I needed a scale for my "Spring cleaning" sessions on ebay. I was sick of waiting on post office lines just for their scales and postage so I read all the reviews and settled on this guy. First off, I didn't want some monstrosity but something accurate enough for even up to medium sized packages. This scale is great! It is about the size of a deck of cards and just about the weight of it - maybe up to a couple decks but light enough. Don't get me wrong, it maybe light but it feels sturdy enough. The build quality feel pretty good, no cheapy plastic feel like it was going to crush under bigger packages or anything so that's a plus! The screen is easy enough to read. It comes with a durable plastic cover that fits over the front to not only protect it but serve as a tray too! The best part is that the plastic tray is again not too flimsy - sturdier than I expected for the money. It has a outline of the metal weigh tray so it fits in place.How does it work? Simple enough: if you don't need the tray - just remove the plastic cover/tray and turn it on. It tares itself every time it turns on. If you need the tray - simply put it on the metal tray and turn on - the unit will tare the tray automatically! Simple as that! Now I weight at home, print out postage from home - stick and just drop it off at the PO - no lines. So far s good but I'll update if it breaks on me. Every time this scale has been spot on and I mean in correct to the decimals. It has helped me tremendously in challenging jewelers round the world who try to cheat. Gold specially is very expensive and ripping you off for even 3-4 grams on a ring or a pendant ( which may not sound a lot) is a lot of money! I will be surely buying more as gifts to my friends and with the price you cannot go wrong.

I received this scale in the mail today. It was shipped promptly. It is smaller than I imagined, small enough to fit into a shirt pocket. The weighing platform will hold a paper cup but not anything much bigger. The batteries are included. A thin plastic strip must be removed from the battery compartment before using. I used a set of gram calibration weights from my long-ago college chemistry class to test the unit. At first I was impressed. The digital readout said 1.0 with a 1 gram test weight, 10.0 with a 10 gram test weight, and 50.0 with a 50 gram test weight (my largest). Then I tried weights less than one gram. I was disappointed that the scale read 0.1 less than the actual weight. For instance, the scale read 0.6 with 0.7 test weight. I then tried the 1 gram weight again and it read 0.9. So the accuracy is plus or minus 0.1 gram. For instance, if the scale reads 7.2 grams, the actual weight could be anywhere from 7.1 to 7.3 grams. This is close enough for my application. I did not expect a highly accurate scale for $21. The unit shuts off after 1 minute unless you add or remove weight. That is an annoying feature but it is easy to turn the scale back on. There is a calibrate button that requires a 500 gram weight (not included). A mode button chooses units: grams, ounces, etc. A tare button zeros the readout. There is also a button for counting pieces. This scale will be satisfactory for my occasional use.Joe

This is a nice little scale. I accidentally smashed my original one, and fortunately was able to find the exact same one still available here. It came quickly and works great. The cover doubles as a tray, which is a nice feature. It is easy to change units, and the LCD readout is easy to read. Highly recommended.

I have found this scale for $40 on other sites. It is perfect for my use of weighing small fecal samples for parasite testing on my alpacas. It is accurate, turns on quickly, and is small enough to tuck away. I use my bathroom as my lab and space is a commodity. It has an auto off feature and I don't have to depend on my memory (it's bad) to turn it off.
