Easy to make use
We needed to convert a HDMI out signal from the computer about 75 feet away to monitors at the front of the room. So I bough one and attached the HDMI to the appropriate port and SDI on the other end and everything came together in a snap. Separate power source, so make sure you have an available outlet, as the cord isn't very long, but it works like a charm. If this is your first time using a device like this or making use of SDI like myself, be aware that you will need to have BNC adapters if you use a run of the mill coaxial cable as we did. But simple to use and the signal is great, perfect for carrying video over longer distance than is feasible with HDMI and depending on how many you need, and the distance, it might be more cost effective. Blackmagic Design posits itself as a premium brand and it shows. Good weight and build quality, doesn't feel cheap at all. Software could be better, fortunately I have not needed to make much use of it for this product.

Buy the real deal, the first time!
There are some no name brand converters that look identical to these, but do not be fooled by looks! Tried everything thing and could not get my video synced up. Bought one of these, plugged everything in and it worked immediately! They are about $20 more than the off brand, but it is money well spent.

Five Stars
This is a great device, works great just plug in and play.Never had issues with this device decribed in some reviews here, connecting it to Atem 1 switcher.Switcher requires to have input set up the same way as camera output ie 1080p 1080i or 4k. And when this box is plugged in, it's just takes signal thru. Also it worked great taking HDMI converting to SDI signal to big TVs from datapatch wall display unit that's used for computer graphics and video from switcher. Just needed to setup resolution correctly.

Totally worth the money
Perfect for simple conversion from HDMI to SDI.Just remember that it does not do any scaling/framerate conversion, and it defaults to using SDI level B. Most devices that aren't Blackmagic products use level A, so it is important to set the converter to the appropriate level. It's nice having these things compared to most of the $30-40 boxes you see on Amazon/Monoprice. These ones are a lot less picky and have sturdier construction.

Best for the price... maybe best period
These are hands down the best converters out there for the price. I only say for the price because i haven't put my $500 one through the same tests i've put this little guy(s) through. I own about 45 of them. Zero fail rate however the only problem i have with them is the micro usb to power them as with all micro usb are weak and can easily break. I resolve this by securing them with tape so no weight gets put on them. Other than that i will continue to buy them especially with the price even lower!

Perfect Little Device!
These devices are awesome! I've used them for several projects and have never had an issue. They do come with a power cable (micro USB). It's nice to have affordable products that just do what they are supposed to. I will NEVER use HDMI over Ethernet again, this is totally the way to go weather you're a professional or just a home DIYer.

Worked Plug and Play!
We have a new Panasonic camcorder in our church. I was aprehensive about HDMI to SDI converters going into our Roland XS-62S video switch. The Blackmagic converter worked perfectly right off the bat. The video quality is excellent. We will look to this model to use with future camera purchases.

Great unit!
The only way to go when using with an ATEM, but even just pushing SDI to HDMI these are solid. I love that I can use the USB on the TV or projector to power this, or use a power plug. One small issue is, if you use the USB from the TV or Projector, it will see the converter as a device and give you an error note on the screen that you just clear out, no real problem
