Tuffy Security Products Series II 8" Wide Security Console

What a nice and secure console, worked great for Jeep CJ8 resto-mod.

This is not the first Tuffy console that I have purchased. The console itself is still well made and I would highly recommend it. My issue is with the tray that they include. It used to be steel like the console, and painted. Now it is flimsy aluminum, and wasn’t even deburred! It was definitely a cut risk. The same was true with the lock cover. Easy enough to fix, but I’m surprised that Tuffy’s QC allowed it to go out the door in that condition

Put it where ever you think is best then Lining it up straight is the hardest part. pull the inner lining out of the inside of the lock box to drill the holes through the body of the jeep, the old holes will not line up. Well worth it for the sturdiness and amount of space you get .

Like all things old Jeep, you have to do a lot of adjusting and adapting to get it to fit your center hump. I ended up mounting an amplifier underneath (not inside) of the console, so I had to lift it even even higher than normal. It will hold up, of that I am certain. Thick metal, a thick and durable padding on the top, and - more important than you'd think - the cup holders actually fit today's cups. Installation wasn't too hard, and where it bolts into the tub you will have plenty of space for wrenching it tight.

After buying a cheaper knock off, I did what i should have done in the first place and bought a Tuffy. Solid and well finished. Good value. Happy customer.

I bought a Tuffy Center console for a trip to Mexico with my Toyota Land Cruiser. I put my phone, passport, and money inside, and it wouldn’t open. I tried everything and even went to a locksmith who couldn’t open it. Desperate, I took an angle grinder to the lid as I was crossing the border. The box was only half-full, and nothing was interfering with the lock. I read many posts online about other people having similar problems with Tuffy boxes. I contacted the company, and they were unhelpful and did not offer to refund my money or replace my box with a non-defective unit.

Exactly what I was looking for.
