You get what you pay for.
I'm headed to Washington in a few days and I wanted a travel rod that can collapse small enough to fit in my luggage, while being durable enough to last more than one trip. After reading a lot of reviews and checking out travel rods at local tackle shops, I decided on the Kast King Blackhawk based on reviews and comments from the tackle shop folks. Upon receiving the Blackhawk, I was not disappointed.First impression is that the build quality far exceeds other Amazon travel rods that are a few bucks cheaper. I had purchased another rod by Plusino for a lot less money and returned it the day I got it. Save yourself the hassle and just buy the Blackhawk. The eyelets are epoxied on the rod just like other high quality rods, the seat holds my Penn Battle II 3000 perfectly solid. No wobble. Finally, the color scheme is nice and clean, no over the top chrome or bright rainbow colors. Just a nice clean look.Fishing with the rod was a pleasure. On a test run, the rod did feel pretty close to a one piece rod. I didn't hear any creaking or snapping sounds. The rod flexed and handled surf perch like a normal 2 piece rod. From what I can tell, I don't think this rod will have any problem landing bigger fish on my Washington trip.Like they say, pay once, cry once. If you need a travel rod that collapses and extends to 8', I honestly feel there aren't any other options worth considering. Sure the Blackhawk is a lot more than other cheaper rods on Amazon, but I definitely think it's worth the extra money. If fishing is your thing, then spend the extra dough and get the Blackhawk.Update: I just returned from my trip to WA. I used the Blackhawk everyday for 6 out of 7 days and here’s what I think.+ excellent performance - I was casting Buzzbomb and other lures way farther than I thought I could. It was kind of crazy, but I felt it it could cast better than a similar 2 pc Okuma rod I use for surf fishing.+ being telescopic makes traveling with it a breeze+ reel seat is solid. My reel did not wobble or come loose at any point.+ sensitive, yet easily handled 2-4lb steelheads all day.- line guides (eyelets) tend to rotate alittle after some use. You have to readjust the guides throughout the day.- not the rod’s fault, but getting even a tiny bit of sand inside the rod makes it extremely difficult to collapse/expand the rod. Be sure to wipe down the rod before putting it away.Overall, I’m extremely happy with the Blackhawk.

My excitement ended in disappointment!
After MUCH research, I bought an 8' medium heavy telescopic rod for my trip to the FL. Keys. Wanted something that would fit in a full size suitcase. I have other telescopic rods, but they are lighter weight and didn't fit the need for bigger fish. After no more than 20 casts, I hooked into a fish and shortly after the tip section exploded. I'm not really sure what happened, but the fish got off and I was left with a broken rod that had only 20 casts on it. VERY disappointed in the glass tip section. the rest of the rod seems well built, but I have to give it a poor rating based on the results. A quick read of the warranty is buy a new rod at 1/2 price + $20S/H. That equated to "Buy a new rod" which I'm unwilling to do based on the outcome. In summary, I don't recommend buying this based on the failure and warranty.

8 ft Inshore spinning only fits up to 4000
After trying to find a good travel pole, I found this one. A cast king black hawk 2. Its a medium heavy rod for 12 to 25 lbs. It extends from 26 inches to 8 feet. I matched it with a Diawa Fuego with 40lb braid. Hopefully this works great if I'm traveling around and need something. Its a definite upgrade from my old bass pro telescoping rod. This will only fit up to a 4000 series though and not a penn battle 4000. All of the 5000s have a larger base and will not work. I got the diawa 4000 because it fit the base. It would also fit the Pfluger 40. Looks to be well built and it was bombing a 1 oz jig head about 50 yards on each cast i made earlier today when testing it out. I didnt catch any fish to see how the flex would do on the rod.

Nothing negative so far
I was not a huge fan of Telescopic Fishing Rods but I thought why not giving it a try. Price was good and when it arrived I was positively surprised. It is really lightweight and still robust. The bend is nice and the portability is unbeatable. It also looks good which might be an important factor fore some including me. I didn't fish with it more than a couple of times yet but it will be with me on my next journeys and if there is any reason to change my mind about my 5star rating I will let you know. Great rod for a great price. Good job KastKing once again.

Good pole.
So I was going to return this pole due to it's weak tip. But once I replace it's tip and modified the thickness of where it was placed. The pole is about 1 inch shorter now but is perfect for my needs as a compact pole. The tip on these poles do not travel well, even with the protection accessory. It tapers to thin but if you replace the tip about an inch down from its original place. It's pretty much an uglystik.

Amazing rod!!
Lightweight. Portable I want to take backpacking and when I go to secret spots and have to hike in. Durable. One small con would be aligning up the moving eyelets, but I’m not even complaining. Was able to launch lures, hard baits and life bait no problem. Jack herring, perch, rock fish, striper and sting rays were caught with this.

Tip was fragile
The rod was very portable, light and sensitive.I used it for the first time on beach and caught a decent-sized flathead fish. But then the tip snapped.I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't that fragile.

Best telescopic pole. Best fishing pole regardless of it being telescopic
This is a great fishing pole for people on the go and love fishing. You can have it in your bag or trunk of the car and whip it out when your on lunch break from work and are near a bodybof water and relax n fish. Surprisingly strong for being a telescopic pole. I've landed a 30pd. Stripped bass on this pole and it did not once gave me the feeling of it breaking. Super strong and durable. I'm adding more to my collection for light talkle and fresh water. Kastking will be my new brand that I'm fishing
