It's heavy - really heavy. The heaviest, in fact, that I've tried. The shell is made of a thick, tough plastic, so it is super sturdy, if that concerns you. I also didn't like the jingles. They are dry to a fault. Sometimes you want it dry, sure, but they hardly produce tone unless you're striking the head, and even then they are way scaled back. Speaking of which, the NAPA head was the most appealing thing about this pandeiro - a very nice texture, and it has a warm, muted tone that I found very pleasing. However, it added to the 'toned-down' effect of this pandeiro... I don't know, maybe they designed it for the studio. It's just very dry, very muted, very quiet... and very heavy. Don't say I didn't warn you.I bought a Contemporanea instead, and I'm very glad I did. A wonderful pandeiro.

I have had this thing for about 2 years. I will say that it is heavy because of the thickness of the plastic but once you get your strength up its fantastic. The tone is very warm and the head allows for very clean muted tones and if you want it can be tuned lower than anything else if seen. Many pandeiros can be a bit abrasive with excessive jingles and pitchy syth heads, thats all well and good if you're doing batucada all day but if you are in a more scaled down ensemble this really blends well.
