For a cheaper smooth sharpening steel it does exactly what it's supposed to

Smooth, which is correct for kitchen knives. Bought several as gifts. Way cheaper than the fancy brands and just as good.

I purchased the honing steel, a butcher's knife, and boning knife to process a half-pig carcass in November. The honing steel did well to keep my blades sharpened as I cut. It is important to note the angle in which you sharpen -- of which there are plenty of tutorials online -- otherwise you can do more harm than good. With that said, it was quick to pick up on. Honing steels are not knife sharpeners, so if your blade is dull, don't expect this to bring it to a brand-new edge. Nonetheless, I've found improvement with all my knives once I run them through the steel.

First I work in a beef plant I use 3 different steels to sharpen my knife this is one. I love it, when my butcher steel isn't giving me the right edge I use this to straighten the edge and pass it through my butcher steel and back to having a flawless edge. It's light, size is average from other steels, performance is good didn't gotta worry about angle too much, looks just like the basic steel, easy to use. It's good give it a try

We bought this for a Foxel knife and it works great on that knife. Just need to use this to touch it up once in a while and it keeps the knife sharp, sharp.
