A Nice Little Set , A Very Little Set Though. 5 Stars Though For The Rich Pigments And High Quality Colors!
Winśor Newton Professional Watercolors are my number one choice when I create. Using these colors is almost effortless due to the richness of the pigment, a little goes a long way. You can thin them out for washes and still maintain the color . The only problem I have with this compact set is that it's "very small for the price". I knew it was going to be a small set but this is more along the lines of being " tiny ", so I was a little bummed by the size. With that said , yes these are half pan colors that can be replaced ( they are loose but you can glue gun them in place for easy removal later) and I love their quality. Windsor Newton paints are rich and vibrant in the colors they produce. I wouldn't recommend this for a beginner or student artist because you'll burn through them until you get the hang or feel of working with watercolors. For the professional artists, we can make these little paints go a long way. Paints of this quality make my paintings come to life and I'll definitely purchase more

This is a good little travel set
I love this little travel set and the included brush is not that bad neither. the pans do pop out easly some stay in some don't. the colors are pigmented and rich. the lemon yellow and ultramarine are softer then the others and i will probably run out before any of the others. i do wish for the money that there was a ceramic coating on the mixing pallet the plastic is well frustrating. other then that these are my first professional watercolor paints and i am injoying them very well. the price could be lower especially when i am hearing that people in europe are getting this kit for around $40 to $50 could have went up sense this review.

Overall great, compact watercolor field kit, but two of the colors were extremely weak pigment
Overall this was a very nice, compact, watercolor get to carry while I hiked and biked around France. The trays are excellent, and with the pull out tray, the total number of trays to mix colors and water was excellent. The sable brush that came with was a really nice brush, and although I had some other Da Vinci brushes with me, I frequently ended up using the sable brush from the kit.MOST of the colors had good pigment and were excellent, however, the raw umber and permanent sap green in my particular kit was so weak in pigment that they were almost useless. I was really surprised since Winsor & Newton are such high quality paints, and it may be that I just happen to get two paints that were lower pigment concentration or just not well made. But, this was a big disappointment since raw umber is a color I use a lot of for outlining and shading.

Field box a joke, top complaint since 2017.. anybody listening out there??
Paint good , field box a joke. Why would the box be created with each pot area having a retaining ridge BUT the paint pots sent do NOT have the ability to fit on that ridge. Therefore they do not stay in place at all but flip from side to side. Obviously the pots are not made for that box , or visa versa. poor attention to detail especially since this comment has been the top complaint since 2017 and the company is STILL sending the same problem to every buyer. Very very poor design and service. Never buy again. I would suggest you find another vendor because Windsor and Newton obviously could not care less. 7 years of complaints and NO FIX YET. Hope you get to read this Before you buy.

Only the best
This is an extraordinary product and an extraordinary value. I’ve used this specific professional grade artist colors for years and my work remains as vivid as ever. Not saying it’s great work- but I love the results and the process of both the paints and the compact case design.

The plastic palette is badly made
The 14 Winsor and Newton professional watercolors pan are great. Very pigmented. I love that they have a cool and warm version of the primary colors and even of the greens, browns and blacks. Glad they no longer have a white.I still love the Cotman version of this 14 color field box I bought ages ago as in 2009, though I have long used up the paints. The palette is great, i keep other paints in it now. The plastic is sturdier and the pans friction fit into the palette perfectly. That being said... what happened? Why is the plastic palette garbage now? In the Professional 14 color field box, the pans do not stay in the slots. It's supposed to be friction fitted in, but the slots are too tight, so the pans: stick out, wobble and fall out. I expected better build quality from W&N, especially since this is the "Professional" version.

Brush included is high quality round brush and paints are amazing!
I love this kit! I love the paint quality! All the colors are vibrant and easy to work with (except Viridian, which I have to work with a little harder to get color onto my brush). The brush that came with this is now the best brush I own (Surprise)! I highly recommend this kit to anyone looking to purchase water color paints.

I love the plastic palette box
I upgraded to this set after a year of using the cheaper Cotman version with the same plastic palette box. I love the plastic palette box. You just have to glue the plastic pans in place and use a drop of water in the bottom of the plastic pan to glue the paint puck into place. I use the top lid to carry another half dozen mixing colors. This set has never leaked or caused a mess. Small, strong lightweight. Perfect for the outdoors.
