The only way to go for a slim PC
Literally the only option, as far as I could see. I picked up the Silverstone Tek Thin Mini-ITX Media Center case, and the case is definitely too slim for the Fan/Heatsink included with the i5 3470s I picked up to pair with the DQ77KB motherboard. Works great so far, although I have only used the system for playing streams (netflix), discs (BluRay, DVDs) or music, so I haven't taxed the CPU heavily. I don't imagine having any problems, since there's more than adequate space around the unit for air flow.

Excellent cooling fan for THIN MINI ITX platform
Excellent cooling fan for thin mini ITX platform. I used it on an i5 4690S LGA 1150 socket with As rock H81TM-ITX motherboard. If your BIOS will let you, make sure you setup the fan to increase speed during heavy duty processor operation such as video editing where the processor will get hot. It's better to setup a cooling profile even if it gets noisy at times than to operate in quiet mode and shorten the life of the processor.

Intel Micro-ITX HTPC/AIO setups
I use this on my Intel Micro-ITX (BOXDQ77KB) HTPC builds, in the slim Silverstone cases (PT12B). Cooler (BXHTS1155LP). The build is becoming dated with the new NUCs out there.

Excellent cooler for my HTPC. Run fairly silent, can not be heard until you do some light gaming (nothing graphically intense).

i just finished building a think mini itx with i5 2500, this fan came with the case and it is very loud no matter what i do. i would replace this with something better is the option is available. but for now this is the only fan that would fit in a thin mitx case.
