Great for Microwave/Convection Warming Too.
Although these cooling racks aren't "microwave safe" and they're also not heavy-duty enough for cooking, they do a fine job for warming in my combination microwave/convection oven. When I bought my over-the-range microwave/convection combo unit, one application that I wanted it to do was act as a plate warmer - a place to store and warm meals, such as heating up breakfast muffins while bacon and eggs cook, then keeping it all warm until we're ready to eat. Unfortunately, the unit I bought came with small, circular racks that only allow for a single plate, so I bought this Stackable Cooling Rack Set and it is working out beautifully! One rack lets me put dessert plates underneath on the carousel (where the muffins warm), and there's plenty of space for the medium-sized plates for bacon and eggs on top of the rack itself. It is a snug fit: The legs of the rack are tight against the carousel, but so far, no problems with that. I can stack the racks two-high and still be able to add food to each plate. I took a few pictures to show what I mean. The only cautions are of course: They are not to be used for microwaving or for high-heat cooking (I haven't tested either but doubt it would work). I'm using the temperature setting of 250 degrees F and that is just fine. Also, they do get warm themselves, so be mindful to avoid touching them while adding foods or removing plates (I use pot holders). I was concerned that their light-weight frame would struggle with the weight of the plates, which are much heavier than cookies, but they haven't shown any signs of breakdown. I'm delighted with how well they are working for this application. They've been seeing daily usage since their arrival 4 months ago.

Not for stacking trays
I got this rack for stacking small trays of art/craft projects that need to stay level while setting. Ordinarily I wouldn't review an item that I wasn't using for its intended purposes, but I wanted to leave this out there for anyone else who was also looking for vertical tray storage that allows for air circulation. In the photograph, it's difficult to see that the legs are set in quite a bit from the edge of the cooling rack. So while the surface space is larger, in order to slide a tray in width or length wise, the tray has to be significantly more narrow than the rack. I'm using trays that are 1 1/4" tall, and for those to slide in, they'd have to be 12 1/4" long or 9 1/8" wide. Instead, I have to remove the top racks and place them only after I fill the space below. If I want to remove a tray towards the bottom to work on those pieces, I have to remove the trays and racks above it before I can remove the tray I want. Not horribly inconvenient, but more hassle than I wanted -- I was hoping for racks I could leave stacked.I gave this 4 stars because it for its intended purpose (cooling baked goods), it seems like it would be effective. It's fairly sturdy (does move around a tiny bit, but it'll definitely hold up a cake or cookies), and my only complaint there would be that the "hinges" for the legs protrude up a bit (less than 1/8") into the tray, which would press into anything cooling over it. Also, the legs for the rack above each sheet eat up 1/2" of space across the entire width of each end.

stacking cookie racks
So, I have a tiny house with a tiny kitchen. I really wanted to make Christmas cookies.. but then you have to wonder how you can possibly cool a pile of cookies?? These worked PERFECTLY. They fold up when not in use... stack in a small area when you are using them. Or you could use them flat if you have the space. Washed up in the dishwasher nicely. I would TOTALLY buy these again. The pic shows the snowball like cookies I make every year (Russian Teacakes or Mexican wedding cakes). Flour, butter, powdered sugar and a little cinnamon - melt in your mouth treats. I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seem useful.

Works Well at a Good Price
I'm at a loss as to why people thought these would be larger. The photo shows a standard pie and normal size cookies that don't at all make them look bigger than the dimensions. Oh, well. I'm happy with them. The size works well for me in terms of counter space. You can use one, two, or three tiers. The feet fold for storage or hanging. They are quite stable when stacked, which is the only place something like this could fail to meet expectations. I think that if you were doing a whole bunch of cookies or several pies, you could keep on stacking a second set without worrying, which would give you considerable cooling capacity in a small footprint. If you bake big ol' rustic round loaves, you probably won't be able to get them into the bottom two tiers when all are stacked, but pies, etc. and baguettes fit fine. And, of course, your baked goods do get cool. (Can't hardly fail to, can they?)
