Love Weezer
I love Weezer and I love cover songs, so this was a perfect fit. I'm also showing how Gen X I am by still purchasing CDs for my car.

Oh the Ney Sayers
some people gave Weezer 1 star WTF , desperate for cash, songs you play at a wedding, really sweet dreams at a wedding hmm ooooh Kaaay? Did it ever occur to anyone that maybe these guys like these songs, played them as covers or wanted to play them as covers starting out as a band and never did and decided to do them as a cover. I think Ah ha vocals Morten Jarket is no easy stunt to duplicate and the fact that Rivers did it, even the high note, come on now, you know what I'm talking about , "Day or two" is pretty impressive and thought it was cool that they brought Weird Al into the Africa video, shows they have a sense of humor but I guess if just need something to complain about well you'll find something to complain about.

IMO a really good covers album except for one song
I have a confession to make here: Before this album, the most "recent" Weezer album I'd heard was Red Album, from '08. I used to listen to Weezer pretty often, but for some reason I kinda stopped (or pretty much stopped) listening to them for around ten years or so. Don't really know why; I liked a lot of what I'd heard by them. I know that a lot of people hated them, at least after 2001's Green Album (probably still do), but I never thought they were anywhere near THAT bad (I can't say I was crazy about EVERYTHING I'd heard by them). Considering that Weezer has put out quite a number of albums since Red Album (in fact, as I write this, they have another one coming very soon!), I'd fallen pretty far behind since that album. As for this one (the "Teal Album"; Weezer is going to run out of colors before too much longer!), I didn't know about it until I saw it come up at Amazon while browsing one night. It took me by surprise, as I hadn't seen or heard a thing about it before, although I knew about Black Album, which came into existence at around the same time as this one. I was doubly surprised to find out that it was a "covers" album, and from what I've read, I wasn't the only one who was taken by surprise by this release. I can't say that I'm terribly familiar with all of the original versions of the songs, although I know who did them (or who I'm pretty sure did them).Weezer presents their spins on material from a wide range of periods (beginning, chronologically, with the '60s) by artists as diverse as Ben E. King ("Stand By Me"; I think the mid-'70s cover by John Lennon was also popular) and The Turtles ("Happy Together") and TLC ("No Scrubs"). Wanna hear Weezer do MJ's "Billie Jean"? Here you go! Also here is the group's take on "Take On Me" by A-Ha, as well as their versions of "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" by Tears For Fears, Toto's "Africa" (the opening track), the Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)," Black Sabbath's "Paranoid," and ELO's "Mr. Blue Sky." Judging from Weezer's song selection, they sure seem to really like the '80s! Of all of these songs, "Happy Together" is the one the original version of which I've heard most often. (I'm a big '60s fan.)Although I'm not too familiar with the original versions of all of the songs, I like these "Weezer'd" versions. They may not be as good as the originals, at least not in every case (I don't know if I'd say any are BETTER), but I find them pretty enjoyable. Well, I like MOST of the tracks here --- there's one particular track that I could definitely do without, and that track is "No Scrubs"; it's the one track that I really, truly dislike, and the track that is most likely going to get skipped over by me from now on. If it weren't for it, I might have given this album five stars, provided there was a track that I liked instead of this one! (I'm sure both the original version of this song, as well as this cover, have their fans, to whom I mean no offense.)Overall, though, I think this is a really good "covers" album! It was (mostly) really nice to hear, especially after not hearing anything (or not hearing much) by the group for such a long time! I'm definitely going to have to hear the albums I missed!

Fun cover album!!
Weezer's Teal album came out of nowhere, well possibly "Africa". While I thoroughly enjoy MOST of the songs on this album, there were a few that I thought, meh, I might listen to once or twice and that's it Sweet Dreams, No Scrubs. But, with that said, it is well worth it to purchase this piece of nostalgia with a Weezer twist! And yes they didn't switch up too much from the normal version, they did add bits and pieces to stay true to the music. Where else are you going to be able to listen to all these different genre songs from different albums: here that's where. To be able to go from jamming to Happy Together, to Take on Me, Stand by me, Billie Jean, and end with some of Ozzy's Paranoid!

There is something wonderful about the Teal Album
The cd arrived in perfect condition. The music itself? Even more perfect. I’m, simply put, obsessed with this album. It’s been in my car for well over a month, it’s all I listen to anymore. I keep expecting to get tired of it, but it hasn’t happened yet. When I drive with the window down, accompanied by No Scrubs or Stand by Me or most any of the songs on this album, I get a wonderful nostalgic feeling. My mind starts saying using phrases like “halcyon days” and “I’ll remember this moment” because something about this album has affected me in ways I never expected.
