Not what they used to be.
This is not the quality of BIG RED I am used to. I have a 2 1/2 ton I bought about 20 years ago, and it is much bigger and heavier than this new 3 1/2 ton model. It is harder to physically pump than my older model. Makes me wonder if it will lift its capacity?? I am 200 Lbs and it takes all my weight to push the handle to lift half of my car's weight.

Lots of bang for your buck
I don't get the low reviews. I have this jack i bought at local store on sell for $119 was in a pinch my clutch went out on my 06 3500 ram 5.9 diesel. I did no research just grabbed the first heavy duty jack i could get my hands on. I had to have one that you can take the round plate out of so i could put a transmission adapter on. I use to be a metal fab welder and made my one as i needed one that day. that and most the ones you buy are junk and set too high to use with out a lift but that is a different point. So as for my review. The jack had no problem lifting the one ton truck i placed it up on blocks to give me more room under it. I can see how people say it drops fast but if you take your time and turn the handle slow it has a very slow decline. the foot petal is ok I think it does what it says it is. It just brings the jack up to your frame so you don't need to pump it as much it is not made to lift the car. Also i see it as a bonus as it is bolted on and can be removed with one bolt. Basically if you don't like it take it off it does not effect the jack. It worked very well for me a was able to stab the big six speed transmission by my self had no help except my big red jack. So far it has been worth every penny it is a very heavy duty well made jack that i think will be in my shop for many years to come. I think there are to many want to be mechanics that want to compare to a $500 floor jack. not that i don't think this could stand everyday use but if you do it for a living this might not be for you. if you need a heavy duty well made floor jack for your garage or home shop this is the most bang for buck. keep in mind this is made for shop use it is nothing you want to throw behind seat for flat tires. It is almost 100 lbs very heavy duty. i have only had a week if it gives me any problems i will adjust my review but like i said too many want to be people trying to compare to snapon or mac. for the money you cant beat it and unless you got rocks in your head and cant understand to twist the handle slow the dropping fast is not a problem. I hope this review helps you decide what you need. I love it

Unsafe poor quality floor jack
I received my "Big Red" jack on time due to using prime and did a quick check of it and thought all was good. A month later when I needed to actually use the jack I found that it would not hold a load without slowly lowering. I noticed when I realized that the bottom of the car I was under was suddenly pushing on my chest when it had plenty of clearance before. Luckily I was able to shimmy out without any pain. I am lucky that I had not been distracted too much or I might have been caught with the car pinning me to the ground. I then worked the jack and tested it by super tightening the valve but no matter what I tried, the jack still slowly lowers. There is not even enough time to change a tire without having to pump it back up so the tire can be returned. I then tried to contact the manufacture but could not get any response. I finally decided to return the jack to find that I had missed the return window by 7 days and now I would have to pay the shipping and only get a small percentage of the price. So a $120 lesson learned, to always "fully" check out items as soon as they arrive. IF I had read the reviews for this jack I would also have found that the "foot quick lift lever" was useless (which is so true) and that the lowering action is very hard to control (which is also true). But having a heavy car lowering on to my chest trumps all other problems. So - DO NOT BUY THIS JACK!!!!

Not safe
Purchased this jack as replacement to one that was stolen. The foot pedal is mostly useless. It direct connects to the pivot point for the lift arm (i.e. is not connected to a larger bore hydraulic pump) and takes serious foot power to lift the arm, keeping in mind if the jack is under a vehicle you can't reach the foot pedal anyway. I ended up removing it just so I could better slide the jack under my workbench when not in use.The most serious issue is releasing the jack to lower it. I've tried multiple times to lower my car slowly with just a gradual turn of the handle and it can't be done. Car is jacked up one second and on the ground the next. Perhaps not so bad if the job is done and you don't mind a rather hard landing, but it also means you can't gently lower something onto a set of jack stands. I will go so far as to say this jack is not safe.Note ... for some reason Amazon has this listed as a toy for my review, thus the unusual rating.

Won’t work and no one calls back
It pumps but won’t lift. I have reached out to Torin quite a few times and waited a few months for a reply. NOTHING. They are not worth the issues when the jack goes to crap. Go to Harbor Freight and get a Daytona.
