Reduces the spread of shop dust greatly
I used this hood in my workshop rather than in a work site. It does a great job of capturing the spread of dust from my Bosch sliding miter saw. It is rather bulky as you can see from its picture or from the setup video on YouTube, but it goes together easily and folds up into an easily transported hood if you do want to take it to a work site. The only issue I had with its setup is with the side-bar connectors to the saw. The supplied connectors can't be used with my Bosch saw as they would take the place of the hold-downs on the saw; in addition the bars are smaller than the hold-down holes so the hood is wobbly if used this way. I made wooden extensions for my miter saw table and attached the supplied alternative connector bases to those for a more secure and stable connection. Even with a vacuum attached to the saw, there is dust thrown out into the shop; this hood captures all of the extra dust and contains it within the hood. It is a simple matter to tap the hood and have the dust slip down the back of the hood into a box at its base.

Retains Sawdust from Flying
Perfect for sawing a lot of shiplap. My husband is very happy with this purchase. Although no matter how much you cover the sawing area, there will be dust. So we have ours in the garage. So he does vacuum periodically to keep dust from going places. But this hood works!

Does the job very well ...
I like using my miter saw, but the amount of sawdust it generates makes for a tedious cleanup process when I'm through chopping. This sawhood is like a big enveloping umbrella around the saw. It comes in a fairly flat big box with minimal instructions. It's not hard to figure out what to do, but there are slight production quality issues. Some of the connections require some filing down a surface or, in one case, some dremel work to grind down a protruding part that hinders the saw's operation. After making those modifications the hood installs easily to the accessory mounts on the saw and opens up to keep the sawdust from flying all over. There's a front cover to the hood that is not shown in any of the product's pictures. It attaches via Velcro and helps to keep sawdust from coming out the front. However, some debris does escape from the side or bottom, so it's not 100%. I would say 95% is about right on the amount of sawdust that's kept inside the hood. After finishing my sawing I would just vacuum up the dust inside the hood and that's that. Like all things that unfold for use, it's just about impossible to get it back to its original compact size after use. So it does take up some space when it's unmounted from the saw until its next use. One drawback of the hood is that it does cut down on the light around the saw, so you may have to bring in some additional light source to see what you're chopping. Fortunately my saw has a laser so I can see easily my cut line. Overall, this is a great addition to my workshop and I don't dread the messy cleanups anymore.

Fastcap chopshop Sawhood
The purchase of the Fastcap Chopshop Sawhood was one of the best things I could have purchased for my husband. He just can't rave enough about this product. He builds alot of crafts in his workshop and was always making a mess. He used to hook up his wet/dry vac to catch the sawdust, but there was always a fine dust that collected all over his shop. Not any more!!! He put this up around his radial arm saw and it catches everything. It's very easy to install. During the first week of use he was always coming into the house and mentioning how nice it is not to see all the mess that used to gather on the floor and the walls. An added benefit is that he seems to keep the rest of his shop cleaned up, even putting away his tools. Guess it was just the incentive he needed. You know men and their "toys", well this was one of the best investments I've made for him. It's a great product.

I liked it so much that I bought one for the home shop.
I bought this for home after I had used one at work. The new version has a cutout on the front flap that fits around the saw and contains about 90% of the dust when making 90 degree cuts. I have mostly used it for framing my basement so I will see how that feature works with other cuts. The back of the hood sticks out rather significantly which can be a problem in a small work space. I cut the two lower arms in half and overlapped them holding them together with gear clamps. this worked great with a non-sliding saw. When we recently purchased a 10" slider I adjusted the amount of overlap to accommodate the needed depth which still allows at least a foot of space savings.

Very good!
I build lots of homes, and do trim almost every day at the tract. The hood works as advertised. The amount of wood dust, mdf dust collected in the tent is rather dramatic. Especially when cutting 6 inch baseboard on the flat, at 45 degrees (before I cope.) I use a quick release clamp for holding trim, while I cope it with my power jigsaw. So, I needed that extra port to the right of saw. When coping I just lay the edge of the tent support, straight down on a piece of wood on saw horse. That works fine. The 12 inch mitre saw dust bags just can't catch enough dust.

Great product.
Just what I expected From the pictures. It was easy to set up. I have a Dewalt miter saw and I saw a YouTube video that said I needed couplers to help it fit in the existing holes. The video was right ( and I didn’t have them) but it still worked great. I was working in an office and it kept the dust contained to one area, which was great. I highly recommend it.

This just isn't doing it!
Great Idea in concept. Not so great in execution. It just flops over. I could have just built a tent around the saw for less money that worked better.
