CHICAGO DID IT!
Very sharp, clean, easy cutting, ergonomic, and lovely! Chicago Cutlery did it again! Love them! My 20-year-old set finally needed an upgrade. I am thrilled with these.

Better than Henckles Premium 15 set
Amazing quality! I was deciding between this set and the HENCKELS Premium Quality 15-Piece Knife Set, which was only $10 more. I initially purchased the Henckels set, but the quality felt cheap for the price—some knives had minor chips, and the handles seemed prone to scratches. I’m so glad I returned it! The Chicago Cutlery set is far superior in quality and well worth the extra $10. Plus, these knives are forged and feel sturdy, whereas the Henckels knives at a similar price point are stamped and, in my opinion, a bit flimsy.

Finally a quality knife set
I was first drawn to these because the steak knives have a smooth blade. So many cheap, and even many more expensive knife sets have serrated steak knives which I can't stand. A steak knife should slice your food, not tear it. These slice with ease.I've been using the knives for a little over a month and haven't had a need to sharpen them yet, so I can't speak to the built-in sharpening tool, but they are holding an edge well. And that's with cleaning them in the dishwasher. Yes, I know hand washing is better, but in my household that's simply not happening much of the time, and these knives haven't punished us for it.The handles are very comfortable, and full tang, 3-rivot design makes them very sturdy. I'm expecting they'll last for decades. My one complaint is that when all the knives are in the block they all look so similar that you might end up grabbing 2 or 3 different knives trying to find the one you want. I'm not actually sure I'd want anything changed to 'fix' that though... I think any sort of labeling would detract from the design, and the issue is just too minor.

Basic but competent
Sharp, sturdy knives and a hefty block for storage and organization. One-star removal as knife slots in block are oversized, which makes the steak-knives vertically facing in the front row wobbly and not really as secure as Id like, but a minor issue and better than being too small/tight. After purchasing a couple sets of absolutely trash knives, these were a brand i had in my drawer years ago so I figured I should try more. Having the metal go through the handle is a must if you dont want the handles breaking off and rendering them all useless. Good variety and better on pricing than a lot of other options.

More knives than you can shake a stick
I owned a Chicago Cutlery knife block for 40 years. Every two years my husband had them sharpened. I finally decided to treat myself to a new block. I'm very happy with my selection. The knives are extremely sharp, even the tips of the knives. I was able to carve my turkey in no time. Before I had to use my electric knife which seemed to overheat by the time I was finished carving. This time I used the boning knife to separate the breast and then used the Santoku knife for slicing the breast. Some reviews said their knives started to rust. They are probably placing them in the dishwasher. IMHO, never put your knives in the dishwasher. Always clean and dry them before placing them back in the block.
