Melodies

I'm a huge fan of Japan's City Pop era/genre and especially Yamashita-san, since he's the progenitor thereof. I have nearly his entire catalog, and I buy both the CD and LP. I listen tobthe LPs while I'm working and rip the CD to my computer and then load on to my phone for when I'm driving/traveling."Melodies" is a good record, but doesn't have as many outstanding tracks as other albums such as "Spacy", "For You" or "Ride on Time". However, it is actually Yamashita-san's second highest selling album, mostly due to the track "Christmas Eve", which is track 10. The first track "Jody", also appears on "Big Wave, a surfing documentary, which Yamashita-san also provided the entire soundtrack for. This was Yamashita-san's firsy album where he wrote most of the songs. Songs from his earlier albums were written/co-written by Minako Yoshida.My favorites songs on this CD/LP are "Merry Go Round" ( track 6), "Ashieto" (track 8) and "Blue Midnight" (Track 7). If you're a true City Pop fan, thia will be in your collection. If you're just getting into the genre, I recommend the albums "For You" and "Ride on Time" as first forays into Tatsuro Yamashita's music.

Music is great, so I'll give it 5 stars. But my case arrived with a large crack on the back.

I recently listened to Tatsuro online for the first time. I liked his music so much I bought 3 of CDs including Melodies. It has me learning Japanese just to understand the lyrics...

Tatsuro Yamashita sings the best songs! At least in my opinion. I’m a big fan of all his songs!
