Brilliant piece of kit.
Unblocked a bathroom baisin waste pipe easily at first attempt. Removed trap first as pop up waste fitting wouldn't allow spring to pass.I was surprised at how easily the spring passed through the four 90 degree elbow bends on a 32 mm waste pipe. Just make sure to follow instructions for use fully . Keep visible section of spring to 200mm or less between pipe end and hand held unit. Very impressed with ease of use and result.

Kitchen sink long drain cleared
I chose this to clear a slow draining kitchen sink. The drain has 5x90 degree bends on the way outside, and is about 6 meters from under sink to outside drain. I was sceptical that this would work but it made it.Basically you have a seven meter flexible spring and a holder. It coils in the holder but not on a reel or anything. You just feed it in and out. The holder has a clamp so it can hold the steel spring tight. When you turn the handle this rotates the spring with the holder. Doing this allowed me to work the spring all the way round the pipe bends until I could just see it poking out the drain outside. To use it you will probably need to remove your u-bend to access the drain pipe, as the end is not likely to fit down the plughole grating. If the sink is blocked this would be a good ideal anyway. Messy as it is, it is good to clean out any muck from the trap.Overall is was much cheaper than a plumber. No need to force things much, just take it easy and work through the bends. 100% improvement in my sink drainage. The turning action would get through most blockages and, as I say, let it get round all the corners.

Not fit for purpose.
This piece of equipment wasn’t fit for purpose and the broke within 3 minutes of using it. The long wire broke loose from its anchor in the wind mechanism and couldn’t be put back. If I wasn’t travelling tomorrow I’d return it.

Excellent. Unblocked a kitchen rook disaster.
I learnt the hard way that flushing kitchen roll/paper towel isn’t wise.Following a cat pee disaster near a toilet, I flushed some kitchen roll down the toilet. So, despite some science to suggest it may not work, I attempted many drain unblockers. Bicarb of soda and vinegar, bleach, Mr. Muscle, Buster & HG special duo. None of it did the trick. So we bought this thing and yep - it works. You have to be patient and persevere - it’s not a magic solution - it takes elbow grease. But unlock the little screw, then manually feed the coil wire down the toilet until it stops - it’ll go pretty freely once you’re past the u-bend up until you’re blockage. Then screw the little screw to lock the mechanism back up and fix the wire coil. Then, twist the handle to spin the coil whilst pushing forward. I think it sort of both pushes the blockage whilst shredding it a bit too. You’ll find the coils spins so far, then wants to turn back. Cue about an hour of this whilst flushing occasionally to help move loose debris on and we got there - clear blockage! We watched the drain from the manhole cover during the process and whilst no large catchable block came cascading down, we did have a steady stream of shredded kitchen roll.Couple of tips - it it starts to coil up a bit and/or twist on itself, or wants to unwind itself violently after you’ve wound - you’ve got too much wire down. Wind it back. It takes a bit to get you’re eye in, but you get a knack of what feels right you’ll know what’s right to have it up against the blockage. Also, if it completely unfeeds itself. Don’t panic - it easily goes back in.Good product, strongly recommend!

Did the job
I used this to unblock an island kitchen sink drain. I docked a point because there is no 'end stop' on the spring - you can pull it right out of the handle end. To get it back in I had to undo all the screws, locate the kinked spring end in the handle recess, and reassemble. This is a fairly cheap and chearful construction which you would expect at the price - but not for 'pro' use. My advice is to go slowly - both when inserting and rotating the spring. At the end of the day it did the job, which is all you can ask.

Brilliant
After trying everything to clear a blocked toilet tried this device. Instructions are easy to follow, the snake is very long and dealt with the bends in pipework. Took about 10 mins to clear the blockage. Finished with plunging and job done. Would highly recommend .
