Q: I used this before on a different bonsai then it died,can someone help me understand why this happened?

If you use 1 tablespoon per gallon, and water once per week, your bonsai should do very well. Is it getting enough light? Bonsais will not thrive indoors, even near a window. They need to be outside. Check how dry your soil gets every other day to ensure a once per week watering is sufficient.

Q: can this be used on other house plants

I've been told by professional gardeners it can. Also, I've used it for about 20 years on most of my plants with apparent success.

Q: Can this be used as a foliar spray?

I would say no. Have not tried it but when it evaporates around the cap of the bottle it leaves hard deposits.
