Q: what are the ingredients?

All R+Co products are free of parabens, sulfates, petrolatum, mineral oil, gluten and are vegan/cruelty-free! The main ingredients in this cleansing rinse are: Apple Fruit Extract (protects hair and scalp from damage and acts as a natural exfoliant. Contains compounds that soothe and moisturize the the scalp while strengthening hair and adding a healthy looking sheen), Aloe Vera Leaf Juice (adds strength and luster to hair. Helps hair retain moisture.) and Tamanu Seed Oil (brimming with essential fatty acids and nutrients. Promotes an optimal scalp environment. Strengthens hair, seals in moisture and restores vitality to dull hair).

Q: Do you shampoo and condition and then use this product? Or use it in place of a shampoo?

This is an astringent like cleanser . It cleans any residue on the hair, whether gel, mousse, conditioners, etc. It does not replace shampoo or conditioner. It's very drying because of the cleansing effect. I use every 3 or 4 weeks as stand only product. I use once. I don't repeat. It requires conditioning after completion, to soften my course clean hair. I don't process my hair a lot. I avoid blow dryers, styling products, etc. I do use leave in conditioners often.

I shampoo after. I don’t use conditioner.

Q: If someone used this alone as their daily shampoo with no other hair products, would it eventually cause its own build-up on our hair?

Doubtful. This shampoo is not like traditional ones in that the liquid doesn’t really turn to a foam, even when massaged into scalp. ACV will not build up because it is a natural astringent and yet after using this for months, my hair is left so soft, shiny and healthy feeling. I do use conditioner afterwards because I have curly hair that needs extra moisture but I can honestly say this is one of the best shampoos I have ever used.
