the trek go to their site and pick out a model and design it on the spot to at least see what you’re having built.. Best of luck with your musical endeavors everyoneBlessings To All

How Could You Not Love It?
I mean, it's a Martin D-41! Beautiful to look at, listen to, and play. The quality and craftsmanship one would expect from Martin. I'm over half way into my 6th decade on this planet and have played for over 4 of those decades. All those years, I've dreamed of owning a high-end Martin and this year that dream came true. I finally decided to spend the $4,500 to own a new 2018 D-41 and could not be happier. Purchased this online without playing it first, as I have with all but one of my many guitars. Some players say you MUST play the exact guitar you are going to buy before purchase or else you will be sorry. I disagree. I'm happy with each of my guitars that I purchased online.Let me add one more thing here. There are "wanna be" and imitation Martins out there for sale. One of these is the Zager so-called Easy Play guitar. A couple of years ago, I purchased their high-end ZAD900 at $1,900, just to give it a try (it is marketed as comparable to the D-41). They only sell online and if you don't like it, you can send it back for full refund and Zager pays shipping both ways. This ZAD900 was as beautiful looking as the D-41 and sounded pretty darn good (perhaps quite close to the D-41), but I found that it was not "easy" to play at all. In fact, I found the modifications they made to the neck and nut made it less comfortable to play. But that's just me. I sent it back and they kept their word, refunding all my money (tremendous customer service from Zager, by the way). While it was a "nice" guitar and was constructed of similar wood types as the D-41 (but I don't think the same quality), the fact is that they are mass produced in Indonesia (as mine was) or India, and then Zager does some minor modifications to the neck, nut, and saddle in their U.S. facility. Just did not seem like similar quality to the Martin, though, and I can't imagine it would hold value like a Martin does. There are also Martin D-41 and D-45 copies made in China and sold as Martin's, even using Martin logos. Personally, I detest such knock-off's, but I know people will buy them at their less than $500 price tag and try to pass them off as the real thing (like a fake Rolex). But I think that only a true Martin sounds like a Martin.Bottom line: the Martin D-41 is a work of art and craftsmanship, an heirloom musical instrument that I hope will stay in my family for many decades to come.

It may not be authenic, maybe a chinese. Be careful
The price is too high for a D41 Standard. I have a D41 and check prices all the time. Go to muscian's friends. Sweetwater, guitar center. I would be careful buying a guitar of this quality through amazon. Also this may not be authenic could be chinese repo. Look around and check them out. Don't get me wrong I do like amazon, i've brought a lot thru them and had very good results. But not guitars. I have been playing a few years (57 years) and i know my martins i have several of them..

I'm Not Loving It
So I just received a brand new factory fresh Martin D41 last saturday. It is a beautiful guitar. And it plays great. But there's just something about the sound I'm not crazy about. It's awesome when played extremely light, but if you get on it any at all...there's like a blaring effect to me. I may trade it up for a D35 which doesn't have the scalloped bracing which may account for what I'm hearing. It is a beautiful guitar though!

I don't, but I would.
The review stating you can build one through Martin website, well that's a custom and it's gonna cost you plenty. This is basically the HD-28 with better grade wood and just the right amount of bling. I've played one, IO don't own one. I do have a D-28 1937 AGED, and a couple others. If I had the funds, and wouldn't have to trade, it would be in my house. To the reviewers that aren't happy straight out of the box, I'd change strings first if thats within the return policy. These are awesome looks and sound in the Standard series.
