Child Development, Third Edition: A Practitioner's Guide (Clinical Practice with Children, Adolescents, and Families) Third Edition

I'm not a child therapist or student of child development. I was looking for something with a little more meat than what's found in most parenting books, and this book delivered. I can understand almost everything and it offers terrific breakdowns of different areas of development at each stage, with quick snapshots. I'll be using the book frequently in the future when I have questions, concerns, or curiosities about my children's path to adulthood!

An excellent study guide. Each stage of child development is described in two chapters: one theoretical, and one providing real-life vignettes. Easy language. Even theoretical chapters are written in an easy language, no jargon.

This book is well written and I recommend it for anyone who has a desire to better understand child development. The size of this book is not big and bulky like some textbooks and is easy to carry in your book bag.

I searched for years for a comprehensive easy to read book on child development and then I found this one. It gives concise descriptions of each childhood developmental level and includes how to incorporate that information into assessment and treatment planning. Descriptive case examples are a nice addition to the book.

I brought this textbook as a requirement for one of my classes. The book is easy to read, comprehend and understand. It's one of those books that you don't need your professor to decipher for you. The text is factual and has good examples to help one understand the readings better. To my surprise I actually enjoy reading it.

As my first book purchased for my graduate education, this book has been very clear and easy to understand. I like how they have a chapter for each age group and then a chapter about assessing that age group. Definitely not going to try to re-sell this one.
